Stallion Mountain Golf Club is conveniently situated just minutes from the Strip, but this Las Vegas golf course feels much further away thanks to a scenic landscape of towering, mature pines and six sparkling lakes. Over the years the course has hosted several major events including Frank Sinatra's Celebrity Classic and Las Vegas Invitational. It has a versatile layout that offers plenty of variety and shot values, which makes it appealing for a range of different skill levels. The par 4s and par 5s require long, accurate drives but the approach shots will test your iron game. The golf course also features undulating fairways lined with bunkers and water hazards come into play on 10 holes. In addition to the golf course, Stallion Mountain boasts a comprehensive practice facility that includes a 16-acre driving range with 40 tees, five practice putting greens, two chipping greens, and two practice bunkers.

Pathetic Conditions

The driving range you are literally hitting off of dirt. The course is not much better. A dust cloud following every cart. Walking on the so called grass, seems like you are breaking the blades off with every step. There is just no grass. Greens haven’t been cared for in days. Not a single rake on the course. What was absolutely amazing was that one of the very nice staff, asked us to please leave a review. We mentioned that it would be nice to play on some grass, and his response was, it’s winter in Las Vegas. Please have your whole staff go to Paiute, Rhodes Ranch, or Chimera. They’re in beautiful shape for January.

Just Pathetic

Excellent course lay out

The course layout was narrow and fun, much like those in Japan or Korea. While some people mentioned the course conditions weren’t great, I honestly thought the fairways were in better shape and the grass was of higher quality compared to Oak Creek Golf Course in Irvine. The greens had a bit of bounce, but they weren’t punched or anything. There were mountain breaks, and the tricky greens added to the challenge, especially when a missed putt could roll downhill to the outside of green. Overall, I think the course is excellent for the price.

Over 5 1/2 hours to play

Greens keeper decided to put cups on the greens on slopes and hills making the putting ridiculous. This slowed the play down. At one point there were 5 groups on 1 hole. Just doesn't make playing fun when you have to wait and play miniature golf.

Stallion MNT.

Expected much better from all the reviews I read before choosing this course. Fairway were cut so short a lot of bare spots and fairway painted. I expected so much more for the price. I have zero desire to play this course again, very disappointing. the 2guys I played with were great but all 3 of us felt the same way.

Sub Par

I recently played a round at Stallion Mountain Golf Club and, unfortunately, left feeling quite disappointed. While the staff was friendly and accommodating, the course conditions were deplorable—a major letdown, especially during high season in Nevada.

The grass was dead, and it was disheartening to see fairways and greens painted in an attempt to compensate. It’s clear the course is not being maintained to the standards one would expect, and the overall experience felt very sad given the potential this layout has.

Speaking of layout, the course design was fair and offered a decent challenge, but the high rate for the round simply didn’t match the poor condition of the course. I sincerely hope management addresses these issues because this course could be so much more with proper care and attention.

It was too slow. Started at 11:30 and was not able to finish because I did not think it would take more than 4 hours and I had plans

Great Idea

I like that the course choose to eliminate the back tees. It’s more playable, and fun. But hopefully it’s only on weekends and holidays.

Good course for the average golfer

I Went golfing here on Christmas Day and I was very happy with my choice. The staff was outstanding and the pace of play was good. The course it’s self has a couple rough spots but overall is a pretty’s nice course with plenty of water in sneaky spots to keep you on your toes. The only downside I had was the greens are very slow and and short game shot will not run but almost always sit where it lands on the green but I would definitely play here again.

Good layout, stacked tee times (7.5 minutes)

Management stacks tee times every 7/8 minutes so if you're planning on playing when the course is busy, don't. You will have a 5+ hour round.

The layout of the course is good, there's small greens, water hazards on several holes, requiring you to be accurate and know your numbers. Balls would run off into dirt frequently, even after hitting what I thought were good drives. There were no stakes out there other than the women's and senior tees, would have liked to play from further than 6000 yards, made most of the holes into a drive + wedge.

Course condition was about what you would expect from a budget course in Vegas in the winter. Rough was dormant, fairway was cut very short (balls would roll out), tee boxes were short. Greens weren't fast, felt a little spongy, grain was longer than other courses.

There is a grass-only driving range which is rare in Vegas. Balls were not included with your tee time. There's also a large practice chipping/bunker area and putting area.

Carts had black leather which was an interesting decision for Las Vegas (wonder what it would be like in the summer). There was no GPS in the carts. There were no water bottles provided. Restrooms had drinking fountains where you could get a drink, but that's it. No ball cleaners, a wet towel was provided instead.

This course is on the east side of Vegas south of the wastewater treatment plant, and you absolutely smell it on a few holes. The entire community is gated HOA (although we were not stopped at the gate). Homes are in good condition and the community is quiet. Did not hear any barking dogs, or people's music, and saw no homeless (although there were kids trying to fish on 11). The dining area no longer exists, the course does not want you stopping at the turn.

GreatCourse

Played yesterday and course in great condition. Staff great and nice, plus groundskeepers everywhere working on the course. Was enjoyable for my handicap (18) and pace was fast. Greens were very hard to putt and read, but fun.
