A lot of courses say they're all about nature. Desert Willow Firecliff Resort in Cathedral City actually lives it. Natural desert plants are the star of the show here. So much so that the course was featured on the front cover of Smithsonian magazine.

Bobcats, coyotes and desert rabbits have free run of the place, adding another dimension to any round. When you see a bobcat out in the distance of the desert brush, you're not chasing after that golf ball. No matter how much cash you plunked down for the latest in long-distance technology.

Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry designed Desert Willow and it offers a good example of how you become a rising name in the golf architect game. The sand sculpting demands attention from the first hole.

The course looks intimidating to play. With a 138 slope rating, it plays that way too.

Best of the Desert

Firecliff is arguably the best public track in the Palm Springs area. The course had just opened from winter overseeding and was immaculate. Only minor gripe was some greens were a little on the shaggy side but was told they were going to be cut down in a few days. Overwise, they rolled true. The course is a good test of golfing skills and love that it feels like you're golfing in a desert oasis with little city traffic and buildings to distract you. Would absolutely play here again.

Toller Golfplatz mit dem besten Personal

Der Platz ist wunderbar geschnitten, ist abwechslungsreich und bietet wunderbare Aussichten. Viele Bunker verteidigen die Grüns ohne unfair zu sein. Das größte war jedoch die Freundlichkeit der Mitarbeiter. Bei unserem Missgeschick (Schlüssel im Auto, Auto zu…) organisierten sie Hilfe und blieben bei uns, bis 3h später tatsächlich Hilfe kam. Vielen Dank!

Poor condition and service.

Course was in poor condition. The restaurant closed early and no driving range. Overpriced for what you are offering. We had a 4th that was not with our group. He had medical issue and needed a plastic barrier between seats. For $165 a round he should have been provided his own separate cart, no excuse for not doing that, just very poor customer service. Clearly you don’t care about the golfers needs.

I have played this course 3 times before and had a good experience. Very disappointed in the conditions and customer service, don’t think I would come back.

Firecliff is the one

Both courses here are great but Firecliff is a bit more challenging. Staff is friendly and welcoming and the practice area is top notch. Very good golf course and good value for this area.
