The Barony Course at Port Royal Golf Club constitutes 18 of this well-known island facility's 54 holes.

Playing to just 6,543 yards from the gold tees, Barony is a very enjoyable course for all skill levels. The back nine in particular is a fine mix of long and short holes. Like its sister courses at Port Royal, Barony begins and ends at the club's beautiful Antebellum-style clubhouse.

From the tee, many of the holes on Barony appear to be relatively open. But as you approach the green the real challenge of the course becomes clear. The greens are small and protected by deep bunkers and Bermuda rough, demanding an excellent touch with the medium and short irons. This is a course where accuracy, not length is the key factor.

Three Rounds in Winter

For the last 14 months we have been coming to Hilton Head to get away form sitting at home during the Pandemic. Discovered Port Royal's two courses through our time shares affiliation with some courses nearby and the discount really makes this course a screaming value. Wonderful staff and well maintained beautiful course layout and surroundings with some challenging and some forgiving holes. Each course offers something different for every type of golfer. The Club house has great food and outdoor area for a break before starting your second round.

Fun play

My wife and I had a fun day on this course. Tee boxes and greens were in great condition for the time of yesr and the fairways were understandably brown. The greens are well protected so your approach shots need accuracy. Fairways are generous. Starter had a great sense of humor.. Highly recommend this course
