Since its inception in 1992, it has gained recognition as one of the most economical golf spots in the East Valley, providing an enjoyable and friendly atmosphere for players of varying abilities. The course, crafted by famous golf course designer Brian Whitcomb, features broad, playable fairways along with thoughtfully positioned bunkers and water hazards, creating a design that appeals to novices while keeping seasoned golfers engaged.
This par-72 course extends roughly 6,744 yards from the championship tees and offers picturesque views of the Superstition Mountains. Open throughout the year, the course benefits from Arizona's favorable weather patterns and well-maintained playing surfaces.
In addition to the golf course itself, Western Skies provides a well-rounded golf experience, including a cutting-edge practice facility featuring a driving range enhanced by Inrange technology, putting greens, areas for short-game practice, and learning programs. Golf enthusiasts can also shop at a fully stocked pro shop and dine at Mulligans Grill, the club's restaurant and sports bar, making it a favorite spot to visit both before and after a round.
Positioned conveniently just minutes away from Loop 202 and US-60, and around 20 minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Western Skies appeals to both local players and tourists. The club fosters a friendly environment underscored by its tagline, "Where Locals Bring Their Friends," highlighting its commitment to customer satisfaction, affordability, and community involvement. It also provides membership options, hosts tournaments, organizes leagues, and holds special events throughout the year.

Golfer Reviews
Solid
For the time of the year, this course is a solid deal. Saturday teed off at 9:20 , was a few minutes behind but it moved at a good pace. Greens and tee boxes were jn good shape. I’d play here again not a too challenging course. Got an eagle on #3!
Slow play
Western skies was in great shape on Sunday and the front. Mine went very smooth and the pace of place was phenomenal.. however as we turn nine, we ran into the morning nine whole times and the pace of play was absolutely pathetic. I understand the need to make extra revenue for nine holes while people are playing 18 but you gotta know when to cut it off. It took around that was gonna be 3 1/2 hours to almost 5 hours. What a joke.
Hidden Gem
Played 18 holes and got paired with a random 3-some and had a great time. Staff was nice and helpful. Course was in good condition and had a great time. Will definitely play here again.
Good round
The course was busy with out of town people but we still got around in 4 hours (we usually play a round closer to three and a half hours)
Good value
Greens and fairways are excellent .
Pro shop staff was good and pace of play acceptable
Can’t ask for more than that
Great Western was Great.
I really like this course.
Easy check in and even though there was some construction at the practice range it worked out well for pre round warm up.
Teed off at the almost exactly our tee time.
Fairways and greens were in real good shape.
Literally no waiting for the group ahead and the group behind didn't push us either.
We all had a blast and want to thank Great Western for keeping golf fun.
We’ll maintain wish the price would be lower would love to play the course more often but as a senior it’s a little expensive. Should have a senior discount . That would be great.
