The Plantation Golf Club - Cranes Roost Course
About
The Cranes Roost Course is one of two championship courses at the Plantation at Leesburg. This semi-private golf course features dramatic elevation changes of up to 170 feet. The hilly terrain provides rolling fairways and undulating greens. Water hazards also come into play through much of the golf course, providing further challenge. The Cranes Roost Course accommodates golfers of all skill levels, but it can be especially challenging if taken too casually. In addition to the two golf courses, the Plantation at Leesburg offers a practice facility for golfers to work on their short game as well as a pro shop and staff of golf professionals.

TIGHT FAIRWAYS
TIGHT FAIRWAYS. SLOW GREENS. DIDN'T LIKE CART PATH ONLY ON SEVERAL GREEN ON BACK. FRONT SIDE WAS NICE.
Greens are struggling.
Interesting holes. Greens are showing overuse. Patching makes putting frustrating.
All Doglegs!
Crane's Roost circles a swampy area, and about 2/3 of the holes are dogleg left. Condition is above average for a Florida course at this time of year (February), with watered fairways and greens and short, mostly dead rough. Both the fairways and greens are contoured, with few level areas on the entire course. Overall, it is an interesting and playable course.
Great value!
I liked having two courses to play, Otter Creek and Cranes Roost. Good lies in fairways and greens rolled well. Clean, well kept golf courses. Otter Creek has a peaceful old Florida course feel- dog legs and trees. Cranes Roost is more wide open, having elevation changes and undulation. A great value for my $30. With afternoon tee times and hot deals at $18 and less, I will return.
Great course and staff!
Love the lay out of the course, is user friendly, has several tees to play off of.
Enjoyable course with many trees
The front nine were great but the back had many cart path only
holes which were tight. It was target golf for a few of them.
But, it was an enjoyable day and I would recommend the course to others.
Similar to Highlands Ridge GC - North Course
More like Lynx style. Setting in large subdivision. Have to play straight 18 holes, once you leave club house, you don't see it again until after 18th. Fun course w/ wide landing areas. Not pristine but well maintained. Tee boxes in decent shape. Fairways are plush. Has some nice unique holes. Greens are larger than Otter Creek courses greens, about same pace for speed: medium fast. Carts have windshields & rain cover in back.
Tough course for high handicapper
Nice looking place, course is narrow and challenging for a newbie.
good challenge
The greens are a little slow but overall with the exception of # 17 were in good shape.
A very tight course that requires good course management
Georgious Fairways and views
The tees, fairways, and the scenery were excellent and it has plenty of elevation change. The green are in rough shape with some having bare dirt. It looks like they seeded the greens so hopefully soon it will complete this beautiful course.
I would definitely play it again for $12
I had a very good time. Friendly golfers and staff were all very nice. Course was in decent shape and a challenging enough
layout. I also would like to comment of your staff who have also been very helpful and extremely patient and nice whenever I call for help. Paul
Regardless of the greens I would recommend this course as very good value for the money.
Course in generally good condition with the exception of at least half the greens each of which had several areas of undergrown, very thin grass. Aesthetics are nice with marshy areas and some fairways, that do wind through housing, are wide enough so that lawns/yards aren't a factor. A better than average test even for a sub-ten handicapper.
Good Condition, Very Good Deal
I have played Plantation, Otter Creek in the past and condition was somewhat below par. This time during peek winter season, course was well maintained with green fairways and putting surfaces. Always a challenge, especially the signature 5 holes on the back nine. Greens in good condition, not spotty but a bit slow. That is the only complaint. Maybe overseed them in spring, but green and true for now. And for $12, come on, you can't go wrong. If you like playing different places from time to time, don't overlook this one just because the low price may make you question condition. A challenging layout with a variety of looks and a lot of doglegs. Give it a try, I think you will like it.
Short and tricky. Not enough yardage info to score well.
There needs to be more yardage markers, a caddy or pocket pro info book. The Otter's Revenge is a series of challenging par 4 and 5's. There are no yardage on the lay ups required to land safely. Added at least 10 strokes to my round. Fairways are excellent and greens are in good shape. Enjoyable but frustrating round.
course is convienent
Greens were in good condition, overseeded fairways also in good condition. Pace of play was normal, just minor wait time.
course was in sorry shape. compared to others in the area.
greens were poor.. bumpy, sandy and bear in spots. sand traps never raked after the rain...
to many leaves left unattended in fairways..
I would recommend this course.
We play this course two or or three times a year when visiting the in-laws. This course has challenging holes. The par threes, look easy but can present some challanges.
The course is very well maintained an worth the price to play,
.
Nice course
Fairways and greens in great shape. One of the best courses we have played this winter.
Great Value/ Back 9 on Otter Creek has 4 cart path only holes
Had a wonderful time there but I do believe that the back 9 at Otter Creek needs some work. The 1st 6 holes are cart path only because of drainage issues. Maybe some reworking of the drainage system would help. Also several holes have huge Live Oaks in the middle of the fairway requiring severe shot making capabilities a lot of us retirees no longer have. To be fair 2 of holes are par 3s so it is only 4 holes requiring a walk. Still it seems that some drainage pipes might help. For $11 what a deal though. Will definitely be back.
