Dayton Valley Golf Club
About
Dayton Valley Golf Club is an Arnold Palmer Signature design that has been a PGA Tour Qualifier course since 1995, making it the longest standing site in the country. The course is surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains and stretches across the valley below. The rolling, links-style layout features sculpted fairways and large, undulating greens. You may find yourself faced with a tough lie even after a good shot. It's a challenging test with plenty of water and strategically placed bunkers coming into play throughout. Careful shot placement is especially important on the water holes at Dayton Valley G.C. The most difficult hole on the golf course is the par-4 ninth. It's a lengthy dogleg left with water down along the entire left side of the fairway and short and right of the green. On your approach, hitting left of the green you'll find heavy rough or pot bunkers.

She need some TLC
Apparently there is a water issue and they’re having a hard time keeping water on a lot of the course. It’s an Arnold Palmer course and it is a fun and challenging course but there are a lot of dry spots on the course. I hope they can get this figured out before it gets any worse. Greens were good!
Avoid until course is remediated
Super disappointed in the condition of this golf course. Saw some reviews in 2024 that were bad, but as of recently there were positive ones... Unfortunately they must have some staff or friends trying to bolster up sales. Really a mistake because we drove out from Reno to play, and will likely will never play here again due to them not being upfront with the conditions.
Zero information on the website, or posted on social media about the current state of the course. Course conditions were horrendous, dead areas everywhere, hard pan, weeds, etc.
There were signs on the doors asking to observe a 90 degree rule becasue of a water pump issue that they "have no control over". Almost every golf course in the region has onsite wells to utilize groundwater for irrigation and water features... And if they are using a off-site well, then they should be working out a solution to replace the well pump. It's going to cost vastly more money to revive the course than to fix a well pump.
On top of all this, our round was over 5 hours because there was no Marshall running the course to help with pace of play. Just a starter at the 1st tee.
The only plus side was very friendly staff, but unfortunately that doesn't make up for all the issues.
Needs water
Dayton was a nice course, it looks like the cost of water is way up. The fairways and rough are brown and spotty. I have always liked this course. I've been playing it since it opened. It was a beautiful course in it's splendor. We played it last year and it was bad, it's getting better than it was but still hasn't came back. The sand traps are pretty barren, and the fairways spots of brown.Needs maintenance kind of sad it's a beautiful lay-out.
Good layout
Overall great course. The carts needed to be cleaned and the range balls we’re very old and not cleaned as well.
Beautiful Course
We love playing this course. Very challenging and beautiful. We will definitely visit again.
Great value with $55 morning tee-time.
First time to DVGC. My buddy and I enjoyed ourselves and appreciated the cart for only $55 with easy pace of play. Friendly staff and the greens are some of the best we have seen this year.
Course condition
Seems like course is getting bad every year. bunker are worst seen in many year. Too much water near green. Fairway are over grown on some holes like rough.
Great value
The course conditions were pretty OK for this time of year, with the greens being almost perfect. You can tell a lot of effort has gone into maintaining the course. Check-in was a bit hectic with only one person managing both the desk and pro shop, but the staff was extremely friendly and helpful in guiding us. Overall, a great experience for the cost!
Beautiful course!
Absolutely beautiful course!! We were extremely impressed with the greens and the fairway grass. There was a lot of water to keep out of but withe views of the mountains in the back ground made losing a ball here or there totally worth it!
Disappointing Decline
I recently had the opportunity to revisit Dayton Valley Golf Course after several years, and I must say, the experience was quite disappointing. The course, which once boasted beautiful landscapes and well-maintained greens, is unfortunately in a poor state.
The most glaring issue is the condition of the fairways, where the grass is dry and patchy. It was disheartening to see how much the course has deteriorated, especially with several features seemingly missing or neglected. The bunkers, which were once a significant part of the course's charm, have all but disappeared, leaving behind a barren landscape that detracts from the overall experience. To add to the woes, the water features are completely dry, further diminishing the aesthetic appeal of the course.
On a positive note, the greens were in decent shape, providing a glimmer of hope amidst the overall decline. Additionally, the staff were friendly and accommodating, which helped to slightly uplift the experience.
However, given the current state of the course, I cannot recommend playing here at full price. It’s truly unfortunate to see a place that was once beautiful and well-maintained fall into such disrepair. I hope that management takes note of these issues and works towards restoring Dayton Valley Golf Course to its former glory. Until then, I would suggest looking for other options.
Dayton
Back nine in bad condition and the greens were nice, but extremely slow and spongy. Maybe will try again next year to see if conditions are better.
