Stallion Mountain Golf Club is conveniently situated just minutes from the Strip, but this Las Vegas golf course feels much further away thanks to a scenic landscape of towering, mature pines and six sparkling lakes. Over the years the course has hosted several major events including Frank Sinatra's Celebrity Classic and Las Vegas Invitational. It has a versatile layout that offers plenty of variety and shot values, which makes it appealing for a range of different skill levels. The par 4s and par 5s require long, accurate drives but the approach shots will test your iron game. The golf course also features undulating fairways lined with bunkers and water hazards come into play on 10 holes. In addition to the golf course, Stallion Mountain boasts a comprehensive practice facility that includes a 16-acre driving range with 40 tees, five practice putting greens, two chipping greens, and two practice bunkers.

Stallion Mountain

The course was in great shape. We had nice weather in late October. They paired us up with a twosome which were very friendly. It was unfortunate that we didn't see the drink cart until hole 8. A good value for the price however the pace of play was super slow. That's not normal. But that Saturday it was very slow.

Just Don’t

What an absolute abomination in every way imaginable. I had been pre-warned by another buddy who had previously played it, we should’ve listened.

This is a sorry excuse for a golf course, the term “dirt track” is about the only way to properly describe it.

In all my travels I’ve yet to come across a (desert) course in this condition, it felt more like an inner city course, the likes of which I’d routinely pass up for anything better.

It didn’t start out great, we arrived to the course with plenty of time to practice/warm up, however they didn’t have enough carts.

Seems their practice on this date was to have every group wait for one to be returned, we happened to wait 30 minutes beyond our (already) delayed tee time before we even had our carts.

Here I thought that would be it for the pain, boy was I wrong. Despite the process just accessing the carts, the group ahead had yet to even get underway.

Then there was the (brutal) pace of play and the lack of any measures to improve the situation. It is a rarity when I’d prefer to walk off a course (if given the opportunity) rather than endure this type of perfect storm. I’m not sure how many holes were open ahead of the group in front of us, had to have been a significant gap.

In the end I’d not recommend this to anyone, ride off on a Stallion to any place else.

Stallion Mountain

Played for the first time with group who played multiple times before.

Price was average to above average with current conditions

Greens were slow and course pretty dry in all areas but good layout. Pace was slow assuming weekend and very nice weather. Would probably play again

Disappointed

We had high hopes for the course but were disappointed when we arrived and the course was so dried out and dead in places. We had paid a big price for very little golf course. The staff gave very little info about going to the first tee and we were reprimanded for going there without an escort. It seemed a bit heavy handed. We played with a local fellow and he said the course has gone down hill over the years. We won’t be back and won’t recommend it to anyone.

Slow play

Pace of play was poor this round. Cart states a 4 hour 20 minute round, but this day it was 5 hours 30 minutes. They allowed a 5-some out in front of us, they were slow as was the forest me in front of them. They had handicap flags, which is fine, but park your carts on the side not right in front of the green where you have to wait for their snail crawl walk to get to the cart, wipe the clubs off, put them in the bag, sit in the cart, take a bite of a sandwich and then move on. No one patrolling the course to keep things moving. Course was in decent shape, but overshadowed by the naps we had to take between shots.

Interesting Layout but conditions were awful

We were disappointed by the conditions of the course. Having paid the same amount to play a similar course two days earlier with perfect fairways, traps, greens and rough, Stallion was a mess. Dried

Out, greens too long, traps hard and the rough needed cutting. We liked the layout of the holes but find the drives between holes ridiculously long. We played with a native Las Vegan and he agreed the course was shoddy and not worth the cost. Only if future reviews show improvements will we consider coming back.

Stallion has improved 👍

Course has really improved since I last played. The fairways are greener and dry spots have been seeded. Greens are smoother and well maintained. Staff members are very friendly and professional.

Vegas Strip Diversion

Fun layout. Challenging from whites and tips. Seniors tees are well forwarded providing seniors a better opportunity to enjoy the course also. Driver not the choice on many holes. Hitting the fairway is a must. Primary rough is penal. Rough around greens on a few holes is quite the challenge. Greens were soft and a little slow but putted fairly true

Challenging course

Stallion Mtn is a challenging course with plenty of contour on the entire course. Course is very well maintained with nice tee boxes and greens kept in excellent condition, with a few exceptions to portions of the greens burned.

Great layout fun and challenging course

Staff was great. Great pace of play. Due to the hotter than normal late September weather allowed us to play at our own pace. Greens were extremely slow and slightly overgrown. The pro shop warned us that the rough was overgrown as well and my group lost several balls due to this. Overall it was a fun day on the course but scores were definitely affected due to the conditions of the greens.
