About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2019.
The Club West Golf Club offers 18 holes on a Brian Whitcomb-designed golf course that was originally built in 1993 and measures 7,142 yards from the championship tees on a par-72 golf course.
Club West Golf Club claims the 17th as its signature hole. It features double-greens, tees elevated 100 feet above the course and vistas of South Mountain and of the Estrella Mountain Range; players ought to pick the green they desire and then check the yardage. If the wind isn't blowing you back, pick one less club than usual, aim right and swing smoothly.
After the round, head over to the Club West Golf Club's clubhouse, which is the gorgeous home of the Lakeside Grille, which serves breakfast and lunch inside the stunning dining room or on a spacious patio featuring a fireplace and lake view.

Bad greens
Greens were in bad shape. To many courses in Phoenix are just after the winter money and don't care about summer conditions.
Club West
So I have kept coming back here not only because the "Value" but because it seems Club West seems to "Get it" that golf isn't what it used to be in the sense that we now have 100+ courses to chose from and golf is a Luxury, not a necessity. So for the money, its a GREAT DEAL. The course is a good little test, it is not for a beginning golfer but it's not ridiculously hard either. Course is usually in good to better than good shape and staff is nice and appreciative of the business. there is water on the tee box about every third hole, and the 9-th hole comes right back to the club house if you want a snack or drink(easy access from 9-green to 10-tee). I'd say play it and see for yourself, this is just my opinion, but I have played a lot of the Valleys courses and this one doesn't disappoint for the money.
Fun layout!
The par 3's on the back 9 are awesome! They offer several tee boxes so you can choose how long you want to make the course play.
Club West
Great summer rate, course was in good shape for summer. Greens rolled well. Pace of play was a bit slow, but they did get a marshall out. I always enjoy the two elevated tee boxes off the mountains on the back nine.
Best shape it's been in for years
Course is in best shape it's been in in years, not spectacular but a fun lay out. No ranger so horribly slow play, easily fixable.
Fun, playable course with interesting holes
A lot of courses where you can shoot really low are sort of boring, with little strategic interest in the holes or the greens. Club West is the exception. You can play well there (I have broken par from the tips and from other tees), but the holes are well laid out, fun, and offer plenty of challenge if your game is not on.
The conditions are good, not great. Fairways were uniformly pretty good, and bunkers looked nice. The rough is very wispy, which is pretty normal for this transition time. Greens were ... mostly OK. Didn't look great, but most putted acceptably. There were perhaps 3-4 out there, however, that were in very rough shape. #8 jumps to mind especially, at least in the area where they had the hole when I played.
Still, this is a fun course with some nice views, unique features, and a great value.
Seems like they aren't getting a ton of play, which is a shame for them but nice for players who are out there. I showed for a 9:15 tee time at around 8:45 and was the first person to tee off all day, according to the pro shop. That was a first.
Great Day
Threat of rain all afternoon. Just some very light sprinkles a couple of times. Bunkers did have some water in them from the rain the previous night. Overall though the course was in excellent shape. Played as a doubleton in a little over 3 hours.
not bad at all!
Honestly it's been awhile since I've made the drive to club west and the last time I played it was slow and scrappy. Now that they have a better team working thing have improved,Brian in the pro shop was on point his name could of been Ryan I'm kinda hard of seeing his name tag. With that being said the course was in better the good shape, sand traps are fluffed, water jigs are filled, ice coolers on the carts had fresh ice. Pace of play was awesome. Fairways are coming back to summer shape. Wil play again keep up the good work ....but do watch out for snakes
A First Timer
Club West was an interesting Desert/Mountain layout. Course conditions were typical for Arizona in the summer time, some dry spots, but overall OK. Bunkers had slightly damp sand. Greens had lots of ball marks and were fairly quick. They rolled true and away from South Mountain. Scenic Par 3's on the back side will challenge your club selection. Staff was friendly. Overall, the course was fun, however it's some distance from the north valley.
Great Price, Great Course
I had read some reviews from the last few weeks stating that the course was in bad shape. Honestly i couldnt have been more pleased. Sure its not in "winter conditions" but i had no problem with this course at all. I thoroughly enjoyed this course. Very scenic. Fairways are wide open and just an overall fun course to play. Got paired up with another twosome and they were fun. Will be coming back soon to shoot better than this weekend. Overall not the hardest course, but if you cannot put the ball in the fairway good luck. Houses line the entire course. Greens are fast and true. Only problem we had was there was a bug problem. Didnt really affect us until about hole 17 and 18. Will be going back in the near future.
Great Memorial Day Golf
We enjoyed a great round of Golf! Looking forward to returning in the near future!
The course great
Everything was nice and would play it again anytime.
Nice Course
Went after weekend rains. Course was in great shape except golfers need to learn to repair their divots. Scenic course ready to paly again
Great course
Everything about course was great. Came up on a slow foursome. Played three holes following them and took 1 1/2 hours to play those holes. Did more BSing than playing. That was the only problem.
Nice course
This is a nice course with some cool holes but I was disappointed with the condition of the course overall. I scored well and played well on this day so my disappointment wasn't due to my state of play.
Course Conditions
This course needs work and water -- in poor condition. I think Mgmt is letting course maintenance slide too much. Greens were below average. Played it last year and course was in much better shape,
Save your money
Cheap green fees are fully warranted. The fairways are half dead, although the greens are mostly OK. Spend a little more money and enjoy the golf rather than suffer the dirt.
at the base of South Mountain
it was pretty and challenging we had a good time I like the fact that it goes up the mountain aways
Always reliable
Staff are extremely friendly and the course is great
great back nine
two different nines--- back nine has elevated tees and very scenic very enjoyable to play
