San Juan Oaks Golf Club
About
Northern California's San Juan Oaks Golf Club is located halfway between the Silicon Valley and Monterey Peninsula off Highway 101 near the historic town of San Juan Bautista in Hollister. Opened in 1996, the 18-hole golf course is Fred Couples' first signature design in California and features five sets of tees for varying skill levels. It's also home to "Club Boom Boom," a popular junior teaching program. On top of the golf course, San Juan Oaks is known especially for its elaborate facilities including banquet rooms and patios for group outings, as well as driving range and practice greens.

San Juan Oaks Golf Club Photo submitted by cjhsieh on 09/25/2012
Wonderful day for golf.
Perfect weather. Excellent staff in pro shop and restaurant. Greens and fairway were in great shape. Looking forward to play it again.
Enjoyment!
Always enjoy playing this course.
On this particular day play was slower than usually.
Will go at it again in the future.
Great place and challenge!
Outstanding public layout
Outstanding Fred Couples design in great condition, except no sand in the bunkers. Similar in many ways to Corde Valle, without the pricey entrance fee. Currently, it's a bargain to play this scenic, natural beauty. Anyone visiting the San Jose/Monterey area should play this golf course.
Friendly staff.
Grass driving range.
Afterwards, visit quaint San Juan Bautista.
San Juan Oaks
We started early in the morning before the wind picks up. It was a beautiful day of sunshine and golf. The course is very well maintained the putting greens roll great and putt true.
If you like to eat after your round try the 50M salad. They source ingredients within a 50 mile radius of the golf course. Yum.
Love San Juan Oaks
This course just gets better and better. Food is good too.
Great Course that Needs a Little TLC
Almost everything about this course is superb: the staff, the views, the fairways, the greens. From the moment I entered the pro shop I was impressed with every aspect.
The only negative is the sand traps are like hitting off of concrete; it's bad enough trying to hit out of a sand trap to begin with, but these sand traps are absolutely atrocious. My advice: stay clear of the traps and you will not have a single complaint about your experience. In spite of the traps, I will be back.
Great Shape
The course is in excellent shape and greens are very fast now. Can't wait to play it again.
San Juan Osks
This is third time I have played at this course it truly is a measure of your game. The only knock is the wind They mowed back all the overgrowth which made it easy to find wayward shots. The course was in excellent shape. Can not wait to drive back and play again
Mr
Bunkers bad ruf cut need to clean up a lot of ticks
Great Course
Beautiful setting and challenging course. The rough was high and there were snake warnings so we lost a fair number of balls.
Challenging course
Very nice course with very good facilities. Got an excellent value on GolfNow.com. Course conditions were good however greens could have been a bit quicker. Played early in the morning and unfortunately was behind a fairly slow foursome. Overall a very good day and would recommend.
NO sand in the bunkers!, they need to spend some money.....especially for the Rates they charge.
Nice course
Nice course with a few interesting holes. Course is in good shape after the rains although the greens were slow. Men's locker is very small and was not clean
SJO in prime condition
After a winter of generous rain, San Juan Oaks is in superlative condition. The fairways and greens could not be in better shape. The course remains my favorite in the South Bay.
Great, but windy
Beautiful course in great condition, but the constant winds which I've experienced every time I've played here really take away from the playability. Nobody likes to come up short with a well struck 4 iron from 170 out.
Wonderful manicured course
Smooth greens, well manicured fairways, and good selections of pin placements. Add to that the pleasure of playing a course with zero homes on it with the back drop of foothills on the front and soaring vistas on the back. On top of that It's a challenging course design that is both fair and tough at the same time. If you give each hole a bit of thought before you hit your next shot a good score can be had though. All of this makes for a great course. Most defiantly a hidden gem.
