Willowick Golf Course
About
Opened in 1929, Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana is Orange County's oldest public golf course. It is a challenging layout that has garnered a quite a following over the years. The course features wide fairways and large greens that offer ample room. There aren’t any water hazards a few strategically placed sand traps come into play and there are also mature trees lining the fairways. Golfers will get to practice a variety of different shots on this course. It is player-friendly enough for high-handicappers but there are still some challenges for low handicappers. The excellent condition of the greens and fairways are inviting no matter what your skill level. In addition to the golf course, Willowick also offers a grass driving range and three practice putting greens.

Like others have said, this course is in desperate need of TLC. I will say that the greens are nice, and well maintained but the tee boxes and fairways are destroyed. Fun layout, course has a lot of potential. I had my share of fun here, but prefer to play elsewhere
February mush
Really bad fairway conditions. Very good greens and good traps.
Please make this course better
Hurry up and get mats for the range if you aren’t gonna fix the range up. Greens are solid but please clean up the tee boxes. This course could be fun if cleaned up.
What a mess
I play this course a bit. First time out in 2024 and had to stop at 9 holes. The course was in really poor shape. Gopher holes, spotted and sparse fairways, very unkept. Greens were decent but very disappointing.
Very nice and friendly people at pro shop, but fairway is too bumpy
People working at pro shop are very nice and friendly. But all fairways are so bumpy and it is not comfortable at all to ride.
Really sad
I have bee coming here for over 30 years and it’s sad to say that over the years the course has progressively gotten worst. It’s just sad.
Fair Day
This was my second time playing the course, it needs some work. Pace of play was horrendous but the players were all understanding. The course has a pretty descent layout but the fairways need some grass and the bunkers, which I found alot of, need some sand.
Caddy shack 2
Played golf for55 years never seen fairways that bad gophers holes everywhere grass was sparse took over 5 hours to play fivesomes everywhere only positive things was the greens they were great glad it was sunny day in California
Holiday Golf
I haven't played Willowick for many years and I must say that the conditions of the course, especially fairways was terrible. Not sure if it is a lack of money to keep things up or if someone just doesn't take pride in their business. Having golfed out of california, I can safely say that the courses, Willowick, can't hold a candle to the conditions of these courses. I will golf there again, just a shame that the average guy with a limited budget has courses like this one to pick from.
Seems to do the job.
I checked in as a single and was put with 3 very compatible gentlemen who made for a friendly round of golf. Greens were satisfactory but the fairways were "rough" with lots of potholes and very uneven grass which made for a rough cart ride. I didn't lose a ball but many times it took all four of us to find a ball in the middle of the fairway (no exaggeration). The pace of play was ok but the 4 some in front of us somehow became a 5 some and even though may not have slowed us down that much really seemed like it. We did finish a little after 5 with a 12:50 tee-off.
