Dayton Valley Golf Club
About
Dayton Valley Golf Club is an Arnold Palmer Signature design that has been a PGA Tour Qualifier course since 1995, making it the longest standing site in the country. The course is surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains and stretches across the valley below. The rolling, links-style layout features sculpted fairways and large, undulating greens. You may find yourself faced with a tough lie even after a good shot. It's a challenging test with plenty of water and strategically placed bunkers coming into play throughout. Careful shot placement is especially important on the water holes at Dayton Valley G.C. The most difficult hole on the golf course is the par-4 ninth. It's a lengthy dogleg left with water down along the entire left side of the fairway and short and right of the green. On your approach, hitting left of the green you'll find heavy rough or pot bunkers.

Course was Dry but still fun
The course was dryer than usual but with the heat wave I’m sure it’s hard to keep green! Always a beautiful course and greens were surprisingly slow too so was not the typical course conditions
COULD BE BETTER
I was expecting a challenging layout, but did not expect as many water hazards. This is a links course, but there is enough mounding that the hazards are hidden unless you study the hole diagrams.
I was disappointed in the fairway conditions, as it seems they may have started watering too late to keep the fairways green in many areas. However, they are now over-watering as there is a lot of standing water on several fairways.
Nearby courses seem to be in much better general condition.
Would like to play the course again, if it is in better condition.
Needs water
Lot's of dry grass areas, this course is in bad need of water, many areas in fairways are going dead or are already gone, ordered food on 9 tee and still waited 15 minutes at turn for hot dogs, but at least they were very good, this was a premiere course not to long ago...what happened?

What happened to Dayton Valley?
This course used to be one of our favorites! The layout is great and the course was challenging but fair. We are so sad to see what has happened. The fairways are in horrible shape with huge dry areas, dirt patches and weeds. Some tee boxes haven't been watered in weeks and are completely dead. Sand traps are rocky, weedy or filled with water. Even the areas around the clubhouse and along the course that used to be attractive and well kept are seriously neglected. Most of the greens were ok (only 3 and 13 had large dry areas). Some holes that used to be so charming are now really unattractive and almost unplayable (bad bunkers, bad rough, standing water ponds, etc.) - numbers 4, 7, 8 for example. It is such a a shame, as we LOVED this course - which makes it so much harder to see what has happened. The course needs some serious TLC. I hope that the owners plan a major investment to put the course back in the condition that it was in 5 years ago!
Very wet, a lot of the bunkers were flooded, the greens need some help

Great course, needs some work.
I love this course. A number of bunkers were flooded and when not flooded they are pretty much gravel. A few dry spots, but overall a great place to play.

Dayton Valley
Have played the course since it first opened and like the layout. Course was not in as good shape as usual and maintenance inside clubhouse has
Slacked off somewhat.
Nice Pace of Play
The course is in good shape, they just need to work a little bit in the bunkers, some of them are flooded a need real sand.
Overall 8 out of 10

Good overall course - could be in better conditon
I liked the course overall, but was a little disappointed with the overall condition. Tons of weeds and even lost a ball in a greenside bunker because it was a lake that needed to be drained. It plays pretty open, but you do have home on both sides of you on a lot of holes. I would play there again, but will give other tracks a chance before I go back maybe in mid summer where the drainage is better.
Nice experience
Course is in decent condition, some greens were recovering from winter, several ares were over watered and really soggy.
Friendly staff, beautiful scenery.
Enjoy!

Dry and Brown
The course is very dry for some reason, despite a second wet winter in a row. The greens were largely still brown and dry and recently punched. One person in our group reported there was no staff at the pro shop for 5 minutes when he arrived, then no one at the bar, and while the pro shop said the cart keys were outside with the cart boy, the cart boy was nowhere to be found. And we started behind a tournament that caused groups to stack up 3 deep by the 7th hole. Worst conditions and experience in the last 3 years. We're avoiding for at least 2 weeks and hoping the staffing issues are transitory.
Great Value Deal
The course was in great shape and reasonably well maintained especially after a long and extended winter in Northern Nevada. The check in was very professional and efficient and the host was very nice to deal with. Since we were about 40 minutes early and since the 1st tee was open, he let us on before our designated tee time reservation. For the TeeOff Online DEAL for this reservation and this GC, this was a great deal. Hoping for more similar deals in the near future

Dayton Valley Golf
Great layout but course conditions are very poor. Issues with irrigation have left the course in poor condition.

Good course
Enjoyed our round. Course is recovering well from such a long winter. Greens were recently punched but looking good. Almost an Eagle on #2. Yes, I made the 6-inch birdie putt 🤣
