The Plantation Golf Club - Cranes Roost Course

About
The Cranes Roost Course is one of two championship courses at the Plantation at Leesburg. This semi-private golf course features dramatic elevation changes of up to 170 feet. The hilly terrain provides rolling fairways and undulating greens. Water hazards also come into play through much of the golf course, providing further challenge. The Cranes Roost Course accommodates golfers of all skill levels, but it can be especially challenging if taken too casually. In addition to the two golf courses, the Plantation at Leesburg offers a practice facility for golfers to work on their short game as well as a pro shop and staff of golf professionals.

Excellent golf course!
The golf course was in excellent condition. Excellent pace of play. Great value for the money. A must play in Lake County.
Solid course, good value
Course is in very good shape - not too difficult but has its share of good holes - a couple of 190yards+ par three's on cranes roost are excellent golf holes.
Enjoyable to play.
The course is in excellent condition and would definitely play it again.
This course is always enjoyable to play and in at least good condition
Overseeding was a complete success. Thick lush tees, fairways and greens
Very nice short course
My buddy and I played on a Monday morning 8:30 shotgun start, we got paired up with an elderly couple and thought It was going to be a long round because of it being a retirement community, I couldn't have been more wrong, we played in 3 1/2 hours.
The course was in great shape, the greens were just a little slow because of recent over seeding, but all in all it was a fun course, and I will be back.
Do not look at the yardage an assume it is an easy course
Several unique holes, including a tightly guarded par 5 on the back 9. Interesting par 3's and shorter par 4's, but still challenging. The fairways were short of grass,so that increased the difficulty. Some seeding on th efariways and a couple of greens and this would be a great course.
Decent course but for the price it's worth it
I got a hot deal for a sunday afternoon for $9. For $9 almost any course is worth playing. While the rough is eh and the fairways are ok, the greens are in pretty good shape although a few could use a little checking. The layout itself isn't bad, it's a short course but some holes are quite narrow so you have to keep it straight. Otter's Revenge which is a group of 3 holes on the back are the toughest on the course requiring precision irons and tee shots. It's a shotmakers course but fun and for $9 it's a good course to work on your short game and irons.
Nice Course
We were a tad nervous when we arrived because we found out we were part of a shot-gun start. There was no mention of this on the Golfnow website when we booked the tee time. Had we known there was a shot gun start at the time we were preparing to tee off, we would have selected either another time or course.
Enjoyable recreational golf.
This was our first time we played this course although we have played Otter Creek, the second course at the Plantation, previously. The course was well maintained and although not overly long still provided an interesting and engaging round of golf. The staff were friendly and supportive. Would recommend this course and play it again.
Great greens,fairways and fast play
Best course,we played this Oct 2013,greens and fairways in great shape. Not busy,so pace of play was outstanding !!!!!
Interesting Course
A lot of interesting holes. Not a cookie cutter course, but well planned with challenges for all.
Nice course, friendly atmosphere.
I was scheduled to play the Otter Creek course at the Plantations but when I arrived I found the front nine closed for aireation. The person at check in apologized and gave me the option of playing the back side twice or playing the Cranes Roost course. I choose the Cranes Roost course and enjoyed a nice round of golf. Everyone there from the clubhouse personnel to the other players I met there were very freindly and will definitely be back.
Tight course
They have allowed the trees to grow in so that a number of holes are unreasonably tight
One of the best in the area.
Beautifully maintained. Fast greens. Always a good round.
Superb Value
Great course, back nine more challenging than front
Very nice amenities, SUPER VALUE when booked through Golf Now!!!!!
The Plantations at Leesburg Fl.
We enjoyed the rolling hills of this course, which is unusual for Flordia. I will play it again.
Nice Layout
The course was in good shape tee to green. The front nine played easier then the back nine. Probably because the back nine had a few holes where the fairways were tight. Holes 13 thru 15 are tough but if you played here a couple times would be manageable. All in all well worhth the price I paid.
Wonderful Open Course
Played the course for the first time yesterday and I must say I had a wonderful time. My husband played with me and it was a nice time out together and doing something we love (hitting a ball). I would recommend this course if you want to have a great time with friends and family. The staff there was wonderful, it was really hot and they provided cups of ice water at the beginning and they had ice and water on other holes. Living in Florida I don't get to see that much. I will play this course again.
Conditions
In spite of the recent heavy rains the course, Otter Creek, was in good shape. Standing water in some areas but marked as such. Even with that some people just cannot read or understand the rules, Otter's Revenge holes, so ruts are on some fairways where people have driven through. These are probably the same people that think it is cute to throw trash in the bushes even though there are trash receptacles at every hole.
