Dayton Valley Golf Club is an Arnold Palmer Signature design that has been a PGA Tour Qualifier course since 1995, making it the longest standing site in the country. The course is surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains and stretches across the valley below. The rolling, links-style layout features sculpted fairways and large, undulating greens. You may find yourself faced with a tough lie even after a good shot. It's a challenging test with plenty of water and strategically placed bunkers coming into play throughout. Careful shot placement is especially important on the water holes at Dayton Valley G.C. The most difficult hole on the golf course is the par-4 ninth. It's a lengthy dogleg left with water down along the entire left side of the fairway and short and right of the green. On your approach, hitting left of the green you'll find heavy rough or pot bunkers.

Great value

The course conditions were pretty OK for this time of year, with the greens being almost perfect. You can tell a lot of effort has gone into maintaining the course. Check-in was a bit hectic with only one person managing both the desk and pro shop, but the staff was extremely friendly and helpful in guiding us. Overall, a great experience for the cost!

Beautiful course!

Absolutely beautiful course!! We were extremely impressed with the greens and the fairway grass. There was a lot of water to keep out of but withe views of the mountains in the back ground made losing a ball here or there totally worth it!

Disappointing Decline

I recently had the opportunity to revisit Dayton Valley Golf Course after several years, and I must say, the experience was quite disappointing. The course, which once boasted beautiful landscapes and well-maintained greens, is unfortunately in a poor state.

The most glaring issue is the condition of the fairways, where the grass is dry and patchy. It was disheartening to see how much the course has deteriorated, especially with several features seemingly missing or neglected. The bunkers, which were once a significant part of the course's charm, have all but disappeared, leaving behind a barren landscape that detracts from the overall experience. To add to the woes, the water features are completely dry, further diminishing the aesthetic appeal of the course.

On a positive note, the greens were in decent shape, providing a glimmer of hope amidst the overall decline. Additionally, the staff were friendly and accommodating, which helped to slightly uplift the experience.

However, given the current state of the course, I cannot recommend playing here at full price. It’s truly unfortunate to see a place that was once beautiful and well-maintained fall into such disrepair. I hope that management takes note of these issues and works towards restoring Dayton Valley Golf Course to its former glory. Until then, I would suggest looking for other options.

Dayton

Back nine in bad condition and the greens were nice, but extremely slow and spongy. Maybe will try again next year to see if conditions are better.

Dayton

Haven’t played here in awhile and knew going in the course was in rough shape. Surprisingly it wasn’t as bad as I expected. Don’t get me wrong it has been in much better shape in years past, but it’s obvious work is being done to improve the conditions. The course is in very playable condition and is still a good challenging course even in it’s current condition.

All right

I had heard the course was in terrible shape, but when we got there, it was much better than I thought we were going to see. Greens have been freshly punched and we’re a little bit slow. Pace of play was very nice. We finished our round in four hours overall I think the course is looking better.

Sand Traps

Rock 🪨 Filled

Greens / Fairways were great - a little furry but course has amazing potential

Hopefully they can get conditions under control

A drew holes decimated - lots of dead areas

Maybe our drought resistant landscaping in some tough spots

Love playing here through

Disappointed

I really like this track. It's the first time I have played it this year. They had a lot of winter kill I guess. They are doing a lot of work on it, looks like irrigation problems burnt grass and drainage problems. The fairways were looking like they were coming back. A lot of burnt bare spots. I don't know what happened I didn't talk to anyone in the clubhouse. The greens were in good shape. It's a beautiful course in bad shape, but they are working on it. I'm hoping they get it back, it's a nice course.
