San Juan Oaks Golf Club
About
Northern California's San Juan Oaks Golf Club is located halfway between the Silicon Valley and Monterey Peninsula off Highway 101 near the historic town of San Juan Bautista in Hollister. Opened in 1996, the 18-hole golf course is Fred Couples' first signature design in California and features five sets of tees for varying skill levels. It's also home to "Club Boom Boom," a popular junior teaching program. On top of the golf course, San Juan Oaks is known especially for its elaborate facilities including banquet rooms and patios for group outings, as well as driving range and practice greens.

San Juan Oaks Golf Club Photo submitted by cjhsieh on 09/25/2012
good for all levels.pick the right tees.have fun
fun course.used every club in my bag.pick the right tees.
around each corner was an exciting challenge.
I am really impressed with San Juan Oaks golf course, the setting back in the rolling hills along trickling creeks. The greens were among some of the best I've seen, the out of bounds were better care than some other courses.
Wish it was closer to my house
Challenging, but not punishing.... You can think your way around the course. Some of the pin placements can be very tricky. The wind can be a factor especially 2~4 PM.
Challenging but Interesting
This course is very challenging, well bunkered, with long rough and set in rolling hills with several carries off the Tee or on 2nd shots. If you usually play flat courses, don't be surprised if you score at least 5 stokes higher here. Greens are quick and in some places, if you are above the hole you will have a hard time stopping the ball near the hole if it doesn't go in. Weekday prices make it a fun experience.
great shape
we had a frost delay but the staff let us know right away and what the plan was. This gave us time to putt a few more and grab something to eat. The airlines could learn something here, proper information on delays go a long way.
the course was in great shape, greens ran true.
Very nice course
For February, the course was in excellent condition. Most courses in February are in need of maintenance. The greens were great condition, fairly fast, not to hard. The fairways were in great condition. The rough in some areas was very thick. Forget about finding your ball. Holes 13, 14, 15 are the most difficult. You have to play for position, you cannot just hit it hard and hope. First time playing the course and I will be back.
Beautiful course, well maintained, nice challenge.
My favorite course in the area. A little pricy @89. Should be 75.
Great course and a great deal.
I really like this course even though it is a bit of a drive for me I still find myself going there.
Hollister hills, long par 5, challenging greens.
Course in great shape, greens rolled nice and true. Fairways were cut and full. Course in summer condition.
Excellent value for the money
Course was good condition given the recent rain. Divots in the fairway were being repaired, a good sign of the course staff. New carts are good, GPS and/or ball cleaners on the cart would have been nice. A clear way to distinguish the experience from other courses as not all holes have ball cleaners.
Greens were in good condition but not rolling as fast as summer months. Definitely not the fast greens as you would find at nearby Bayonet.
Overall worth the drive from SJC.
The course is very nice.
Great course and very challenging. Very well maintained.
Beautiful,challenging course
Nice course layout. Some really nice challenging holes. Pro shop staff very friendly. I had a gift certificate (9 years old), that was wrinkled, torn and faded that they redeemed pleasantly. Overall very nice experience
great conditions - No wind
the course was in very good shape and yesterday was perfect - no wind and mild temps. great conditions to score well, great turf, and very true greens.
Well maintained course with several picturesque holes
The course was well maintained. For me, it was the first time playing there and I found it pretty challenging due to the many changes in elevation on the back nine. Overall a fun experience and will definitely play there again.
LUV this course
wonderful course, very good weekday price, excellent condition
Nobody likes a five hour round
Have played the course several times before and the pace of play has always been slow. I like the course in general, but this time the greens needed some TLC. A bit lumpy.
Fun course and fair if played from the proper set of tees
The course was in good shape some of the greens were alittle slow even for this time of year. A fun layout with the back nine really making you refine your shot making ability.
The wind was up giving it a true links feel as you navagated your way around.
There was a slow group that held us up on the front nine, but they stopped at the turn and let us play through and the pace was perfect the rest of the round.
Outstanding value
I have been playing SJO at least 3-4 times a year since 2000 - The course was in the BEST shape that I have seen it in those 12 years - my compliements to all involved - it was a truly enjoyable experience - BTW That back nine is TOUGH!!!!!!!!!
good
I was shocked that the flags were misplaced. Many times Blue was front or back. This confused all of us and cost me at least 4-5 strokes.
