Dayton Valley Golf Club
About
Dayton Valley Golf Club is an Arnold Palmer Signature design that has been a PGA Tour Qualifier course since 1995, making it the longest standing site in the country. The course is surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains and stretches across the valley below. The rolling, links-style layout features sculpted fairways and large, undulating greens. You may find yourself faced with a tough lie even after a good shot. It's a challenging test with plenty of water and strategically placed bunkers coming into play throughout. Careful shot placement is especially important on the water holes at Dayton Valley G.C. The most difficult hole on the golf course is the par-4 ninth. It's a lengthy dogleg left with water down along the entire left side of the fairway and short and right of the green. On your approach, hitting left of the green you'll find heavy rough or pot bunkers.

Great Day
First time visit this golf course. Beautiful. somewhat challenging with up and downs, sand bunkers and water. But it was very fun day for us.
Dayton
Like the course and have played it since it opened. Course was not in very good shape this time but I will continue to play it periodically.
Rough conditions but great pace of play
Finished round in 2.5 hours. Some holes were in rough shape, but all greens were in good condition.
Thanks so much for the great review, ajschane. We look forward to welcoming you back to our course soon. Thanks for choosing Dayton Valley Golf Club.
Needs Work
Greens were pretty good.
Tees were just ok
Sand traps were a mess and should be treated as ground under repair
Fairways were mostly awful

What’s happening at Dayton?
Lots of dry fairways much less plush than in the past. Doing drainage repairs?
Greens good.

Fairways need work
Tee boxes, greens in great shape, but large parts of fairways either waterlogged or bare. Needs work.
Hello, u838921757. Thanks so much for your review. We're so glad you enjoyed your round at Dayton Valley Golf Club. That's what we like to hear! We hope to see you again soon!
Disaster
Obviously this course has had some major irrigation issues and it’s basically unplayable at this time. Of course, everyone could understand unfortunate circumstances and irrigation issues at a golf course, but to charge the regular price without communicating with the guest the state of the course is unacceptable.
Thanks for the info as I always check recent reviews when coming out of town . Thanks again!
Course was Dry but still fun
The course was dryer than usual but with the heat wave I’m sure it’s hard to keep green! Always a beautiful course and greens were surprisingly slow too so was not the typical course conditions

COULD BE BETTER
I was expecting a challenging layout, but did not expect as many water hazards. This is a links course, but there is enough mounding that the hazards are hidden unless you study the hole diagrams.
I was disappointed in the fairway conditions, as it seems they may have started watering too late to keep the fairways green in many areas. However, they are now over-watering as there is a lot of standing water on several fairways.
Nearby courses seem to be in much better general condition.
Would like to play the course again, if it is in better condition.
Needs water
Lot's of dry grass areas, this course is in bad need of water, many areas in fairways are going dead or are already gone, ordered food on 9 tee and still waited 15 minutes at turn for hot dogs, but at least they were very good, this was a premiere course not to long ago...what happened?

What happened to Dayton Valley?
This course used to be one of our favorites! The layout is great and the course was challenging but fair. We are so sad to see what has happened. The fairways are in horrible shape with huge dry areas, dirt patches and weeds. Some tee boxes haven't been watered in weeks and are completely dead. Sand traps are rocky, weedy or filled with water. Even the areas around the clubhouse and along the course that used to be attractive and well kept are seriously neglected. Most of the greens were ok (only 3 and 13 had large dry areas). Some holes that used to be so charming are now really unattractive and almost unplayable (bad bunkers, bad rough, standing water ponds, etc.) - numbers 4, 7, 8 for example. It is such a a shame, as we LOVED this course - which makes it so much harder to see what has happened. The course needs some serious TLC. I hope that the owners plan a major investment to put the course back in the condition that it was in 5 years ago!
