Willowick Golf Course
About
Opened in 1929, Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana is Orange County's oldest public golf course. It is a challenging layout that has garnered a quite a following over the years. The course features wide fairways and large greens that offer ample room. There aren’t any water hazards a few strategically placed sand traps come into play and there are also mature trees lining the fairways. Golfers will get to practice a variety of different shots on this course. It is player-friendly enough for high-handicappers but there are still some challenges for low handicappers. The excellent condition of the greens and fairways are inviting no matter what your skill level. In addition to the golf course, Willowick also offers a grass driving range and three practice putting greens.

Golfer Reviews
Course
The course was not in good condition. The course was very bumpy and difficult to ride. The layout of the course was also not very appealing.
Some of the tea boxes were right next to the greens making it difficult to focus when you’re worried about stray balls flying your way
Mediocre
I’ve only played maybe 10 courses this one takes the cake for the worst. Mainly because of course conditions.. greens aren’t bad but everything else is. Feels like you are off-roading in the golf cart. Holes and dirt mounds everywhere. Not well maintained or worth the time/money.
Below Avg Pace
Conditions-wise, the course could be better, but for the relatively affordable cost there is value there. However, letting a foursome of hacks jump on the back 9 in front of people with a 1pm tee time really lacks professionalism and courtesy. On top of that, even the legitimate order of golfers was too close together. We started at 12:50pm and could only complete 16 holes. If golfing after the time change in fall, you’d better start at noon if you want to get in all 18.
Fun For Practice
Driving Range is like a pasture - not mats, not good grass. Pitching green and putting greens in good shape. Tee boxes OK. Fairways gopher infested. Greens in good shape. Rough uneven with many leaves and branches due to recent winds. Enjoyed the day because it was uncrowded. My wife and I played as a twosome in just over 4 hours.
Willow coming up
The course overall had been getting better in overall maintenance n the greens r much better than previous years.
Slow as snails
Terrible course. Tee time delayed a half an hour. Every hole we have to wait 5-10 min. We quitted after 9
Very good deal, but the rest room is not
The rest room is not clean enough, and sometime there is mo paper. They need to improve this situation. The value is definitely good and people who working there are all nice.
improving
Greens were great. Looks like they have been putting in some work to fix up the course.
