Slammer and Squire Golf Course at World Golf Village
About
World Golf Village is home to 36 challenging holes of championship golf. The Slammer & Squire Course is named after the two World Golf Hall of Fame legends, Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen, who served as consultants to the course's designer, Bobby Weed. The golf course is known for its tricky par-3 holes and the carefully preserved beauty of the landscape. Its traditional layout meanders through native flatwoods and hardwood hammocks, running alongside wetland preserves and a wildlife habitat. The scenic Slammer & Squire Course features contoured greens and gently rolling, generous fairways. There is also an abundance of water on the golf course in the forms of lakes and marshes.

Great as well for a relatively new golfer
Don't be intimidated by this course ladies it's actually very playable
TOTAL EXPIERENCE DILUTED BY CARTPATHS ONLY
THE HEAVY RAINS OF THE PAST WEEK LEFT THE FAIRWAYS VERY SOGGY , OTHERWISE BEAUTIFUL .
THE GREEN WERE ONLY SLIGHTLY SLOW , BUT ROLLED TRUE . GOLFNOW HOT DEAL MADE THIS ONE OF THE BEST VALUES I'VE EXPERIENCED .
Exceeds Expectations !
The Slammer and Squire is a wonderful golf course, in excellent condition with sufficient challenges to test all skill levels. #5 requires a very confident tee shot: #14 offers a true risk / reward opportunity for those who try to drive the green and #18 is a strong closing hole. Highly recommended and very thankful for the northeast Florida resident program !
Higher expectations
I played here on my 50th B-day with my wife. We stayed at the resort. I realize it was wed. middle of the week, but it seemed like everyone was out of it. We showed up and rang the bell at the bag drop and no one ever came 20 min.s plus in 98 degree heat. We ended up carrying our bags all the way up to the club house. About 100 yards. Guy inside apologized and said he would get us a cart brought around. Went to the starter guy who was in a little air conditioned house like building on his phone head down and oblivious. 15 min.s ? Guy from pro shop come around carrying our bags as the kid jumps up and claims he heard no calls. notices his radio is off! Finally ready to play, aerated greens with sand. We played with a nice older guy and had a decent time. We played twilight so we didn't pay as much as we normally would have. I would have rated this way worse if we had paid more. Course was in good shape and views were cool. Easier than King and Bear.
Poor Green Conditions
I made a reservation through golf now for a business outing. When we arrived I noticed the sandy greens. The staff was very nice but for the money we paid to play this course without notice of their recent airification was way too much. I took my clients for what I thought would be a first class golf experience which turned out to be a day we could not enjoy the whole course. Had I been notified by golf now I would not have booked this course. And the course should not charge a premium rate at 2:31 in those conditions.
Not up to Par
Course condition unacceptable:
Tees, greens and fairway aerated and was not informed when making tee time on golfnow
Tees not mowed!
Greens slow really slow, bumpy and long
Staff nice
Disappointed
Played two days after green aerification. Greens were horrible. Has I known, I would not have booked.
Pleased again, mostly
The course was in great shape, greens were lightning fast and true, fairways were well trimmed and thr rough was even and true hole over hole. The driving range and practice facilities were in top condition and the pro shop staff was courteous and accommodating. The experience was truly enjoyable with the exception being the starter who was gruff and less than polite. Perhaps it was too early for him and he needed coffee but where the rounds are over $100 everyone should be a pro all the time.
I'll play again at Slammer and Squire because the course is great and it makes the golf worth the cost. Everyone else from the attendant to the pro shop was top notch.
great times
Loved the course. Can't wait to play King and the Bear. Good pace of play. Courteous staff are willing to work with you on anything you need. Next time I think I will be staying and playing.
Good Course, Fair Challenge.
Course was a fair test and in good shape. Obviously paying a premium for its location but had a hot deal that made it worthwhile. Regular price of $109 way too much for this course or King and Bear for $129. would recommend playing either of the two courses at World Golf Village but only as a hot deal. Not worth standard cost of $100+.
Great venue
A challenging course with many challenging holes. The surroundings are beautiful which lends to a relaxing wonderful experience,
What a great experiance
had a great time and played very well. A most play course if you in the area
Beautiful course
Staff was excellent very friendly. Course was exceptional. Great for intermediate players. Would definitely come back
Can't expect more
Quality course in near perfect condition. Greens were punched about 2-3 weeks ago, but have recovered well. The fairways are pretty wide, but plenty of trouble on the course. I will be back.
must do list
put this course and the King and Bear on your must play course list
a wonderful day of golf.
Great amenities and very good condition
The condition of the course was very good. Would have rated it excellent but the greens were a few days away from recovering from a June punch. So only a couple were not rolling true. We enjoyed the course and the friendly staff. We will play again this week.
Great course
Ok, so the course is awesome - one of my favorites to play. Nice wide fairways on most holes, nice variety of holes.
The staff however was mediocre at best - when I arrived there was no one at the bag drop which is fine for me I don't mind walking my bag. I get to the clubhouse and have to seek someone out to put my bag on a cart (who wasn't very polite at all). I check in - get my ticket - go to the range then the putting green. After watching a few groups tee off I check with the "starter" to see where I stand - he doesn't even have my down on his last and he claims that the other 3 people I was paired off 'already went ahead and teed of without letting him know.' So I'm thinking great - why are you here then? Meanwhile a twosome had just teed off right in front of me. So I ask him why I wasn't with them? He can't answer. Comes back and says "why don't you go ahead and join them?" So I skip the first hole - drive to the green and let the group know I'm joining them. Rude. The people I played with were fun though so that made it better. For a 'resort course' at the World Golf Hall of Fame they really need to step up their game.
Can't wait to go back
The course was in great shape. The greens had just been punched about a week ago maybe week and a half but they were almost fully grown in. The layouts was really fun compared to king and bear. I felt slammer and squire was easier to score on. Defiantly wanna go back soon!
