TPC Scottsdale - The Stadium Course
About
Designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf, The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale was purpose-built to host the PGA Tour's Phoenix Open, and it has done so since 1987. Designed with high drama in mind, the venue is well known as one of the most exciting and fan-friendly in all of golf, which includes a thrilling finishing stretch that begins with the risk-reward 15th hole. The course plays to over 7,200 yards from the tournament tees, but golfers who play the course during their Arizona golf vacation will find the layout has more forgiving fairways than many other area desert courses. The TPC experience includes one of the most encompassing practice areas in the destination, as well as grand clubhouse that includes the Toro Restaurant and Rum Bar. TPC Scottsdale is also home to the Champions Course, which plays out of a separate facility nearby.

A great course to play
Except for the pace of play the round was most enjoyable. The marshall was on top of the problem and kept us informed as to the situation. The entire staff was courteous and helpful and we could not have asked for more. It was a great course to play and we hope to play it again.
TPC Review
Poor value. Play both courses at Wildfire for the same money. Breakfast was very good for the price. Practice facility very nice. Very slow pace of play, on course assistant just made excuses for the slow group.
Skeleton crew means no course assistant (terrible pace)
Course was in pretty good shape, but let's cut to the chase - this is not one of the best courses in Scottsdale. It has the cache of hosting the rowdiest event on the PGA Tour and as such, is able to command fees WAY in excess of the fun to be had (truth be told, the sibling Champions Course is a far more fun day out, with fewer vanilla holes).
I like (liked) to check the place out once every year or so and was especially interested to see some of the recent changes. Course is pretty much as it was - the most clear change (for me) was the big move of the 4th green.
Still the same old fairly flat track, with a few nice holes on the back 9.
Unfortunately, this time out was a big let down as far as pace of play went. We had some hackers playing the tips in front of us, which in of itself doesn't always mean a bad day out. However, this 4some would all drive out to 1 drive - 200 yards out - then all drive out to the next - 220 yards out - then drive back to player 3's ball - at 180 out - before they all migrated to the last players ball. Rinse and repeat. No player assistant and when I called the pro-shop, got a terse "the assistant pro is out there, talk to him". Woeful attitude - I assume because we "only" paid $80 a head to play this banal track.
At $80 a pop, this course would be worth a 1-time run. At $80 a pop and this pace of play and attitude from the staff, skip it. For less $, you'll get a better course and significantly better service at Grayhawk, Wildfire, Troon North, Kierland (and air-conditioned carts!).
Waste management
Great track. Not a bucket lister but fine desert golf in great shape!
Top course
This is a top notch golf course. Challenging but doesn't over do it. Loved playing here. The staff both at the golf course and restaurant were awesome. Got paired up with another twosome and had a great round
Best Conditions I Have Played
I have been to Scotland and a bit around the country and none rival the shape the course was in. Not saying its as good of a course as the top end ones in teh USA and world, but the conditions were mint.
The greens were smooth, green and had a perfect roll (played late May). The sand was a perfect white with the right about of crispness for clean bunker shots, whether in the fairway or green side. The tee boxes and fairways were meticulous.
I was a huge fan. I liked the mix of easy and hard. We played the 1 up tees and I thought it was fair. I actually played the front better. The back I thought was easier with 2 par 5's and some short holes that i felt were open (outside of 11, which was really tough), but I just didnt score.
Either way, I highly recommend if making a trip.
Course was in great shape
I played with my son who played the back tees. The course was in great shape. The front nine was a little more open than the back nine. On the back nine you had to hit the ball good to have nice angles to the greens. The greens were very fast but rolled very good. Tee boxes and fairways were great. Would recommend this course to be played by anybody.
Great course, great weather
Well maintained facility. Course changes made it more challenging. Greens were fast and true.
The best golf experience of my life.
If you love golf then this is an absolute must experience. I played in early May and the course conditions were perfect. The range was nothing special but the putting green is an experience all on its own. Your ball glides along a smooth layer of grass without a bump. The fairways and greens were in excellent condition. The rough was cut short and was easy to get of.
I played from the back tees. The front nine is tough. Long holes with greens that are tough to hit and hold. The back nine is the really fun part of the course. Holes 15,16 and 17 are incredible. I shot 37 on the back and then 45 on the front.
Tips:
If your squeamish about the price I recommend booking the twilight. They start off the back nine so you won't miss out on the famous holes. I was lucky enough to finish but your not missing much if you miss the last few holes. You end up saving about $90.
A Little Pricey
Course was in great shape but it isn't particularly scenic. Greens are generally huge. Great sand in the bunkers, even if it was still damp. I enjoyed the Boulders more and paid about half the price. At almost $250, you need to be a die hard golfer to think that there aren't better places to play for the money.
A good Scottsdale golf experience
Got to play some of the top private courses in Scottsdale last week and the Stadium at TPC held its own. Design changes are positive. Including a forecaddie adds to the cost but improves the experience.
An Obviously Beautiful Course
If you happen to find yourself in the Phoenix area and are willing to spend some money, this is a great course for you to play. The course is in excellent condition, but is suffering some minor turf blemishes still from the PGA tournament a couple months ago. The regular rate is near the $250 mark, but I don't think the course is worth that much to play. I found a great deal to play for $99 and I thought somewhere between that and $125 is a reasonable price to have this TPC experience. By far the best part about this course are the condition of the greens. They are noticeable fast and roll incredibly true. Overall, if you can find a good deal, this will be a solid golfing experience.
Feel like a pro
Great course the greens were a bit too firm and didn't hold shots in. A must play
Stadim Course - tons of fun, great condition
Great Challenge w/ a lot of slopes and specific targets on greens. Risk rewards keep it interesting all the way around.
TPC Experience
What a great experience to finally hit a TPC course and what not better than the famous TPC Scottsdale. "tiger woods famous 16th hole in one"! We're from Minnesota and we love traveling to AZ every year to golf. Golf the stadium! High priced, but worth the story and unbelievable golf.
What a place
What a awesome place to play .the starter was very personable and energetic . The course in unbelievable everything nice and green. And the price I got from golf now what a bargin
Tough sledding
This is a tough track, even from the whites. The required forecaddy is a godsend, saving shots and balls. You must drive it well to score but even then, that's no guarantee of a good number. Lots of traps and terrain changes make this one of the hardest courses in the valley. Very pricey but highly recommended for better players. Higher handicaps will struggle.
Check it off the wish list.
Golf now is the best. I was visiting Arizona for the first time. I really wanted to play TPC Scottsdale but the 300 dollar price tag was not in my golf budget. I have played at Torrey, Pinehurst #2, and many other fine courses. Never payed more than 200. I just can not justify paying 4.00 every time I hit the ball. You do the math. I checked golf now and got a rate of 99 for a noon tee time. WOW. It was 80 degrees with a light breeze. Perfect. The course is everything you think it is. The rough is a penalty, the greens are true and fast, the sand is soft , and the fairways are fantastic. I did not get booed at the 16th. Birdie on that hole, a little less pressure with no beer containers being thrown your way. 16th is the easiest hole on the course. Any ball not sticking on the green is a tough fight back onto the putting surface. Lots of rough and tough lies surrounding the greens. Overall great course, thanks to golf now I got to check one more course off my wish list.
Awesome
It was an honor to play on a PGA, TPC course. The only way I could have played the course was thru Golf Now @ a discounted rate. Just knowing I was putting on the same greens as the professionals just a month or so ago was an awesome adventure.

Magnificent Experience
Played the Stadium course and enjoyed it very much. Many of the gallery structures erected for the WM Phoenix Open were still in place, even the structure around the famous 16th hole. It was totally cool to play the course. Course conditions were excellent. Bunkers filled with sugar white sand. Whole course was beautifully manicured.
Several holes were cart path only, so it involved some walking. The sand bottles on my cart were empty.
The starter, Ken, got us started earlier than our booked tee time which was great because we were able to get all 18 holes played before it got too dark.
This is a course that's worthy of being a golf cathedral.
