About
Northern California's San Juan Oaks Golf Club is located halfway between the Silicon Valley and Monterey Peninsula off Highway 101 near the historic town of San Juan Bautista in Hollister. Opened in 1996, the 18-hole golf course is Fred Couples' first signature design in California and features five sets of tees for varying skill levels. It's also home to "Club Boom Boom," a popular junior teaching program. On top of the golf course, San Juan Oaks is known especially for its elaborate facilities including banquet rooms and patios for group outings, as well as driving range and practice greens.

Nice layout
SJO is a challenging hillside course, bunkers need attention but other than that it's a great facility.

Greens are good now go play!
Greens are as good as they get here right now. Very good pace of play today. Twosome walking played in 3:15! Golf as it should be. Still some wet areas but very playable.

Great layout, setting, condition, staff. Such a good value that we continue to play here more often then not because of what is offered at the same price as lesser venues.

Great, but...
Course is in great shape right now. Greens are soft and receptive even though we just finished summer. Fairways are firm and give decent rollout. We didn't wait to hit a single shot on the front 9,but when we got to the 12th or 13th hole the pace completely died. 2 groups waiting on every tee box. We were told there was a 5some ahead that was slowing things up, yet I never saw a martial. Other than that and 4 double bogeys, it was a great day.

San Juan is a nice course with some great challenging holes
Only negative are the bunkers need redoing

Course conditions were excellent Greens were very nice overall condition of course was very good A few wet areas but did not effect play.

Great Track
We played in a little over 4 hrs as a foursome. Great variety of holes and tee options. Course was in very good condition. Greens where a little slow but I gather it's due to hot weather and they will a little faster as Fall approaches.
I like the design and the option that you can bump and run many approach shots if you choose. The wind comes up in the afternoon 2 plus clubs and it's quite challenging.
Staff in the pro shop are awesome and The SJO burger is dynamite.
Not crowded we teed it up at 10 am on a Sunday.
Nice course!
This is a hidden gem! I am from out of state, working here for a few months and found a good deal to play here. The course was in great shape other than being a little soppy in a few areas. I was playing alone so got held up a little bit but that's to be expected.
The bartendress on duty that day was a little short with me but most of the employees were kind and helpful. All in all a great place to golf!
Nice, but could be better.
The layout and scenery at San Juan Oaks is top notch. Greens and fairways are in good condition. The lack of quality sand in the traps makes for a less than outstanding experience. But all in all, for the money this is a very nice course.
