The Plantation Golf Club - Cranes Roost Course

About
The Cranes Roost Course is one of two championship courses at the Plantation at Leesburg. This semi-private golf course features dramatic elevation changes of up to 170 feet. The hilly terrain provides rolling fairways and undulating greens. Water hazards also come into play through much of the golf course, providing further challenge. The Cranes Roost Course accommodates golfers of all skill levels, but it can be especially challenging if taken too casually. In addition to the two golf courses, the Plantation at Leesburg offers a practice facility for golfers to work on their short game as well as a pro shop and staff of golf professionals.

cranesroost
when I booked, I thought I booked cranes roost from the list that was on your website ididnt notice until we got there that I paid for otters creek . I wasvery disappointed.I guess I have tobe more careful
Tight very tight
Leesburg has some very nice course and this week I chose Otter Creek at Plantation. The personnel was very friendly and the practice facilities were good. However this course was very tough because of the tightness of the fairways. The greens were small but in good shape, the tee boxes were large. The fairways were lush but were very narrow. I will not play this course again unless I really want a whipping. This course is not for the faint of heart. Otter Creek must be the older course, the mature oak trees make it a funnel and tough to make a good score. Homes are too close to the out of bounds markers. Good luck
Features "revenge of the otters"
Pleasent older layout. Several narrow fairways and doglegs make accurate shots a nessesity. Fairways were wet and soft and greens were fast. Fair amount of water and sand added to overall challenge.
Fantastic condition
This course is always a pleasure to play. The staff and golfers are extremely courteous, pleasant and patient. The course is very well maintained and groomed!
Great Spot for Winter Golf
It's almost impossible to get a tee time in The Villages during "the season" with a guest. Plantation offered a reasonable price and available tee times where "guest" or "premier" golfer makes no difference. Will definitely return.
Dogleg challenge
Course was in very good condition. Cart path only on a few of the holes on the back nine- soft ground. The doglegs on the 13,14,15 need an accurate tee shot and club selection and accuracy are key! We enjoyed playing this course and will play it again soon!
great course
The fairways were great and was in great shape. The greens were fast but it added a challenge. Would play there again.
slowness cut in golfers
back nine start was fine moved along nicely got to the front nine was very slow think another 4 some was added was very slow after that
A Great Course
This is an older course with wonderful large oak trees that make for some tight fairways. The fairways have grass, the greens are fast and the rough is dormant but consistently fluffy with few bare spots. Beware of Otter Creek's own "Amen Corner".
good course
Good course for all type of players, also a good price.
nice course and tigth
course was in good shape and the greens were firm but rolled very well and had some contour
course was fair but a lot of the tee shots needed a very accurate tee
shot to set up your approach to the green
I had to play very conservative to score well
not a grip it and rip it course
excellent value for the cost to play
Good Golf
Course was in good shape. Part of back 9 was cart path only which slowed up play.
Apparently, the group behind us could not read the signs and were hitting into us.
Overall, the course was in good shape
As of 01/26/14 course in great shape
I play on Cranes Roost around 2 or 3 times a month. It is a wide open, easy course without too many places to lose a ball. The conditions are usually very good. The fairways are always in perfect condition while I have to admit the greens can be hit or miss at times. On this day however they were very fast and rolled true. My brother, who is an excellent putter had trouble because we're not used to playing such fast greens in the area.
The pro shop staff is always friendly, especially Justin. Great value for your money. You won't be disappointed.
note: I would highly recommend bringing a range finder. The yardages on the par 3's are not accurate. Also, do not judge the greens based on the putting green. For some reason they have had trouble with it for years. (Trees blocking out the sun?)
Course in really good condition
Was a 1:00 om shotgun start. We started on 5 as 5B. However there was a 3rd group on 5 and they started before group 5A which then made it a quite slow round. The 3rd group was not scheduled to start on 5. Don't know what happened, but suspect they were residents with their own cart and just went out and played ??? The course management should watch for this type of incident. May cause people not to return to their course.
Great day
Played Crane's Roost it was very good condition and the people where very good .
Great Day
Played Cranes Roost. Great course for the money. Greens are moderate speed. Good layout with forgiveness for the stray shots.
Short course - Decent value
This is a very short course and only 5863 from the tips. It is in reasonably good shape and has some interesting holes on the back 9 in particular. The lack of length will make this unattractive to a long hitter as it will take the driver out of play on many holes.
was exciting
the course was very challenging and you have to be precise....was the third time we played this course in a week. we love it
Bob
Great course, great condition, weather was perfect for playing and great company!!!!
