San Juan Oaks Golf Club
About
Northern California's San Juan Oaks Golf Club is located halfway between the Silicon Valley and Monterey Peninsula off Highway 101 near the historic town of San Juan Bautista in Hollister. Opened in 1996, the 18-hole golf course is Fred Couples' first signature design in California and features five sets of tees for varying skill levels. It's also home to "Club Boom Boom," a popular junior teaching program. On top of the golf course, San Juan Oaks is known especially for its elaborate facilities including banquet rooms and patios for group outings, as well as driving range and practice greens.

Quiet Time
Amazing turf conditions (and especially the greens) for the last three times having played here this year.Seperated just enough from the outside world to fully enjoy quality time golfing on this Freddie Couples design.Demanding layout makes you want to play well regardless.Wonderful facility and courteous staff throughout.
Gorgeous... The best in the Bay Area !
Beautiful condition...So nice to play ...Wonderful views, wildlife. Just a treat to be out and playing in such a well maintained setting. Staff very welcoming, food and beverage delicious.
Hot Day - Green Course
We happened to play on an extremely warm, perhaps hot, day - 102'. Still, the course was is great shape and green. My guess is the warm temps kept some golfers away, so it felt like we had the course to ourselves.
The staff was extremely friendly and the facilitites are top notch.
Good Course, enjoyable round
Nice, pretty, fair & well-maintained course. Good value for the cost. Very scenic in places. Should have ball washers on every hole, not just the 8 or 9 spread over the 18 holes.
A great golf experience!
An outstanding golf experience. The course was in excellent condition and very well maintained. The only negative was the sand in the traps were very wet and compacted but not exceptionally difficult to hit out of. I highly recommend playing San Juan Oaks, it's well worth the drive.
awesome
Very well maintain course it lives up to the Freddy couples place nice layout and the greens perfect smooth fast and well taken care of. If get a chance make it out there.
San Juan a Plus
Great course lay out. Pace was also good. Fairways and greens in good condition. Great staff and service.
San Juan is just a "hoot" to play, and is a good value.
Wild life also around the fairways and fun to watch.
Only downer was the rough riding golf cart. Which also creaked loud enough from the front end to be bothersome. Quickly learned to crawl over bumps after jarring the heck out of my back on a little rough spot.
Will return to play again !

One of the quietest and most well-maintained courses I play
Beware of wind
The quality of the greens, fairways, and rough are op notch. A quality course with a great pace of play, I finished in 3 hours 15 minutes. In the Bay Area it's almost impossible to finish in less than 5 hours the pace is so slow.
However, this course is extremely windy!!! Maybe others knew this, and is why the course was empty on a Saturday and I was able to play so fast, but it was in my top 5 windiest rounds ever. This made an already tough course almost impossible to navigate, making it quite frustrating at times.
It's a great course with some fun, interesting holes, but the wind can be downright vicious. If you haven't played it before you should definitely check it out, maybe you'll have more luck than me, and if you're good at controlling your ball flight you'll enjoy the creative layout.
RD
It is one of the best place I have ever played. Course is well kept and the greens are great. Had home great friendly people working there.
What a great experience
The course is set up so well.
I really enjoy San Juan, the layout and all the stuff they do to make it very enjoyable.
Pristine nature meets golf course
I was extremely impressed. Being a member at a private club in Carmel, I'm used to a high level of service and course management. San Juan oaks was at a much higher level than I expected. The brunch was great, but the course was fantastic. Your in a place where nature is undisturbed and each hole is framed inside of it. It's a fair course, greens and fairways are awesome. The one and only negative remark I have is the bunkers were not fair to play as they lacked sand. Over all.... I'm definitely going back very soon!!
San Juan Oaks review
Course in great condition. They do need a beverage cart on warm days like today. Looking forward to another round here.
This course a nice array of holes (short, long)
The course is challenging but not absurdly difficult. I had played here before about 20 years ago, I did not recall the wind. The wind was very strong.
Playing downwind was hitting 9 irons from 150, while going into the wind on the 9th hole hit a 7 iron from 115.
Would like the play the course again without the 30-40mph wind. Felt like I was playing the British Open at times.
Nice views
I walked the course and it was just about right for me.
There were some challenging holes and I enjoyed the course. I will play it again. Oh, the sand was VERY hard so that is the only drawback I found.
Great Course and excellent conditions
The course was amazing, even with the drought everything was lush and greens rolled true! But the course staff has to wake up and make sure to properly space out the tee times. We were supposed to tee off at 8:40, but didn't tee off til 8:58, and then proceeded to wait on every single shot for the whole round. Simply cause the pro shop tried to squeeze a group in that showed up late! We didn't finish til about 1:50.
Other than that we had a great day and enjoyed the course as always
Great course at a great price
What a beautiful facility. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Course was in great shape, a little wet from them watering. Looking forward to playing here again!
What Drought?
The course was in very good shape. I was surprised how wet the course was...very well watered. The only low point was that the bunkers were not very well maintained in comparison to the remainder of the course.
