Mission Inn Resort & Club - El Campeon Course
About
The highly popular El Campeon Course at Mission Inn Resort consistently ranks in the top 10 of Florida's many golf courses. The course originally opened in 1917 and decades later in 1992, it was joined by a second 18-hole course, Las Colinas. El Campeon is not only one of the state's oldest golf courses but also one of its most challenging. The traditional design remains largely unchanged except for a renovation in 1926. The course winds through towering forests and numerous spring-fed lakes. The layout features water on thirteen holes as well as dramatic elevation changes that measure over 85 feet across the rolling fairways and undulating greens. The signature hole of the golf course is the par-5 17th. This lengthy double dogleg possesses more hazards than some entire courses do.

One of the best courses in Central Florida
My son and went the weekend Tropical Storm Cristabol was in the Gulf of Mexico Dumping Rain on all of Florida. Although the ground was wet it was still very solid. Very little standing water. The greens were still fast and you still got a good roll on your drive. We played the El Campeon course and although it was challanging it was a lot of fun. We will defenitly be going back.
Mission Inn hidden gem
Loved the layout and can't wait to come back and play this course again. Pace of play was excellent and the conditions were top notch. The staff was extremely friendly and provided us with weath of knowledge about the course and surrounding area. After golf we ventured around the resort and it is truly a hidden gem in central Florida well worth putting on your list of places to stay and play.
Course was amazing! Except.....
Make sure to bring a lot of golf balls, many obstacles for you to take in several different ways or play if you have the time to try out new techniques. Gorgeous views especially with the weather just right. It got a bit hotter when we checked in at 1 and checking in was perfect. Golf attendants with the carts got us in early and carts for each efficiently. (Group of 3) were told by them that there were two different drink carts out that day so we will be able to easily find some cold drinks and what we need on the course. We saw plenty of players enjoying their times and ourselves included but no where to be found was a cart girl or anyone to buy from. Eventually passing onto the back nine on HOLE 11 we finally found her. We had a bit of cash and she said she would come back with more and wasn’t able to take our card. We waited and took our time so we could enjoy our drinks and wait for her but by the time we were putting on the 18th hole, she came up and asked if we were good and needed anything but by that time we were heat exhausted and ready to leave. Other than that, we had a great time and would love to play again. Possibly just being our own waters this time just because of the carts taking a bit.
A MUST play
Haven’t played at Missiin inn for years. Made the drive from Orlando yesterday and I must say, it was worth every bit of the $$!! Pristine shape, greens were tough but rolled perfectly! I will be back as soon as I can! Truely one of the greats in Florida!!!
Awesome
We treated ourselves and had an absolutely wonderful day the course is spectacular and the staff is awesome
Outstanding
Outstanding course , great layout, very challenging, get the proper club, fantastic staff. Wonderful day of golf with great views, will return soon.
Outstanding
Great elevation, course in excellent condition, wonderful location and views, staff courteous and helpful. Had a great day for a 70 year old and white tees a 79 was excellent, will definitely return again soon thanks
Great condition as usual. Rained out after 9 but still a very good and challenging course.
Great course
Great layout challenging but in excellent shape, bring your camera pretty course!!!!
Course in great shape. Rained but still a tough track. Greens rolled good. A little on the slow side being wet. Overall great fun.
Great - except the check-in
I have played the courses at Mission Inn many times and have always found them to be in excellent condition. I had not played since before the pandemic began and was surprised - to say the least - that the cashier did NOT have on a MASK. Please show more courtesy to your guests.
Both course in great shape
I have been playing in Mission in for several years now. I live an hour away from the resorts and the drive is worth it. Once you arrive you can feel that you are away!! Great lanscaping!!! Beautiful views!! Courses in great shape!! Great attention!! Beverage carts always coming 3 or 4 times during the round!! It is worth ir. If you have a group even better!! They will give you a deal!! Thanks to all the staff for a great time!!!! Every time !!
Fun course just was aerated tho.
First time playing this course it was a great layout. Sadly just was aerated so I’d give it a month or two before it’s back in shape. Also would like to see a ranger help keep the pace of play up. We waited on every tee box and took 5 1/2 hours to play.
Beautiful air
ALWAYS enjoy the golf experiences at Mission Inn. Played El Campeon and yes the greens were aerated but still better than a lot of greens in the Central Fl area and did not negatively impact the golf. First class
Well worth the extra windshield time
Another perfect morning at Mission Inn. Even though it was recently aerified, the course was in great shape. The experience is well worth the drive time to get there.
golf now did not mention aerification of greens
El Campeon at Mission Inn is one of my favorite courses in the area! In my opinion....greens condition at a golf course is essential to receive high marks......thru no fault of Mission Inn I was lured into playing one of my favorite courses in the area because I did not call the pro shop myself to check on recent course aerification (my fault for not calling BUT GOLF NOW should have had a warning on their site!).
Members ruined my birthday
We had a 7:48 tee time.....Everything was good until the 3rd hole when the members from Mission inn showed up....Behind us.....Then we were pushed and hit into at least 6 times.....once within 2 feet of hitting my wife....Needless to say it ruined the day.....Overpriced for a house in transition from heavy overseeing......I can see if we had played slow today But we played this track in under 4 hours......sad to see a small group create problems.......
Totally a GEM!
My Tee to Green Players Club has played here before and we have never had a bad experience. We average 30-36 people. The staff is incredible making the entire day wonderful. It is run like a well oiled machine, from the arrival to course and final with lunch. This is a facility that is beautiful and the pro shop staff, cart station attendants and restaurant staff make it such a wonderful all around day. THe course is challenging and well maintained. I always love bringing my club members there. My next project is to do an overnight event there.
Do not hesitate to book there you will not be disappointed.
Definitely worth a visit
Great course in fantastic condition. Even if you have to drive quite a way this place must be on your list
I can't wait to go back
Please accept our apologies on behalf of our membership. We have addressed this situation with them. We hope this experience won't deter you from returning to our beautiful golf courses.
