TPC Scottsdale - The Stadium Course
About
Designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf, The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale was purpose-built to host the PGA Tour's Phoenix Open, and it has done so since 1987. Designed with high drama in mind, the venue is well known as one of the most exciting and fan-friendly in all of golf, which includes a thrilling finishing stretch that begins with the risk-reward 15th hole. The course plays to over 7,200 yards from the tournament tees, but golfers who play the course during their Arizona golf vacation will find the layout has more forgiving fairways than many other area desert courses. The TPC experience includes one of the most encompassing practice areas in the destination, as well as grand clubhouse that includes the Toro Restaurant and Rum Bar. TPC Scottsdale is also home to the Champions Course, which plays out of a separate facility nearby.

Great Layout
TPC Champions provides a fun and pretty challenging day of golf especially in the wind.
Similar to Longbow you get somewhat of an air show with the different airplanes flying into Scottsdale Airpark. Pretty cool if you are into that sort of thing.
Some very neat holes at the Champions Course where risk/reward will make you think.
Golf staff was very friendly as well.
TPC Experience
We played in May and the course was in great condition. The greens were great. The bunkers were disappointing, and showed a lack of maintenance. Definitely a must play in AZ and ranks high as one of my favorites either or private or public.
This course is a dream come true
I had the best golf experience I had was here at the TPC stadium. The views were spectacular including the rabbits and cacti. The 3 other people I played with made it wonderful. I would definitely come back and play again. The weather was great and I even holed out from the bunker.
The course was in excellent shape.
The starter arranged for us to start on the back nine since the front nine was running 30 minutes behind schedule. This allowed us to complete our round before dark.
Great course
Played one month before Phoenix open so the stands for the fans where put up it was awesome .
Great course if the grand stands are up for the FBR
I got on for a decent price but its only worth the money if the grand stands are set up. Its a cool experience especially when you reach 16 but if there are no stands its just an over price nice golf course.
awesome
I was in awe the hole way but what i found the most amzing was how we had our putts ead for us...awesome
Easier then I expected!
Conditions are awesome. Stands were up for the upcoming Phoenix Open so we got to feel the stadium athmosphere at the 16th. Pretty spectacular. Fairways are wide and greens are huge. Get there early and use their practice facilities to the fullest: that's the closest you'll ever feel like being on the PGA Tour. Finally, check out the locker room. Each pro has its locker assigned with name plates and mention of previous tournament wins. I wish I coud play it again.
Fun Experience, Decent Course
The good stuff:
-Each foursome gets a caddie! Ours was Tim and he was awesome. He reads your putts, rakes the traps, fills every divot he sees, fixes all ball marks, tends the flag, watches your drives, and much more. He quickly figured out what style of golfers we all were and he helped us have fun. He helped the wives out a lot: he knew they weren't serious golfers so he would run after any of their shots in the desert and bring them back to the fairway.
-Course condition was amazing (because they have caddies). All of the fairways and greens were in perfect shape.
-The pace was good (once again, because of the caddies). This was surprising since we were a foursome and our wives shot 100+.
The bad stuff:
-The greens are much slower than most courses in the area (they only cut short for the PGA).
-There was quite a bit of construction in December as they get ready for the tourney. #16 was already completely surrounded by grand stands.
Great experience!
I happened to find a $99 rate which is great value for this course, normally $299. It is everything I expected, lots of challenge, desert in play, the stadium stands set up everywhere, great views of the surrounding mountains. The only thing lacking was service. It had rained the night before so it was cart paths only and the drink girl only came by once the whole round. There was no halfway house open either. Aside from that, the golf and golf course were excellent.
Great course and great service
Stadium course is always a treat to play. The conditions of the course are always great, especially getting close to the Waste Management Tournament. Championship tees are not available so the tees are moved forward a bit. The yardage book as the forecaddie are extremely useful. Cart path only until after the tournament might be a good chance to walk the course.
One of the best conditioned courses for the money that you can play
At the rates we paid through GolfNow.com, this was was one of the best deals for all around quality that we have played in the area. The course is challenging, it is a great layout and the course conditioning was exceptional. We have played this course previously and it nevers lets us down. At times, pace of play has been a moderate problem, but this time our foursome played in less than four hours.
Lush fairways. Easy to find lost balls, except in Water hazard.
The course was a little noisy, work crews setting up bleachers for the up coming PGA turny. Course was very lush, bunker sand very hard to play out of. Sand was very hard packed, could have been from previous days rain.
Fun to play a course the Pros play
There are better courses for the money in Scottsdale than TPC Stadium Course, but still fun to play a course the Pros play.
Fantasic Golf
This was a great track to play if you love golf and follow the PGA events. The course was being set up for the PGA event to be played Superbowl weekend.
Again great course to experience!!
Well Maintained!
This course was in absolutely great shape and solid pace of play. Will continue to play this course and recommend to others!
Course layout enjoyable to play...nice scenery design.
Have played this course several times Mon-Thurs with virtually no waiting. On a couple outings there was no one seen the entire 18 which makes for fast and enjoyable play. This is all surprising given the caliber of course it is. The group we play with will score 3-5 strokes better on this course than the general average score.
Too Soon After Overseeding
The conditions were wet with thin overseeded grass. This prevented normal play somewhat. Overall, this is not a bad experience, but seems overpriced compared to other options.
Better Track than Stadium Course
When you consider playibility, this course is actually a better course to play than TPC Stadium course next door where they hold the Waste Management open. For the money you get greens that are just a half notch below the stadium course, fairways and tee boxes that are just as good, a layout that is far more challenging than what id offered on the stadium side, a much better hole layout overall, better bunkers that are deeper, and green shapes and undulations that require more skill to play into and putt on.
This course is in the best shape I have seen it in in almost 3 years. They have expanded the practice green so foot traffic wont affect it, and the practice tee is very enjoyable to spend time on.
For the money, playing here during peak season will not disappoint.
Great and memorable experience to play at very recognizable PGA tour stop and at a great price as a Hot Deal via Golfnow.com!
Course was in great shape with the winter over-seeding having come in very well. The pace of play was good even though they required us to keep the carts on the path following the over-seeding. This was primarily due to the fore-caddie who did an excellent job helping us find our tee-shots and giving us yardages very quickly. The rough was deep and lush as they are already growing it out long to cut it back for the Waste Management tournament. Only criticism was the greens were a bit long and furry with more ball marks than expected. Overall great experience, they already had most of the grandstands up on 16; what a thrill to walk through the tunnel just like the big boys!
