Designed by Lloyd Clifton, Westchase winds through acres of lakes, conservation areas and forest. It offers manicured greens surrounded by natural wetlands, wooden bridges and bulkheads. With its 9,500 sq. ft. clubhouse, full-service dining room, and fully stocked pro shop, Westchase offers a country club atmosphere along with first-class service. The golf club has established itself as one of Tampa Bay's best upscale golf facilities. The front nine meander through an impressive pine forest. The back nine -- which is demanding on the tee shot -- features lakes, wetlands and cypress. Strategically placed bunkers, more sparkling lakes and stands of cypress, oak, palmetto and pine frame the fairways and greens. Signature Hole No. 3, at 212 yards from the back tee, is all you can handle -- It's a Par 3 all-carry over water from the back tee!

Solid Track

Above average in all aspects. Nice, varied layout, well kept, though not pristine, challenging, but fair course. Won't kill your wallet. Definitely worth playing.

Over priced

I have played a lot of golf in my time here in Florida; however I have never played a course that has amazing potential and the conditions are beyond poor. Greens, Tee Boxes, and bunkers need a great deal of work.

Not all that......

Picked the course because it was near my house and thought being an afternoon I would not have any issues with finishing before dark. Overall, the layout is nice for it suits my game, some good holes that move right to left and not too long. I played from blue tee boxes and it was somewhat difficult. My issues were that the greens were not that great. Lots of areas that needed some work. Tee boxes were needing some taking care of for there were lots of leaves, un cut grass. Fairways also needed some TLC. It should have been 10 dollars cheaper. May go again since it is close but will not typically play again, too many options.

Great course with integrity

Very nice course with lots of water and strong layout. Added driving range over the water adds to the entertainment. I strongly recommend practicing in the bunker to get used to the sand - very fluffy. I also wanted to mention the integrity of the staff - at the end of the round I couldn't find my watch. I mentioned this at the clubhouse and they took my cell number with the promise to look around. I assumed it was gone. At dinner that night with my group I was called by the club indicating they had the watch and that I could pick it up anytime after 6:30 AM. I was there at 6:20 and the pro who opened led me to my missing timepiece. Thanks gentlemen I will be back.

Not one of the better courses we played

We were over for a week (7 rounds of golf) and this was not one of our favourite courses. It was in reasonable condition but we found some of the greens to be in poor condition. I don't know why the course hasn't been reviewed for many months but there is nothing that appealing about the experience in comparison to other courses we played. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Really nice people on staff, rough areas around tees and greens

First time at Westchase in about a decade because it does not offer tee times on GolfNow.com and their rates always seem to be near the higher end for golf in Hillsborough County. I'm sure they know their pricing points based on their location in the middle of a very populated area, but I found a pretty empty golf course after 2pm on a breezy weekday afternoon. Every employee I encountered was really top notch, whether it was the man working the Pro Shop, the woman working the bar/restaurant or the starter from Green Bay named Doug, Doug was the most interesting guy I've talked to at a golf property in quite awhile and he's obviously more than just your everyday starter. GPS is in the carts, but even with that, this is a tight golf course that must be managed with accurate golf shots. There are more than a few difficult tee shots and forced carries. Honestly, I do not like the overall design of the front nine, but the back nine seemed fair despite stretching beyond 3400 yards from the blue tees. Conditions are inconsistent, as evidenced by a horrific excuse for tee boxes on #3 and plenty of recently laid sod that is already patchy or outright dead around the edges of tees and greens. I'll come back and play again before things get busier later this year, as long as I find another competitive rate...which isn't easy to do at Westchase.

Quality Tampa area layout

Really enjoyed the layout! Greens were in great shape minus a few fringe areas that had recently been replaced and were growing in and were slower than most courses (guessing about an 8 on the stemp). Most of the tee boxes were in good shape except for about 3 of them. Fairways were in great shape but need to be cut to allow for some more roll. Overall a great Florida style layout that I want to play again in prime season to see it at its best. Priced at around $60 is a little overpriced for this layout in the summer based on the conditions I experienced IMHO.

Greens make this just an average course

Fun layout. Plenty of challenging holes. Overall good condition with a few spotty tees. I would play here more but the greens are really what hold me back. Hard and shaggy and even though they just punched them a few weeks ago it hasn't gotten any better. I've only played here once when the greens were cut down to a reasonable speed.
