The Plantation Golf Club - Cranes Roost Course
About
The Cranes Roost Course is one of two championship courses at the Plantation at Leesburg. This semi-private golf course features dramatic elevation changes of up to 170 feet. The hilly terrain provides rolling fairways and undulating greens. Water hazards also come into play through much of the golf course, providing further challenge. The Cranes Roost Course accommodates golfers of all skill levels, but it can be especially challenging if taken too casually. In addition to the two golf courses, the Plantation at Leesburg offers a practice facility for golfers to work on their short game as well as a pro shop and staff of golf professionals.

Bang for your buck
Cranes Roost is a great course. Its wide open style is very forgving to average golfers. I enjoyed viewing wild life this course has to offer. The nermourous animals i saw were jack rabbits, armidillos and scrub jays. The staff in the pro shop were very friendly and helpful. The larger gentleman in the pro shop, Jim i believe his name was went out of his way to give us helpful tips about playing the course all while wearing some flashy hounds tooth pants. He really made the trip worth it. One thing i would like to see is maybe a golf league held in the afternoons. Where I live they hold one every wednesday night and it is quite enjoyable.
Holes 13,14,15 need to be played with much care , very challenging dog legs !
Plays well, many of the holes will challenge you for a good
ball placement off the tee ! Older course with some elevated
tees a nice contrasting course to the other Plantation Course
Cranes Roost . Both courses are well maintained and offered
at excellent value for the money !
play here frequently due to location and price at this time of year...enjoy this course very much and will continue to play here..
good to very good overall...enjoy crane's roost couse very much for a local course......
Nice course
The only problem we had, and have played this course 4-5 times in the past couple of months,,is,,,,the greens actually hold well,,,BUT,,,THEY ARE SLOW TO PUTT ON!!!!
Need to play it twice
The Otter creek has some challenging holes, with very tight fairways. Was able to take 10 strokes off my score the second time I played it.
In spite of the challenging weather we have experienced in Central Florida, the greens and fairways are in super shape. Great job done by the Superit
Great job by the grounds crew. In spite of the weather in Central Florida lately, the greens and fairways are in great shape!! Cranes Roost and Otter Creek Are both great courses to play.
Course in very good condition. Great value.
The course was in very good condition. We had a great time
playing in great weather.
Great value - good consitions
Good condition considering the drought. Greens plush and true, but not too fast. Tight course, leave the driver in the bag as much as possible. I will be back.
Great round at Otter Creek
Course was in good shape considering how dry it's been here. Greens were especially in good shape. Otters Revenge holes are tight but play it right and you'll be safe.
Nice course
Considering the drought, the course is in great shape. Nice variety of wide open and tight fairways. Especially with the Golfnow discounts, it's a bargain.
This course has many tempting risk/ reward features.
While other courses this time of year are showing drought stress and frost browning, this course was green and lush. Greens rolled true with no surprises.
short but sweet
This is a very short course, however it is a placement course. some holes driver is too much. for less then $30 including cart it is worth the price of admission. course was in very good shape this past sat.
Slooooooow day at Plantation.
Plantation is a really fun course and the price has always been great. It used to be in excellent condition but a couple of years ago the conditions became fairly poor. But...they came back to mixed. Some greens poor...others outstanding. We took a late afternoon tee time at a terrific price and could only have completed 18 if there was no backup. The course was overbooked. At 3:20 p.m. there were 6 carts waiting for the first fairway to clear. It stayed pretty much that way for the entire 11 holes we managed to play before dark. 3 hours and 15 minutes to play 11 holes. Playing 11 for what we paid was ok...but the entire 11 holes was...play a shot....wait...play a shot...wait. I say Plantation Crane's Roost should be on all must play lists but NOT ON A BUSY DAY.
This course has a mix of moderate to challenging holes
We really enjoyed our day at the golg course. We had a good day weather wise. The staff and golfers were friendly and respectful. The course was kept well and challenging enough to make the golfing interesting. We will visit this course again.
Thumbs up
I love this place. Great course to go with the great weather.
Otter Creek - tight and filled with lawncare crew
Really didnt enjoy myself here. Started out with a 40 minute delay for no reason>! (said there was frost delay, but we were at first tee box for 30mins with no sign on frost anywhere and sun shining!) the starter told us we would be going out first since we were there first after the delay; however proceeded to let 2other guys go out in front. Frustrating for me. Didnt even pair us. This Otter Creek course should be gutted out and closed down. They clearly didnt have enough room/ land to make a golf course here. Some of the worst holes i've seen in terms of layout. 17th hole had 7 tractors on it when we approached tee box !!! r u kidding me?! would not return eeven if it was free
Friendly folks, pretty course, greens need help.
Something must have happened in the past year since I last played this course (Crane's Roost). The greens used to be one of the best features of the course but now seem to have trouble on most all of them. Can't tell if they got stressed at some point or just haven't been cared for. If you can get past that point, the course offers some challenging holes - depending on which tees you pick, and there are enough of them to offer different looks. It's a good value and among the nicer courses in the area.
Only one drawback.
I think cart path only on the back nine is unnecessary for all the holes so designated. A 90 degree rule for some of these holes would speed up play considerably.
challaging greens
good lay out otter creek should be allowed to drive carts when real dry
Great value with 2 different courses to play.
I have been playing at The Plantation at Leesburg for 5 years and have never seen the course looking better. The plantation is a 36 hole facility with two great golf courses. Otter Creek is an old style course with tree lined fairways, small greens and can be a very good challenge. Cranes Roost is a fairly wide-open golf course that runs through small lakes and swamp/marsh lands. Both courses are fun to play, Otter Creek being more difficult than Cranes Roost. Suitable for all handicaps. This course is great value for the money and has a super friendly staff.
