Slammer and Squire Golf Course at World Golf Village
About
World Golf Village is home to 36 challenging holes of championship golf. The Slammer & Squire Course is named after the two World Golf Hall of Fame legends, Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen, who served as consultants to the course's designer, Bobby Weed. The golf course is known for its tricky par-3 holes and the carefully preserved beauty of the landscape. Its traditional layout meanders through native flatwoods and hardwood hammocks, running alongside wetland preserves and a wildlife habitat. The scenic Slammer & Squire Course features contoured greens and gently rolling, generous fairways. There is also an abundance of water on the golf course in the forms of lakes and marshes.

Sunday Golf
The course was in great shape for early March although the day was quite windy. The problem was that the course had a shot gun start golf tournament in the morning. Some were still finishing the tournament as we played which resulted in slow play. The restaurant was closed which meant we could not get drinks for our outing prior to playing. The only saving grace was that the cart lady was available and provided excellent on course service. My wife and I enjoy playing at the Slammer and Squire. We also enjoy eating lunch in their restaurant prior to play. But had I known that they were hosting a shot gun start tournament that morning I would have played elsewhere to avoid any interference. I truly enjoy playing this course and will return. But it would have been nice to know about the tournament ahead of time for better planning purposes.
Slammer and squire
Course was in great shape. Greens were excellent. Pace of play on front 9 was very slow. Great golf course i would play again
Great Track !!!
Wonderful layout and in great shape. Well worth the $. Most enjoyable all round!!!!!
Last minute booking
We didn't know we were going to play golf til the last minute and was able to get on. In fact we got out a little early. The course was in fabulous shape! Fairways, greens and bunkers all good.
Nice course, SLOW play
I was visiting the area and having seen advertisements on TV was delighted to have the opportunity to play the Slammer & Squire course. Warming up on the driving range and putting green was great, and we teed off on time...then the waiting began. We had to wait 5-10 minutes for every shot. Upon walking to each green, you'd have to wait for the group in the fairway to clear as they were waiting for the green to clear. Asking a marshal about this, he replied "that's Saturday golf for you".
Sorry, I don't accept this! Courses charge a premium for weekend and holidays but don't offer anything for that extra charge. How about longer tee time intervals on busy days when the fees are higher? I wouldn't have thought a course of this caliber would play like a $20 muni on a weekend.
After 11 holes we quit - the back nine was even worse.
Disappointed
My brother in law and myself drove from Palm Coast to find out that 9 holes were closed so we had to play the same 9 twice. Also there was a junior league that was allowed to go ahead of us which slowed our game.
Hit by storm Matthew back 9 are back in great shape
Only 9 holes were open after the storm but we had a great time- in spite of our play:-)
Not now play latet
Like this place, so I invited customers down. Great lunch in the Grill. Then the bad news came. Course is under heavy renovations. Lot of GUR. Too much to allow play if you ask me. We had to play back nine twice. Just wrong time but should be in great shape by spring.
Slow round but understandable
Fairways had recently been over seeded - they look like they will be great in a few weeks time but were soft with little roll today
Cart path only was understandable but made for a slow round
Greens were consistent and rolled true and well
Overall the course conditions did not detract from a fun round on an excellent layout
Great course
Had a blast playing here again, greens were great even though they had recently been punched. Lots of people so pace of play was around 5 hours for 18 holes but it was a very enjoyable 5 hours. Definitely will be back soon!
Under water
Expected this course to be a treat but turned into nightmare. Course was virtually unplayable but they still put people out. Cart path only was in play but even to walk on the course you would sink into the fairway. Stayed covered in mud as with every shot was like hitting out of the water. When looking for your ball in the middle of fairway you looked for mounds as about every ball was plugged. Course is probably nice when dry. Just feel should have been compensated for such poor condition especially what I payed to play here and traveled 85 miles to play.
Slammer and Squire
Always enjoy playing the course. It was very soggy after five days of rain but no one can help that.
Great layout
Make sure to always call ahead and ask about course conditions first. Booked and they had punched the greens. Bummer⛳️
Best of the bunch
Of the 4 courses I played in and around Jax this was my favorite. Nice views of the HOF tower throughout. Risk reward holes. No aeration. I'll definitely be back.
Very Good Course, Disappointed in World Golf Village
I made the trek to World Golf Village expecting a PGA experience like I experienced at TPC Sawgrass. The hotel does NOT deliver on a golf-resort experience. It was loud, the service was poor, and the hotel was filled with many non-golfer groups. If you can find a way to play the Slammer & Squire without over-paying for the mediocre (2-Star) hotel, I would.
great course
The course is in great shape its a little soft from recent airation but in great shape as always
