Willowick Golf Course
About
Opened in 1929, Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana is Orange County's oldest public golf course. It is a challenging layout that has garnered a quite a following over the years. The course features wide fairways and large greens that offer ample room. There aren’t any water hazards a few strategically placed sand traps come into play and there are also mature trees lining the fairways. Golfers will get to practice a variety of different shots on this course. It is player-friendly enough for high-handicappers but there are still some challenges for low handicappers. The excellent condition of the greens and fairways are inviting no matter what your skill level. In addition to the golf course, Willowick also offers a grass driving range and three practice putting greens.

All done trying
I have been golfing at this course for many years. It has gotten worse and worse through the years to the point that the course is so bumpy and unmanaged it’s no longer worth trying. Surprisingly the greens are still OK but the journey between each hole is closer to being more like in a war torn area. I’m sorry, but this is no longer the golf course at once was or hope to become. The Wick is pretty much a memory best of luck to the one Staff they have sincerely all done.
The golf course have been improved a lot.
Keeping up a great works gentlemen.
The golf course is getting better every days.
Keeping up a good works.
Terrible
This is joke of a golf course it’s so bumpy and full of gofer holes there’s not a level peace of ground on it except the greens which were pretty good. I can’t believe the golf carts stay together and are not falling apart from the terrain. Also there’s homeless people living on the course and one just was casually walking across the coarse and had to wait for him to tee off. Good job governor Newscombe such a beautiful state and a joke of a governor. You should take this course off your website really but I understand how crazy expensive golf has become it’s hard not to and also the sand traps weren’t raked and half dirt you better get Bill Murray out here for the gofers and they should have filmed the remake of caddy shack here.
Staff very friendly & helpful.
Keeping up the great works.
The Wick
I have played a 5 hour, 5.5 hour, and 3:15 in the last month. Crazy its either empty or packed.
Great staff. Good last minute tee time but conditions off the greens are rough.
Good putting green condition.
Putting greens were best areas of condition on the course. Cart path sections once off the concrete were full of holes. Fairways were average. Still, for the money I would recommend the course.
Not in good shape
The old adage you get what you pay for is so true at Willowwick. The course was patchy throughout, but was fine for my wife, son and his friend. Just be prepared for some crappy lies. The rolled nicely so that was a saving grace. The concession was out of most items on the menu, but they did have outstanding hot dogs. The course hangs their hat on outstanding staff and service. I play a lot a golf and the staff at many of the courses I play could learn a few things about customer service from the folks at Willowwick. I probably wont play their again, but the staff do make it a bit tempting.
