TPC Scottsdale - The Stadium Course
About
Designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf, The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale was purpose-built to host the PGA Tour's Phoenix Open, and it has done so since 1987. Designed with high drama in mind, the venue is well known as one of the most exciting and fan-friendly in all of golf, which includes a thrilling finishing stretch that begins with the risk-reward 15th hole. The course plays to over 7,200 yards from the tournament tees, but golfers who play the course during their Arizona golf vacation will find the layout has more forgiving fairways than many other area desert courses. The TPC experience includes one of the most encompassing practice areas in the destination, as well as grand clubhouse that includes the Toro Restaurant and Rum Bar. TPC Scottsdale is also home to the Champions Course, which plays out of a separate facility nearby.

Lush fairways. Easy to find lost balls, except in Water hazard.
The course was a little noisy, work crews setting up bleachers for the up coming PGA turny. Course was very lush, bunker sand very hard to play out of. Sand was very hard packed, could have been from previous days rain.
Fun to play a course the Pros play
There are better courses for the money in Scottsdale than TPC Stadium Course, but still fun to play a course the Pros play.
Fantasic Golf
This was a great track to play if you love golf and follow the PGA events. The course was being set up for the PGA event to be played Superbowl weekend.
Again great course to experience!!
Well Maintained!
This course was in absolutely great shape and solid pace of play. Will continue to play this course and recommend to others!
Course layout enjoyable to play...nice scenery design.
Have played this course several times Mon-Thurs with virtually no waiting. On a couple outings there was no one seen the entire 18 which makes for fast and enjoyable play. This is all surprising given the caliber of course it is. The group we play with will score 3-5 strokes better on this course than the general average score.
Too Soon After Overseeding
The conditions were wet with thin overseeded grass. This prevented normal play somewhat. Overall, this is not a bad experience, but seems overpriced compared to other options.
Better Track than Stadium Course
When you consider playibility, this course is actually a better course to play than TPC Stadium course next door where they hold the Waste Management open. For the money you get greens that are just a half notch below the stadium course, fairways and tee boxes that are just as good, a layout that is far more challenging than what id offered on the stadium side, a much better hole layout overall, better bunkers that are deeper, and green shapes and undulations that require more skill to play into and putt on.
This course is in the best shape I have seen it in in almost 3 years. They have expanded the practice green so foot traffic wont affect it, and the practice tee is very enjoyable to spend time on.
For the money, playing here during peak season will not disappoint.
Great and memorable experience to play at very recognizable PGA tour stop and at a great price as a Hot Deal via Golfnow.com!
Course was in great shape with the winter over-seeding having come in very well. The pace of play was good even though they required us to keep the carts on the path following the over-seeding. This was primarily due to the fore-caddie who did an excellent job helping us find our tee-shots and giving us yardages very quickly. The rough was deep and lush as they are already growing it out long to cut it back for the Waste Management tournament. Only criticism was the greens were a bit long and furry with more ball marks than expected. Overall great experience, they already had most of the grandstands up on 16; what a thrill to walk through the tunnel just like the big boys!
Course has gotten better as it matures
Played course right after it was redone & was unimpressed. It is much better now. Will never be a top qualiy course as long as CHARGES FOR RANGE BALLS in addition to your green fees!
having just been overseeded, greens were superslow, not worth the money to play
nice course, a little boring, if the greens aren't ready, they shouldn't charge full price.
Since it's renovation a couple of years ago, the course plays longer and the greens have much more slope and speed to them
Our day was a tough one as we got out at a little after 08:00 AM and the overseed / irrigation was "overly soaked" and of course it was cart path only...because I have played this course numerous times...we did get the round in...in just over 4 hours
Slow Pace of Play
Worth playing once as a famous PGA Tour course, but there are many more beautiful courses in Scottsdale. We waited on every shot and played the 18th in the dark.
This is the TPC Scottsdale - Stadium Course
Anyone who watches the PGA Tour knows TPC Scottsdale - Stadium. It's the real deal, and if you're up to it you're welcome to play the tips. They had just overseeded (cart paths only), and they were erecting the bleechers on #16 - but it's always a Great course; Great Staff; and an Excellent time. Try and play it at least once a year and see if you can improve.
Beautifully maintained and manicured - great view
The course was in pristine condition, Greens were true and the views are beautiful
There are so many better courses for the $ in Scottsdale
Staff is friendly but starting times were 20-30 minutes late and pace of play was painful...even for a Sunday afternoon. Course is generally in nice condition but it is very wide-open and just not that interesting. So many better courses in Scottsdale...especially for the $.
ok course not if value for the cost
TPC more expensive then Boulders or Quintero, no where close to condition or layout of those courses.TPC not enough value for cost.
good features
It would be good to see a little more marshalling.
Next time during overseeding we will call to see if it is
cart path only. If you have two people in a cart there is too
much going back and forth to the cart to get clubs, measuring
and such.
Price point should br reduced a little more at this time.
I play golf alot in Washington, AZ and Palm Desert. It would be
nice to see "cartpath only" on the golfnow website that I booked
this reservation.
Not the Stadium course but ok
Played on 10/12/12 got a rate of $89 on Golf Now and was well worth that, I do not think I would pay the standard rate of $139 to play it again, there are several other couses in the area I would play for that rate or a little more
Good course design, good pace of play, friendly staff
Early morning tee time had very good pace of play, course was in very good shape, nice pace on the greens. With the green fee paid, range balls should be included.
A classic course and a must play for your bucket list!
Early morning tee time resulted in quite a bit of dew. Some groundskeepers seemed aloof to the golf going on around them, and did not clear for shots for prolonged times. Course was in wonderful shape, with well maintained greens. The excitement of being on a course which was well known from television exposure was enjoyable.
