About
The Barony Course at Port Royal Golf Club constitutes 18 of this well-known island facility's 54 holes.
Playing to just 6,543 yards from the gold tees, Barony is a very enjoyable course for all skill levels. The back nine in particular is a fine mix of long and short holes. Like its sister courses at Port Royal, Barony begins and ends at the club's beautiful Antebellum-style clubhouse.
From the tee, many of the holes on Barony appear to be relatively open. But as you approach the green the real challenge of the course becomes clear. The greens are small and protected by deep bunkers and Bermuda rough, demanding an excellent touch with the medium and short irons. This is a course where accuracy, not length is the key factor.

Had a good time
The staff at the proshop and the starter were very accommodating and welcoming. The golf course has a nice layout and golfer friendly. I highly recommend this course.
Terrible terrible terrible
Played the course on 7/27/2021. No one mentioned that the greens were recently aerated. They were impossible to play so the golf experience was poor to say the least. The pace of play was very slow and no ranger bothered to visit the course. In addition, conditions were such that it was cart path only. The result was that this was a terrible terrible terrible golf experience. Stay away from this “bargain “

I booked through golfnow and missed the aerification notice. The course layout is fun and other than the sanded bumpy greens it was in decent shape. Anything more than the hot deal price ($62 all in) would be too much. I can't imagine paying double that for the standard morning rate.

Beautiful
Love this course, found the front nine better than the back nine. The grill was great for lunch. I hope they repair the restroom at hole 6 soon

Great Course
The staff at the course could not be more helpful or friendly. Other course I could get a lesson from the staff here.
Barony - Port Royal
Pace of play was horribly slow. Eight minute spacing is ridiculous.
Greens were very inconsistent on speed and roll.
They were in a hurry to push people onto the course, and didn’t bother telling anyone that the bathrooms were closed on the course until you go to the first tee. Problem is, the first tee was a half mile from the clubhouse.
Never saw a beverage cart until the 15th hole and the turn is nowhere near the clubhouse. No water to drink anywhere.
Nice place but terrible management of facilities.

The starter saved the day….
This coulda gone south quickly if not for the friendliest of starters (Herb). I had signed up as a single (via GolfNow), but the “threesome” showed up as a “foursome” (mortal sin in golf…just sayin’). Herb quickly peeled a single from another group and sent us out as a twosome, AHEAD of the (not) threesome. Well played, Herb!
Greens are still recovering, but it is a challenging track. You won’t lose a lot of balls here, but you need to put the ball on the correct side of the fairway to score well here.
