Dayton Valley Golf Club

The course is very dry for some reason, despite a second wet winter in a row. The greens were largely still brown and dry and recently punched. One person in our group reported there was no staff at the pro shop for 5 minutes when he arrived, then no one at the bar, and while the pro shop said the cart keys were outside with the cart boy, the cart boy was nowhere to be found. And we started behind a tournament that caused groups to stack up 3 deep by the 7th hole. Worst conditions and experience in the last 3 years. We're avoiding for at least 2 weeks and hoping the staffing issues are transitory.

The course was in great shape and reasonably well maintained especially after a long and extended winter in Northern Nevada. The check in was very professional and efficient and the host was very nice to deal with. Since we were about 40 minutes early and since the 1st tee was open, he let us on before our designated tee time reservation. Great layout but course conditions are very poor. Issues with irrigation have left the course in poor condition.

Enjoyed our round. Course is recovering well from such a long winter. Greens were recently punched but looking good. Almost an Eagle on #2. Yes, I made the 6-inch birdie putt 🤣

This course used to host pga Q school. It has steadily gone downhill the last 7 years. Its a shame

Terrible sand traps and the greens were slow and very bumpy. Not close to true roll. But course I guess was ok for this time of year. Not a good time for a review.

For winter golf, it is pretty darn nice here! We had some hail today and the greens were covered in white - it lasted just a few minutes but since the greens had been punched recently, we played a two-putt rule so putting on the hail-covered greens was sort of a kick. By two or three holes later, it had all melted. This course had to be terrific when it was first opened...fairways and bunkers need work but for the money - terrific!

When this course was first built, it must have been quite gorgeous. Love all the water and all the mounds on the fairways. Duncan has bought it and I hope they will do it better over time - now, it's good but far from great - fairways are a bit of a mess and the sand in the traps is almost non-existent. It's a drive to get there so I do hope it will come back to its "glory days!"

Course is still getting healed after, evidently, years of neglect. Clearly, this was once a really lovely golf course. Duncan bought it a few years ago and I don't know what they've been doing these past three years? Fairways need work, traps are lousy, and the greens are okay - hard to tell as they had been punched recently.

I live on the driving range and have seen it go from green to sand. Dead trees throughout the golf course. Today, the wind blew sand like a dozen helicopter landings. Owners are unwilling to do ANYTHING,

The clubhouse food is terrible too.

I love the course just to much sand on the green's they should have let the customers know the condition of the green's

This was my favorite course in the Reno, Sparks, Carson area. Duncan was going to sell it and let it go. Water issues galore. It tuned into almost a swamp. Someone new bought it and transferred it back to the splendor it once enjoyed. This year it is in the same condition Duncan left it. I cannot get anyone to drive out there to golf. I have 2 free passes and still cannot get another to join me. I belong to NNSGC, as well as a large group 28-40 guys who golf together. No one wants to play you anymore. Are you preparing to sell it or just stopped caring about golf and your past clients.

Dayton Valley Golf Course can be challenging but fun. The greens are in great shape as is the fairways. There's a couple of holes with some rough edges but other than that the course is in great shape right now. The pace of play is very good and the 101 Bar & Grill is a great place to finish for a drink and/or bite to eat with a friendly crew and watch your favorite sport on the multiple TVs.
