Westchase Golf Club
About
Designed by Lloyd Clifton, Westchase winds through acres of lakes, conservation areas and forest. It offers manicured greens surrounded by natural wetlands, wooden bridges and bulkheads. With its 9,500 sq. ft. clubhouse, full-service dining room, and fully stocked pro shop, Westchase offers a country club atmosphere along with first-class service. The golf club has established itself as one of Tampa Bay's best upscale golf facilities. The front nine meander through an impressive pine forest. The back nine -- which is demanding on the tee shot -- features lakes, wetlands and cypress. Strategically placed bunkers, more sparkling lakes and stands of cypress, oak, palmetto and pine frame the fairways and greens. Signature Hole No. 3, at 212 yards from the back tee, is all you can handle -- It's a Par 3 all-carry over water from the back tee!

Great course
The course is in great condition, and the greens are rolling. I always enjoy playing here when I have the chance which is not often, but it is nice when I can get there.
One Major Flaw
I really enjoy playing this course, but for one problem. Yardage markers are very inadequate, especially on par 3’s. There are 3 yardages marked on the granite pictures on the tee boxes, for the 4 tees. One hole told me I was 137 yards out and I stood there saying it seemed mor like 110-120. That’s. a 2 club difference. I hit my 9 iron (usually 130 for me) to the back oh the green. Frustrated, pulled out my wedge and hit it stiff (probably 115 yards). The marker was 22 yards off! There are very faded 200, 150 and 100 yard lines marked the cart path...very useless when you’re on the other side of the fairway. There are also markers on the ground for 100, 150 and 200 but you have to go looking for them. The other problem is that there are no markings on the flags indicating front, back or center. I guess it’s assumed that everyone has a laser yardage device now...unfortunately, I don’t. The course is a fun, fairly short, well taken care of track. The staff is super friendly and is also a pretty quick round.
Followed 5 players on back nine
Yes you read the title right. A fifth player joined the foresum we were following on the 11 hole. I was not impressed. The beverage cart staff didn’t call it in even when I mentioned it to her. I told the fellow that followed us to the parking lot to return our cart, and he said they shouldnt do that. I hoped since we were late going out, the pace of play was so slow and I was not happy with the players in front of us, they would offer us something to compensate but nothing.
SLOW Play
desperately need a Ranger out on the course. We are currently sitting on the 12th tee with two groups waiting to tee off ahead of us. How did this happen... apparently two groups of young men were moving SO SLOW that they let the THREE GROUPS of ladies playing BEHIND them - and IN FRONT OF us - through. Now those VERY SLOW guys are in front of us... as we wait and wait and wait. If we play the whole 18... we are looking at an OVER FIVE HOUR ROUND ! We most likely will give up in a hole or two. Terrible... just terrible.
First 4 holes holes are extremely tight with water on one side and a busy road on other . The course layout after that is good , the greens were excellent . The staff were very friendly and informative. Overall really enjoyed the round at Westchase despite a longer than normal round, but it was spring break so the course was busy. Great value for money and some of the best putting surfaces I have played on in Pinellas and Hillsboro in a long time.
The starter had us start on the back nine because off stagnation, that was really appreciated , Paired up with 2 guys on the first hole & then we played ahead. Course was in good shape greens were good & fast , Front nine was a problem If your approach shots become errant better make sure you have brought a lot of balls. good day!!
As always a great course in great condition. We played as a threesome and finished in 4 hrs 10 mins.. greens were fast and smooth fairways nice and lush..
Chicago Guy
Nice track overall. Easy to get to and 15 minutes to TPA. Some cool holes, lots of water. The traps are in great shape with high quality sand. Greens roll true and a bit firm, play short as even wedges rolll a bit. 5 tee boxes. Would love to play again knowing the layout a bit better. A magazine with the hole description was helpful. Staff friendly. Reasonable beer prices. Cart had a flat, proshop had a replacement out in 1/2 a hole. Smallish locker room with shower. Will return.
Nice Loop even when wet.
Played the morning after a rain storm the afternoon before. It was cart path only so it took longer to play a hole when your ball was opposite the cart path. Greens had drained well, putting rolled fast and consistent. Some sand traps and fairways had partial standing water. Some parts of the cart paths you had to drive through several inches of water.
A Pleasure
From the gentleman who met us with the golf cart, the starter and the drink person, and those we saw in the course, everyone was extremely cordial and helpful. We only had two in our group and the starter sent us off before two larger groups so that we wouldn’t have to wait. A challenging course in excellent condition. Totally enjoyed the day.
Nice condition
Very friendly staff - course was on good condition
Nice course in very good condition
My wife and I had the pleasure of playing Westchase for the first time. The course was in very good condition. The Greens were challenging, staff was outstanding!
Great course
I thoroughly enjoyed Westchase. Pete the starter is awesome and the two members I played the back nine with were friendly. I would definitely play again. Not the longest course but great holes with strategic placement make for a challenge.
