Northdale Golf Club
About
Northdale Golf & Tennis Club remains one of the premier Tampa golf courses because of its affordable play, its use of water on 11 of 18 holes, bunkers, rolling undulations and contoured greens that really challenge players. Just 12 miles north of Tampa International Airport, this is a neighborhood golf course with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere that will add to the enjoyment of your day. Renowned golf course architect Ron Garl designed the par 72, 6824-yard championship golf course. Northdale Golf & Tennis Club winds its way through 180 plus acres of property that is home to Brushy Creek and a series of small lakes and unspoiled wooded areas.

Great Old Course
Only downside is no Driving range. Good putting green practice area.
No course management with tee times
It just seemed liked everyone had the same tee time because it took forever to finish the front 9 and we only got through 14 because of the amount of groups playing. It was too congested.
Run from Ron
I was told as a kid "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything".
..... ... ...
...ok, so I'll just say this. If you see a course has Ron Garl as the course architect of record... play somewhere else. He seems to be the Johnny Appleseed of golf course design in Florida. Every time I get suckered into playing one of his abominations I am in disbelief of how someone in the design business could actually sustain a career building courses totally devoid of thought, creativity, shot value, and beauty. He does love lakes sticking into landing zones hidden from view, repeating the same green complexes throughout 18 holes, and par 5's with the required tee shot being a blind 50 yard slice to get into the fairway- oh, but again there may be a hidden pond somewhere out there. OK I'm done venting. Out!
Need a little work
Pace of play was horrible. Had some elderly sneak off the back which slowed play for the group that started on the 1st tee.... unbelievable. It would be different if they were hitting it straight and playing quick... 10 to 15 shots to get to the green.... what a frustrating back nine which resulted in us just leaving the course...
should be better
main complaints would be awful bathrooms--worst I've seen. trash not picked up from containers although they at least now have containers (and ball washers). cart paths need plenty of work. did not try new dining facilities which just opened (no alcohol yet) but anticipate good food with new Chinese menu. course in as good a shape as has been for quite a while. greens were pretty fast (been dry).
Some interesting holes. Reasonable maintenance. Good value for money. But on course bathrooms are disgusting.
Regular at north dale service has went downhill
Played this morning there was 16 people on one hole. Took me almost 2 hours to play 4 holes I went to the pro shop and I was told the Jew owners are strict about a rain check policy. You should obviously schedule your tee times and enforce them with a starter. It’s a free for all at this place no pace nothing enforced won’t be back and I have played here once a week for years.
Course was wet that is to be expected. Front nine greens were good. They spiked the back nine greens as we played, disappointing
Great course
Course was in great shape for all the rain we received
Terrible shape
This is usually a fun course and you just have to expect a slower pace of play. But right now the course is terrible. The greens aren’t bad but the rest of the course is awful. We expected it to be a little wet but it was worse. Lots of soft spots that would cause you to plug even if you hit it dead down the middle. The rough was a swamp with probably 6-12 inches tall grass. You wouldn’t see your ball unless you were standing on top of it. I won’t be back until they shut down to rework things and let it heal.
This course needs to invest in a lawn mower
The course was pretty enough but the grass was WAY WAY WAY too long! I guarantee you that it would be easier to find a golf ball in your neighbor’s lawn who only mows once a month! We spent probably 45 minutes looking for our balls in the FAIRWAY!! I don’t know what was going on that they haven’t gotten around to mowing but it was a wreck of a course finding your golf ball. It probably could be a decent course if they would take care of their grass. But it was very frustrating having to constantly be digging through long grass to find a golf ball. I’ve never seen a course in such condition before. It was AWFUL!
