Not worth the money
Was really intrigued by the concept - 18 holes designed after selected British Open venues - but even allowing for Las Vegas prices you can find better value. Played late October and the weather was absolutely perfect, but for some reason course management decided to pull the cart girl on the back nine, and they closed down the lounge before we finished. In Las Vegas!!! Be wary of this place...doesn't seem to me they have the customer in mind.
This course was like no other course I have played.
I loved playing this course. I read lots of good reviews and a few bad reviews, but I'm giving it a good review. I ended up in a couple of those deep bunkers. What a challenge. This course had one bunker that had 7 steps to get down into it. Almost landed in it. I can't wait to go back and play this course again. The course was very forgiving on some holes.
My wife's favorite course
Awesome course. I have played here before and it still a great experience. I love the layout which is based on the best holes of The Open.
This course is a ton of fun!
Course was great! Food was great! it was 100 deg but with the breeze it felt like 75. Afternoon play was no problem.
Royal heat
Royal Links is great fun. The hole re-creations are beautiful and very real, though its a little hard to imagine you are in Scotland in the 105 Vegas heat with desert mountains in the background. The fairways are in good shape as are the greens but watch out for those pot bunkers. We had to run from several bee hives in the bunkers. Friendly staff and nice facilities make it a nice day all round. I'll definitely play there again.
average course
staff was super friendly , this is a good course ,greens were slow but good shape .
Great overall experience!
As a Las Vegas local, we get outstanding rates all year long on some great courses.
This was my first time playing Royal Links and I have to say, I'm impressed. Royal Links is the Country Club / Resort feel course that lives up to all the hype.
Overpriced Track
Hate to say it, being there is nothing wrong with this track, fairways are in good shape and like reading about the Open history as you go from tee to tee, greens were punched a few weeks back and are not quite 100%, but there are other courses in town that are just as nice if not nicer, that are much less money. I'm not sure how true to life each hole is from the hole in England it's inspired by, but think you are paying premium for the gimmick and don't feel it's worth it. I guess if you can get a Hot Deal, it might be worth the play, but would not recommend it being the other nice courses in the area for less money.
Fun to play and watch for fairway bunkers
Great course and difficult, but a pleasure to play. WOuld recommend again for sure........
4.5 rating from me
Green was excellent , speed about 10 and difficult pin position. Pace of play a little slow otherwise the experience was fabulous. practice facility was excellent.
Well worth the money to play here
Holes are modeled on British Open course holes so the course has a real links feel to it but don't let this put you off if you don't like links style golf courses. To get the chance to play a replica of the Road Hole or the Postage Stamp or many of the other Great British Open courses more than makes up for any dislike of Links style courses.
Course condition was excellent - firm fast fairways, true greens that hold good shots and super friendly and attentive staff make for a great day.
friendly staff,fun course,
Highly recommend this track, definitely book tee time here, try to play early in morning, great all grass driving range, good place to test long irons and fairway woods. You will use every club in your bag.
nice place - friendly staff -
good examples of the best of the Open Championships.. Very friendly staff from the bag drop through the 19th hole. Had a really nice round, first class practice area and the course was very well maintained. would recommend this for anyone looking for a nice place to play when in vegas.
Links style with Las Vegas weather
Looks and style of a true links course. Has detials for each hole about the history of links course. Fairways and greens are immaculate. Rough and dunes are semi dry to get the feeling and looks of true links. The fescue looks well managed and should be avoided at all costs. Greens were well maintained and smooth. Slight breeze along with the spring/summer sun makes the course very comfortable. Clubhouse (castle) is very charming. Staff was wonderful.
Gimmicky, Slow Pace, Fairways Need Attention
The staff was great and very friendly. The greens were in pristine condition and challenging. The fairways were a different story and in dire need of some fertilizer and a little TLC. The course is interesting and gives you a taste of Scottish course design, which is pretty cool.
A twosome and a threesome ahead of us played PAINFULLY slow and there was not a marshall in site.
Overall, I played 3 Vegas courses on my recent trip (1. Spanish Trail - great value, nice track in solid shape, close to the strip, less than $100 green fee 2. Revere Lexington - outstanding course, great layout, pristine condition and awesome views, green fee around $120 and 3. Royal Links - see above, green fee $200). I would recommend the other two without hesitation, Royal Links, not so much. I won't be going back.
Very different than what most US golfers are used too im assuming.
This course is advertised as copying some of the greatest holes across the pond in Europe. They did a great job as it actually makes you feel like you are somewhat there. My only real complaint were the speed of the greens. They seemed on the slower side and had a carpet like feel to them but they looked gorgeous. Be prepared to bring your A wedge game here, some very tough bunkers (just like the British Open) and elevated greens. Overall this course is a must play at least once at least for the experience. Staff is very friendly and the club house looks like a castle (pretty darn cool!)
The Golf Experience of a Lifetime!!!
Ever year I watch the British Open on TV and think "I wonder how I would play that shot"... what's great about Royal Links is that you can! It's a links style course that re-creates the holes of the British Open. AMAZING!!!! What a fantastic golf experience... one that I cherish for years to come! Highly Recommended!
Royal Links offers a taste of links golf, Vegas style
Royal Links might be the most fun of the three Las Vegas courses owned by Walters Golf to play. Fun factor can be as big a characteristic as conditioning and value in defining the true merits of a course.
Royal Links, a layout stocked with replica holes from British Open venues, can be a bit quirky, but what links course with blind shots, pot bunkers, bad bounces off of rippling fairways and hairy dunes isn't?
Eleven of the 14 courses that have hosted the British Open are represented at the 7,029-yard Royal Links.
Some unique holes give a relatively flat parcel of land without any water some great personality. Of the three holes from the Old Course at St. Andrews, it's the 10th that remains the most memorable. Players hit over a billboard and stone fence meant to mimic the famous tee shot of the "Road Hole," the 17th at St. Andrews. The 324-yard 11th hole is blind off the tee with the green tucked behind dunes, a tribute to the sixth hole at Royal Cinque Ports, the course more commonly known as Deal, which hosted The Open in 1909 and 1920.
Go on, give er a go!
The course was in excellent shape and if you don't think you will get out to "The Old Course" anytime ever, let alone the rest of the British Open venues, then this is the course for you. It is a bit gimmicky, but so is Vegas in general.
Recommend if you are a tourist, rent a car for the day, even if from your hotel/casino because the cab ride alone will kill you.
Cheers mate!
"Well Done"
Played with my 7yr old daughter to practice for the US Kids Golf European Championship she is playing im may . The course was in great shape with relistic fescue and nice deep pot bunkers everywhere . Pretty cool castle clubhouse and nice driving range with unlimited balls . Some super pretty caddies to rent & ride which seem to help find poor tee shots into the fescue. However , its possible some guys might see less fescue off the tee if they were only trying to impress there friends . The place was great , the conditions were fun , and the caddies were pretty and noligable .
