Unregulated
The course was nice but the pace was an absolute joke! There were no marshalls out there, it took 5 hours to complete 18 holes. The group in front of us were all drunk beyond belief, the group in front of them were all walking and taking forever looking for balls not keeping pace. I watched them look in the dead stuff for 20 minutes. I had to yell at them to drop to keep playing. For the price you pay there, that's completely unacceptable
greens were good
Easy course, a little rough around the edges. Greens were in good shape.
Great Course
I had not played spring valley in a while, but will again soon. The course condition was excellent, pace of play was 4 hours. Enjoyable experience!
Nice and Quiet
First time here. Course and green conditions were really good. Well maintained. Hillside golf so there are changing elevations and the greens were tough on me as they had plenty of undulation and slopes. Lots of three putts. Definitely would take lots of rounds to master where to land and play those greens.
There is virtually no cell phone signal in this canyon so your golf apps won't work . Which as a first time golfer there made it hard to read course and there is no yardage markers except for the standard 150 and 100 yd.
Morning rates are pretty high but good value in the later afternoon times
Nice Playable Course
This is a decent course. Conditions were good. greens are really in great shape. It's fairly short and not very difficult as there are no real hazards to deal with. But it's enjoyable for average golfers and a good value for the price. Pretty decent facility overall. Definitely would go back.
Great value and location
Excellent value. For being near Silicon Valley you feel like you are away from it all on this course. Fairly easy course with few water hazards, sand traps, and short length.
Must fix Pace of Play
Ok, the course is pretty nice and friendly staff, BUT IT TOOK US 3 HOURS TO PLAY TO FRONT NINE!!! AND THE MARSHAL WAS THERE RIDING AROUND BUT DIDN'T FIX IT!!!
No one wants to play 5.5 hr rounds (which was the final result). This course has got to manage pace of play. We will not be going back.
Awesome course
Truly a great course with challenging greens due to mountain settings.Course was a bit soggy but understandable due to recent rains.
Closed Holes Yet No Discount
Spring Valley Golf Course is in my rotation of South Bay courses to play. Due to the rains, Calavaras Rd was closed and detoured to Old Calavaras Rd to get to the course. No problem at all but good to know. At the course, hole 2 was closed and we "teed off" from the 150 yd market on hole 3. I think the course should have offered some discount as we basically played a 16.5 hole round of golf vs the normal 18 holes.
Handicap Golfer
I wrote on February 25th about a bad experience I had. After posting my reveiw I receveved a phone call from Jeff Rockwood the General Manager he was very nice and took the time to hear my story. All said and done he is working with his staff to make sure handicap golfers will be taken care of. I want to thank Jeff is a stand up guy, and I am looking forward to playing there in the spring
Good
Yes it's good but it's muddy and three holes I want to downhill but is good for us this Monday
Good condition
Played from the blue tees.... Nice long challenging par 3's
Good course
Only played here a few times but seem to play well when I do. Decent course in decent shape. Only played because I got an extra 25% discount which brought the "hot deal" down to a level I'm willing to pay. Brief interaction with the staff was good. I got there early and was let out early as there was space available.
One thing I have questioned... Hole #2 is a par 3 and there are two of them. Supposedly they alternate between them for which one they use. They are right in line with each other and I often wonder why they don't link them together to make a long 4 or short 5 out of it. The course is currently a par 70 and making it a 71 or 72 would be a little better I should think.
I would recommend the course if you can get it at the right price as it plays a little on the happy side of easy and is in good shape.
Great tune up course to rebuild confidence
What a great all around course. It's a bit on the easier side with only a 70 slope rating but it's such a blast to play. I like to use this course as a tune-up course to play before a tournament. Largely because it's fun, there are a lot of very nice layouts, and it's still very challenging. I carry a 13 handicap and usually break 80 which puts me in a great state of mind for more challenging courses like Cinnabar hills.
Definitely recommend it... oh and the French Toast is amazing!
Course is a par 70, slope rating is 116 from the blue tees, easy, but not THAT easy.
It was a par 4 years ago. You could not tell if the group ahead of you was gone. Most second shots were an extreme downhill lie, and it slowed the pace to a crawl.
