Designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf, The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale was purpose-built to host the PGA Tour's Phoenix Open, and it has done so since 1987. Designed with high drama in mind, the venue is well known as one of the most exciting and fan-friendly in all of golf, which includes a thrilling finishing stretch that begins with the risk-reward 15th hole. The course plays to over 7,200 yards from the tournament tees, but golfers who play the course during their Arizona golf vacation will find the layout has more forgiving fairways than many other area desert courses. The TPC experience includes one of the most encompassing practice areas in the destination, as well as grand clubhouse that includes the Toro Restaurant and Rum Bar. TPC Scottsdale is also home to the Champions Course, which plays out of a separate facility nearby.

Very friendly staff. Excellent playing conditions, but pre tournament rough and firm greens. Play from appropriate tees.

Plan to arrive early to take advantage of the excellent practice facilities. Starter took lots of time to explain course and restrictions (cart path only for the lead up to WM Tournament).
Some construction underway for spectator stands, but this did not interfere with play.
There are many blind shots where you need local knowledge or very close study of the playing guide. Firm greens called for careful approach shots. Greenside bunkers and water hazards penalize any errant approaches.
Greens were fast, but manageable speed.
Scenery is spectacular and pace of play was good (under 4 1/2 hours).
With Golfnow discount, it was excellent value.

playable venue

solid course with a few hidden obstacles. Greens were horribly slow stimping around 9 in preparation for pga event as well as carty path only. may want to check agronomic practicies before booking.

Overall enjoyable design with softish finish. Nothing outstanding design wise but a good playable track for mere mortals.

Great course for all skill levels

Course was in great condition, with easily marked distances, and fabulous mountain and desert vistas on every hole. Greens were fast, and lots of places to lose your ball with an errant shot. Staff was friendly, and they keep the pace of play to 4 hours.

Great Layout

TPC Champions provides a fun and pretty challenging day of golf especially in the wind.

Similar to Longbow you get somewhat of an air show with the different airplanes flying into Scottsdale Airpark. Pretty cool if you are into that sort of thing.

Some very neat holes at the Champions Course where risk/reward will make you think.

Golf staff was very friendly as well.

TPC Experience

We played in May and the course was in great condition. The greens were great. The bunkers were disappointing, and showed a lack of maintenance. Definitely a must play in AZ and ranks high as one of my favorites either or private or public.

This course is a dream come true

I had the best golf experience I had was here at the TPC stadium. The views were spectacular including the rabbits and cacti. The 3 other people I played with made it wonderful. I would definitely come back and play again. The weather was great and I even holed out from the bunker.

The course was in excellent shape.

The starter arranged for us to start on the back nine since the front nine was running 30 minutes behind schedule. This allowed us to complete our round before dark.

Great course if the grand stands are up for the FBR

I got on for a decent price but its only worth the money if the grand stands are set up. Its a cool experience especially when you reach 16 but if there are no stands its just an over price nice golf course.

Easier then I expected!

Conditions are awesome. Stands were up for the upcoming Phoenix Open so we got to feel the stadium athmosphere at the 16th. Pretty spectacular. Fairways are wide and greens are huge. Get there early and use their practice facilities to the fullest: that's the closest you'll ever feel like being on the PGA Tour. Finally, check out the locker room. Each pro has its locker assigned with name plates and mention of previous tournament wins. I wish I coud play it again.

Fun Experience, Decent Course

The good stuff:
-Each foursome gets a caddie! Ours was Tim and he was awesome. He reads your putts, rakes the traps, fills every divot he sees, fixes all ball marks, tends the flag, watches your drives, and much more. He quickly figured out what style of golfers we all were and he helped us have fun. He helped the wives out a lot: he knew they weren't serious golfers so he would run after any of their shots in the desert and bring them back to the fairway.
-Course condition was amazing (because they have caddies). All of the fairways and greens were in perfect shape.
-The pace was good (once again, because of the caddies). This was surprising since we were a foursome and our wives shot 100+.
The bad stuff:
-The greens are much slower than most courses in the area (they only cut short for the PGA).
-There was quite a bit of construction in December as they get ready for the tourney. #16 was already completely surrounded by grand stands.

Great experience!

I happened to find a $99 rate which is great value for this course, normally $299. It is everything I expected, lots of challenge, desert in play, the stadium stands set up everywhere, great views of the surrounding mountains. The only thing lacking was service. It had rained the night before so it was cart paths only and the drink girl only came by once the whole round. There was no halfway house open either. Aside from that, the golf and golf course were excellent.

Great course and great service

Stadium course is always a treat to play. The conditions of the course are always great, especially getting close to the Waste Management Tournament. Championship tees are not available so the tees are moved forward a bit. The yardage book as the forecaddie are extremely useful. Cart path only until after the tournament might be a good chance to walk the course.

One of the best conditioned courses for the money that you can play

At the rates we paid through GolfNow.com, this was was one of the best deals for all around quality that we have played in the area. The course is challenging, it is a great layout and the course conditioning was exceptional. We have played this course previously and it nevers lets us down. At times, pace of play has been a moderate problem, but this time our foursome played in less than four hours.
