About
The Barony Course at Port Royal Golf Club constitutes 18 of this well-known island facility's 54 holes.
Playing to just 6,543 yards from the gold tees, Barony is a very enjoyable course for all skill levels. The back nine in particular is a fine mix of long and short holes. Like its sister courses at Port Royal, Barony begins and ends at the club's beautiful Antebellum-style clubhouse.
From the tee, many of the holes on Barony appear to be relatively open. But as you approach the green the real challenge of the course becomes clear. The greens are small and protected by deep bunkers and Bermuda rough, demanding an excellent touch with the medium and short irons. This is a course where accuracy, not length is the key factor.

Good course. Very good practice area
Our second time here. We played both courses. Very nice conditions.
Fun round
My wife and I played midweek around noon. Great pace of play but it's off-season. Course was in good shape for mid December. Staff was great.

Fun round of golf
Conditions good considering Bermuda grass is going dormant. Greens smooth and fast. Sand traps well manicured. I did not play well, lost a couple balls due to wildly errant shots, but enjoyed the outing.

Very Disappointing
Course generally in good shape, couple of greens in need of repair. Bunkers unattended (hard and unraked). Pace was ridiculously slow, well over five hours to play. No on course marshall to speed things up. No one at snack bar for service, no on course service. Wouldn't recommend. Many better options available in the area.

Loads of sand at Barony
The two nines were very different. Front 9 seemed like a standard resort course, back 9 more interesting though some holes seemed gimmicky. Overall, enjoyed the round but prefer Robber's Row. Staff are some of the friendliest you'll ever encounter. Great clubhouse and restaurant.

Thank you for your review and rating. We do have a lot of green side bunkers on Barony. Barony is known for generous fairways, small greens and plenty of sand. That said, it's a fun course to play and the back 9-holes are visually different and beautiful.

Late start spoils the day
Reserved a 1.08 tee time and when we checked in we were told we were now at 1.24. There had to be 16 carts waiting for the starter to go to the first tees. We actually teed off around 1.50 and had to quit after 15 holes as it was getting too dark to continue. Like the course though and the conditions were good. Disappointed we could not finish the round.

If you like doglegs to the left
Real nice course. Flat with a lot of left doglegs. Greens were in good shape, and a (very) small. Bunkers are about 10 yards from the green edge in many cases. Driving range was closed due to ran and car show, course was cart paths only and play was fairly slow.

beautiful and picturesque
Unfortunately there was tremendous rain the day before so it was cart path only. Considering the volume of rain the course drained well except for a few bunkers that had standing water in them
Greens dried well and were moderate pace and firm
