The Plantation Golf Club - Cranes Roost Course

About
The Cranes Roost Course is one of two championship courses at the Plantation at Leesburg. This semi-private golf course features dramatic elevation changes of up to 170 feet. The hilly terrain provides rolling fairways and undulating greens. Water hazards also come into play through much of the golf course, providing further challenge. The Cranes Roost Course accommodates golfers of all skill levels, but it can be especially challenging if taken too casually. In addition to the two golf courses, the Plantation at Leesburg offers a practice facility for golfers to work on their short game as well as a pro shop and staff of golf professionals.

course is convienent
Greens were in good condition, overseeded fairways also in good condition. Pace of play was normal, just minor wait time.
course was in sorry shape. compared to others in the area.
greens were poor.. bumpy, sandy and bear in spots. sand traps never raked after the rain...
to many leaves left unattended in fairways..
I would recommend this course.
We play this course two or or three times a year when visiting the in-laws. This course has challenging holes. The par threes, look easy but can present some challanges.
The course is very well maintained an worth the price to play,
.
Nice course
Fairways and greens in great shape. One of the best courses we have played this winter.
Great Value/ Back 9 on Otter Creek has 4 cart path only holes
Had a wonderful time there but I do believe that the back 9 at Otter Creek needs some work. The 1st 6 holes are cart path only because of drainage issues. Maybe some reworking of the drainage system would help. Also several holes have huge Live Oaks in the middle of the fairway requiring severe shot making capabilities a lot of us retirees no longer have. To be fair 2 of holes are par 3s so it is only 4 holes requiring a walk. Still it seems that some drainage pipes might help. For $11 what a deal though. Will definitely be back.
Tees and Fairways were excellent...some greens were a little sparse.
Very Good value. Deep sand traps and no water hazards.
Tight, Tree line course
Even though it is only 6,100 yds. from the back Tee's, this is a very tight, tree lined course that requires accurate shots from Tee to Green. The coruse is in very good condition, only a couple of greens showed signs of heavy play.
Fun & enjoyable course. Definitely has character.
Well maintained but not pristine course. Tree lined so target golf: very challenging. Majority of greens in great condition. There is a couple that needs watering to bring it back otherwise they roll true but medium paced only. Fairways are pretty carpeted w/ grass. The "Otters Revenge", holes 13-15 are not only tough tee shots, but involve a lot walking since these holes are cart path only. Carts are new. Have windshields but no rain cover for bags in back. All in all a fun course to play.
nice course for less than $30.00.
some of the greens need work, fairways are good. staff is friendly.
Narrow fairways and lots of trees
The front 9, while an interesting layout, is just a warm-up for what awaits you on the back, especially a 3-hole stretch (13-15) called "Otter's Revenge". The fairways are narrow and position is much more important than distance. If you hit to the wrong spot you have no chance of reaching the green in regulation. The greens have subtle undulations, there are several bunkers that come into play, some water, but the big draw is the demand for accuracy. Bring some extra golf balls!!
course needs work
Fairways and tee box were very long. Even longer than the second cut. The greens were basically dirt there was no way to play. The pace of play was horrible i waited in each tee box at least ten minutes or more. It seems like a seniors course. The Giles are real short if you hit your driver 250+ then each hole will be driver then 100 yards in. I only pulled one iron out of my bag. I did not enjoy this course nor will i visit here again.
Very nice and in great shape for November
I got to play both courses while I've been here from Michigan and have been very happy. A big well done to both courses and looking forward to playing them again.
Well maintained shortish course.
We found this course to be mostly in excellent condition although some of the greens were not 100 per cent. It was easier than we expected and would be no challenge to a single figure handicap player. It only has one do or die hole, but we will certainly play it again at the right price.
The course is very well mantainfed
It was a pleasure playing at Plantation Utter Creek, I really enjoyed being there.
Have to walk 5 holes, stay off fairway
waited 10 min. for other 2 players to show up (strangers but no problem). Never showed. Ran into a foursome, then twosome infront of us. Slowed down, but finished 3 /2 hrs.
The greens need some attention as they were rough and bumpy, also had several bare spots.
Would play again but would not pay full price to play there.
the course is in good shape but some greens need work
i have nothing to say say say say say say say say say say say say sayh
Friendly staff, good condition and not too difficult. A good value for the money.

Slow but enjoyable
They need a ranger to keep pace of play, but other than that a great day. The course is VERY enjoyable and we will definately be back.
