Escape the snow & play Sanctuary Ridge Photo submitted by DAB4par on 12/05/2014
Fun Layout
Very interesting non-typical Florida course. A few blind shots that are surprising. Enjoyed it and would be even better the next time.
Fun Round of Golf
This is the second weekend in a row that I played Sanctuary Ridge. I pair up with another single and a twosome. These guys were very friendly and made the round that much more enjoyable. The greens are in good shape but there were a little fuzzy and slow. Overall the course is in a little better shape than when I played it in the past. I enjoy all of the elevation changes this course offers and many of the fun layouts of the course. I will be back.
It took us 5 1/2 hour to play the course. We waited on every hole and in some cases (not only the par 3's which you normally have to wait anyway) we were the second group waiting. Only when we were on hole 16 did a staff member come out to check the pace of play.
A great Sunday afternoon
The hot temperatures must be affecting the state of many courses. However, the greens were good and using 'winter rules' fairway shots were easier! Some very testing holes and the views were stunning. There are hills in Florida!
Stay out of the bunkers.
Best round I've played this year scoring wise. Toughest bunkers I've seen this year. Greens were in excellent condition a tad slow but so consistent from 1 through 18. Nice hilly terrain not seen everywhere in Florida. We waited on every hole so the pace was slow. There were foursomes right through so no one tried to play through and all players waited properly. I will play again.
To much play
Course is in worst shape ever. Thin or no grass on fairway. Greens need rest.
4hr 50m
Pace of play is very slow. Long wait on every shot. Not going back. Too bad the layout is good.
Visually interesting and intimidating. Shot making is a premium. for first time players, deciding where to put your tee shot can be tough. Great change of pace for those tired of flat courses. Fairways were in ok shape considering the below average temps and dry conditions this winter. Greens were overseeded and lush to the point of being shaggy and painfully slow. Our foursome played on Tuesday afternoon and took 5 hours, waited ever shot. To be fair, the course was booked up, but a good marshal surely could have sped things up a bit.
A tad slow!!
Greens were good, a little bit on the slow side but very green and thick. Pace was brutal and we also started late!A bit of rain will help the fairways we hope and the bunkers could use a little work. Still a very fun course to play with the elevation changes and the rolling greens
slow slow round
this was terrible experience, we started off with a 20 minute delay, then it was so backed up that at one point around the ninth there was a four ball on the green, a four ball in the fairway, a four ball on the tee and two four balls queued waiting. Disgraceful !!!!! and not a Marshall to be seen !! worst round ever we will never be back or recommended this course to anyone.. Five and a half hours for a four ball unbelievable.. Fairway are in rough condition, the TEE boxes where in worse condition. The greens were still in good shape..
Great value
I have always enjoyed Santuary Ridge layout. The elevation changes in Central Florida are a treat. The greens were in good shape but not very fast. Overall the course was in the best shape I have seen in in for the past couple of years. I was surprised that there were no rakes on the carts or any of the sand traps that I could see. I was only in a trap once but my playing partners were in a few times and once their ball came to rest in a footprint in the sand. I hope to see them keep improving the course over the spring and summer. It is one of my favorite layouts in Central Florida.
Super slow greens
Gorgeous views but greens are super slow and far ways and tee boxes in horrible conditions. Great views though
Too slow
Course was in excellent condition but the playing time horrendous. Tee time at 1:35. Had 3 full groups in front and three waiting on the time. Did not allow to start at back nine to alleviate packed starting tee. Started at 1:35 p.m finished exactly at 6:30 p.m unnecessary golf time of 5 hours for a two som.
Great Layout
Great Layout, Good greens. Lousy Tees and fairways.
Good course with marginal conditions
This course has great elevation changes. Views of the surrounding countryside are very nice. There are several truly unique holes. However, there is very little green grass on the tee boxes and fairways making fairway wood and iron shots difficult. The greens are lush, but they are the slowest greens I have played in 40 years of golf.
