San Juan Oaks Golf Club
About
Northern California's San Juan Oaks Golf Club is located halfway between the Silicon Valley and Monterey Peninsula off Highway 101 near the historic town of San Juan Bautista in Hollister. Opened in 1996, the 18-hole golf course is Fred Couples' first signature design in California and features five sets of tees for varying skill levels. It's also home to "Club Boom Boom," a popular junior teaching program. On top of the golf course, San Juan Oaks is known especially for its elaborate facilities including banquet rooms and patios for group outings, as well as driving range and practice greens.

San Juan Oaks Golf Club Photo submitted by cjhsieh on 09/25/2012
Don't miss it!
A truly great golf course. Well bunkered greens & fairways make for a tough scoring course, but good shot are rewarded with smooth, true-rolling greens. Beautiful scenery and NO HOMES! make this a true pleasure to play.
San Juan oaks
Fast greens, made it tough on the first few holes. If you can adjust quick your good to go. Bunkers looked nice but were hard in surface on some. All in all good course. Definitely would recommend you play. Great views. Contrasts between the course and the scenery were great. Very well maintained on greens roughs and fairways.
This course is a must play in the area.
Loved everything about this course. So well thought out in every aspect. Beautiful pro shop/restaurant and one of the nicest driving ranges I've ever been on. Played with my fiancé who was very pleased with the women's tees. 5 sets of tees make the course enjoyable for golfers of every level. All staff was beyond courteous and professional. I really can't say enough about this course, it was an experience to be remembered, and I will go back every time I'm in the area. Go Freddy!!!!
great course, one of the best around
Excellent course in great condition with very friendly staff. Have had some very good prices on G Now recently
Very fun track!!!
This is a great track that is difficult yet fair! The condition of the tack was great! The greens were firm and fast and rolled true!!!
tough track
Pace of play was so slow mid-week that I left after playing only 9 holes.
very courteous staff.
food was very good.
Beautiful course
Challenging but fun. Windy in the afternoons but I recommend playing here.
forecaddy anyone?
Yes, the current drought has left the course in need of care only a good soaking can provide. Well struck balls bound where they were never intended to go, but; I intend to visit the course again in better times.
I reviewed the play suggestions online before going and found them to be way off on many holes. Play was also very slow considering the number of players that day. A knowledgeable forecaddie would have been just the ticket. Maybe I expected too much for a course in a region with so many other great courses. Love the actual layout...now, if only it was maintained better.
Too pricey
The price should be closer to $55.00 Bunkers where not raked from the previous day.
Great course
I like this course because it's very scenic, well kept, fun to play and relax.
Good Couse in the California Hills
An entertaining course, good layout, moderately challenging
Best deal in the Bay Area!!
The course was in great shape with well manicured grass from tee to green and even the rough. The course also featured beautiful views and exciting shots. I highly recommend this course to anyone who is considering playing at San Juan Oaks.
A course you will want to play again
Always Love playing this course. It's always been in great condition. Very playable course, but not easy. Women get a fair advantage for tee boxes (played with the wife this time). Pace of play was good, nobody behind us the whole round. This is a course you will want go come back and play. Mike the cart guy was very nice to talk with, Pleasant staff in pro shop.
Worth the drive!
I love San Juan Oaks. ice little 45 minute drive from the San Jose Area, and worth every minute.
Great layout, the front nine is pretty tame in comparison to the back nine with holes named 'Split the Difference" and "Eagles Flight".
Greens roll very true and a bit on the quick side. Fairways are manicured nicely and the rough is generally going to cost you a shot.
Grass driving range and chipping area and a large practice green that this the same consistency of the course greens.
normal weekend rate on Golf Now is 100, I played last Sunday for 69. Worth every dollar.
Course worth drive
This course will challenge you front nine sets
You up. You need fairway control on the back.
Greens roll fast and smooth.
Grand November day!
A bit breezy and cool toward late afternoon, but to be expected
this time of year.
Fred Couples design
Fades off the tee; sharp breaks around the hole, with exceptions to catch you unwary
Impressed with maintenance in drought conditions
Enjoyed very much ~ friendly staff and interesting course. Slow play, but allowed to play through a foursome once they had a lost ball.
Lovely course with beautiful challenges on every hole.
San Juan Oaks is a great course and is maintained in beautiful condition. A variety of tees makes this course fun and challenging for all types of golfers. The pace of play on the day I played was somewhat slow but other than that I have no complaints.
Super, including service
The course is beautifully situated. Instead of houses, the holes are bordered by lovely natural hills, with many large trees. Fine layout, with a particularly exciting back nine. Greens interesting, challenging, and well-maintained. A notable feature was the friendliness, helpfulness, and attention to detail of the staff.
