Foothills Golf Club

This course is fun to play, but my round was over 5 hours, some bunker rakes had splintered handles, and the on on course rest room was locked.

Our friends were looking forward to a great day golfing. When we arrived at the course, our check-in was super pleasant. We bought range balls and went to the range. We had arrived 45 minutes early so we could. Once we got down there we were told we had to start playing and there was no negotiating. The starter was so rude. Once on the course, we waited every hole probably because foursomes went out about 4 minutes apart. It was a bad experience for us. The only positive was the gentleman who checked us in. We won’t go back. We were never offered our money back for the range balls-I tried.

Foothills is a Great Course to have fun and test your skills. Also close to The San Tan Brewery a Great place to eat!

Course did not match the photos. Narrow fairways, everything not in the middle was dead and ugly. The range was terrible and you have to pay 7 bucks for a tiny bucket of balls to warm up. What a joke. Needless to say I won’t be back

First time. Decent course. Greens a little long and slow bit rough towards end of day

This was my 2nd round at the Foothills course. Conditions were about the same as a year ago. Bunker sand still in great shape and fairways are fine. Greens need rolling. My foursome encountered several rakes with splintered handles and my cart partner was cut on the hand. There is a lack of toilets on the course and one toilet building was locked. The pace of play the day I played was 5-1/2 hours. Too slow!

Foothills was a course I had never played over the years. A family I was playing with at Whirlwind once told me that Whirlwind was a special treat after playing regularly at Foothills. I knew when I hit the gas pedal on the old Yamaha cart that it was going to be one of those days. The gas fumes overwhelmed me after a few holes. The layout of the course is truly awesome, but it is buried in years of reckless neglect. The tee boxes are humped and in disrepair. The fairways and greens are nice, but if you are a few yards off them, you will likely be on hardpan, bare ground or a rocky mixture. The bunkers have either white sand or brown and are totally inconsistent. The rumor is Troon is taking it over and likely fix it up. When we played there were several open trenches in the field of play. I had one drive just miss going 4 feet down into a grave-like hole. Everything from cart paths, walls, amenities and yardage markers scream dilapidated. By the end, the overall conditions and Yamaha fumes had given me a headache. This course may need to be bulldozed to recover it. For now, play it only if it is your last resort on the bargain golf market.

This course with it’s mountain vistas rewards shots landing in the fairways but can seriously penalize errant ones. Course is in good condition for winter golf. Price to play was very reasonable compared to other comparable courses in the Phoenix area.

There’s not much a person can complain about on this course. Nice fairways, standard brown grass rough and well tailored tricky greens. Welcoming helpful staff.

My only disaffection is not one ball cleaner on any tee box throughout the 18 holes. If that’s the case at least post a sign indicating that before one goes to the number one tee box so I can at least wet a towel. Otherwise there is no way to clean a golf ball.
