TPC Scottsdale - The Stadium Course
About
Designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf, The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale was purpose-built to host the PGA Tour's Phoenix Open, and it has done so since 1987. Designed with high drama in mind, the venue is well known as one of the most exciting and fan-friendly in all of golf, which includes a thrilling finishing stretch that begins with the risk-reward 15th hole. The course plays to over 7,200 yards from the tournament tees, but golfers who play the course during their Arizona golf vacation will find the layout has more forgiving fairways than many other area desert courses. The TPC experience includes one of the most encompassing practice areas in the destination, as well as grand clubhouse that includes the Toro Restaurant and Rum Bar. TPC Scottsdale is also home to the Champions Course, which plays out of a separate facility nearby.

This course is very well layed out challenging very well maintained and a treat to play. Our caddy Andy was very knowledgeable fun and very helpful. Overall the experience was great and well worth the cost.
Course in great condition

Top class challenge
Challenging course as expected from a TPC course. Disappointing that no pre booking information given that it was 'cart path only' right up to tournament. Also, no reflection in the price for this or the wet condition of the course due to tournament preparation
As advertised
Excellent course, great staff. Had a life experience playing this course. Caddie as great as well!
Awesome!!!
Loved it,, only in town so wanted to play decent treks... great layout ... great shape ... and the history involved in the course made it a must do in my opinion!!!
CARNOUTSTIELAD,
So glad you enjoyed the course. There is lots of great golf in Scottsdale, so it's nice to hear we provided the experience you were looking for. There are changes daily on the Stadium course as the grandstands continue to go up on holes 16-18. We are all looking forward to the WMPO in February. Come back and see us again soon.
Thank you,
TPC Scottsdale Management Team
Must Play
I didn't give it an Excellent rating because they had just opened it after September overseeing. Fairways were thick and the was almost no roll. Greens were also super slow. Guess October is not the month to play in it. I am sure this venue with the super layout and its difficulty is a must play course. Have to come back and play it under normal conditions.
PJ5957795,
You came a long way to play TPC Scottsdale. We know you have a lot of options so we thank you for choosing TPC. The Stadium course is a great course, but you happened to come at a time where most of us in Scottsdale are overseeding. Greens are a bit furry and much slower than usual. I hope you have another opportunity to visit from San Juan. November through April is ideal.
Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback.
TPC Scottsdale Management
Fantastic experience
Worth every minute of your time and money.
benshaw,
Thank you for taking the time to give us your comments. Both TPC Scottsdale courses are really fun to play; and you were able to get out right before overseeding, which isn't a practice in Oregon. We hope to see you again soon.
Thank you,
TPC Scottsdale Management
TPC IS THE PLACE TO BE.
played on a Wednesday and the weather was great. Overcast and a slight breeze, which made the first few holes (started on 10) a little more difficult.
the course was in great shape and the greens were fast and true.
pace of play was also great, although i didn't want to rush thru and not totally enjoy this awesome course.
my only complaint would be that i wish they had more time available when the rates are under $100.
i would definitely play a few times.
willieingram
Conditions are good on Stadium right now as we will begin preparations for the WMPO soon. Our rates will be going up the end of this week but there will be some online specials running throughout the next couple months. You can also get word of individual and buddy group specials in our weekly email newsletters. Mark your calendar for Scottsdale Golf Week December 5 - lots of great things happening in the area during that time.
Thank you for taking the time to comment.

Another off my bucket list

I'm glad we could oblige with your bucket list; and that you had an excellent time on the Stadium Course. Hopefully, we'll see you out here again soon - maybe during tournament time.
Thank you,

TPC Scottsdale
Without the grandstands, the drama is absent and the course is somewhat boring. For someone who has never played please do so but don't expect a golf course experience.
Thank you for taking the time to give us your review. It is a much different playing experience when the structures for the WMPO are up. In fact, they will start to go up early October. Most golfers don't even recognize hole 16 when the structures aren't there. Think about visiting again in January when the stands are nearly complete.

Try This Course at Least Once
After attending the Phoenix Open many years, I played this course with a friend to mark it off our bucket list. We both were somewhat disappointed after our afternoon round. The course just seemed like many other nice courses in the area, but just more expensive. Unfortunately, it rained that morning and it was cart path only. That never helps your golf experience, especially when you have very high expectations for the course. The fairways were only in okay shape, but it has been a rough summer. The green were in better shape with many undulations to make it challenging. The course does play long. Everyone working at the course was very helpful and friendly. Would I recommend it to a friend? Only if you have never played it. There is much better value in the metro area.
rkolisar,
Your feedback is valuable to us. We've only had a couple rainstorms this summer and it sounds like you happened to play after one. The Stadium Course is definitely a 'bucket list' for so many golfers. It's really fun to play when the structures are up for the WMPO. Hopefully, you'll have a chance to play again when we have peak conditions.
Thank you,
TPC Scottsdale Management
Ok Experience
Staff at the bag drop seemed disinterested. Golf shop and cart girl saved the day. Neat to play the holes you see on tv. Water on about every 6 holes. Could've used some more of those considering it was 108 degrees. Course conditions were very good tee to green. I guess I just expected more for the rate that they charge.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback regarding staff and conditions. Temperatures have been a little warm (and humid.) We are currently working on improving the availability of water on the course by building permanent water stations. I apologize we were not able to meet your expectations at the bag drop area. Customer service is very important to us and we will continue to push for excellence in all areas of operations. I hope you have an opportunity to come back and play again.
Best,
TPC Management
Great layout poor conditions
I know it's summer time but the tournament tee boxes weren't cut; the greens were slow and bumpy; and the staff was over watering in spots causing significant damages. However, I was impressed with the conditions of the bunkers and the fairways and cuts around the greens. The starters were very cordial, as were the outside staff operating the bag drop. The Marshall's weren't helpful but not said anything if you were a 1/2 a hole behind. Truly wish the greens were in better shape and the approach areas weren't sloppy wet.
First Time Desert Golf
Wanted to see what playing desert golf was like during the summer. Played from the blue tees and played decent. Average golfers dream with wide fairways on most holes.Greens were very receptive. I would love to play here again and give the tips a try.
good but not great
Its a bucket course only for the Phoenix open and 16,17 and 18. The reality is that its not really a special course, nor a very beautiful or difficult one. Its famous and so they charge ridiculous fees to the many folks who want to tick this one off their list.
This is a great course to walk. Dont ride. Its flat and easier to walk than ride. You'll be stuck on the cart path on more holes than not and the restrictions that they have on the carts will drive you mad as the carts will just stop and beep at you with no control or direction.
The greens while true, were not in very good condition especially compared to the other top courses in the area. Many dead spots, many pocks and pits and a ton of old holes in your line. While the most expensive course in the valley, Its not nearly as well conditioned as the others and rates a 6/10 on conditioning. You are paying for the privilege to play 16 17 and 18.
Almost every bunker was filled with divots, foot tracks and worse. For a $200 course, they dont care for it very well.
The range was in terrible shape. We played at noon and the one yard wide hitting zone had NO smooth grass. It was all divots and sand. I had to ask for balls... Ridiculous for a course of this caliber and price.
I'd recommend playing it but its not nearly as good as a half a dozen options nearby.
A proper Scottsdale splurge
I've been to Scottsdale a bunch of times for golf, and have attended the Phoenix Open a few times, but finally got around to playing the Stadium course at TPC Scottsdale on a bachelor party.
We played the course in late April towards the end of peak season and conditions were still outstanding. What stuck out to me about the Stadium was just how much grass is out there compared to the many surrounding desert courses. Simply put: this may be a PGA Tour-worthy design, but hackers like us are actually going to have a fighting chance out here thanks to Weiskopf's design (more forgiving than the many Dye TPC designs).
The front side is good but the back nine is a real joy, with more water and decisions to make. The closing stretch is about as good as it gets, complete with a reachable par 5 and a drivable par 4.
Then there's the famous par-3 16th: What stuck out to me, playing the hole with all the bleachers taken down, was that it's actually one of the more naturally pleasant holes on the course, with some wonderful desert vegetation between the tee and green, framed nicely with the mountains in the back. It was, dare I say, quite peaceful.
Show up early to your tee time and have breakfast, which we did, and hit some balls and make use of the practice facility. The lies are tight in the fairway, so make sure your wedges are ready for it.
While I think I prefer Troon North's overall layout for desert destination golf (another Weiskopf special), you really can't go wrong at TPC thanks to the excellent facilities, staff, and exciting back nine all in the heart of Scottsdale.
Another off the bucket list
What a great golf course. The fairways and greens were immaculate. It was a treat to play. there is a premium to driving the ball well. Holes 15 to 18 are probably some off the best finishing hole I have played. what a treat!
Father and son...time of our lives!
My son and I played Feb 17. Record setting 90 degrees in Scottsdale for a record and gorgeous day. Only ten days after waste management open and the stadium at 16 still up!! What a rush.
Forecaddie was friendly and helpful. We r public course players so it was nice to b pampered.
Not cheap but a junior rate for my son...well with every penny
Must do Bucket list course
This was an amazing golf experience. Worth every penny. Course was in perfect condition. From the minute you arrive to check in and off to the range, everything first class. Greeted positively all throughout.
The range, chipping and putting green are incredible. Not hitting out of others divots to warm up.
It was my first time having a forecaddie and our guy, Rick, was the best. Treated us with a level of service that I am not accustomed to. I wish more courses would offer this option, because having him give advice, find you golf ball, and look after you was worth it.
The course does not take it easy on the guests either. I noticed the pin placements were the same you see on Sunday at the Phoenix open.
This is the closest I will likely ever come to feeling what it is like on the PGA Tour. Loved every minute of it, even though I got booed on 16.
Great experience
Course was in great shape near perfect greens where a little slow caddy was fun to work with and had some good stories about the course and tournament.

Eia,
Thank you for your comments and for choosing to play TPC Scottsdale on your visit to Arizona. I'm not sure what date you played, but I"m sorry to hear you were not well notified of our CPO requirement at this time of year. The Stadium is cart path only from overseeding to the TOUR event in early February. Conditions are excellent right now and golfers will begin to notice faster greens and higher roughs as we get closer to tournament time. I hope you have an opportunity to come back and play TPC Scottsdale again - maybe try the Champions course next time.
Thank you,
TPC Scottsdale Management Team
