Oyster Reef features elevated tees and lush fairways lined by thick stands of live oak and pine. Numerous doglegs accented by strategically located mounds and fairway bunkers, call for well-planned tee shots. Varying sizes of greens with well-defined tiers place a premium on precise approach shots.

The par-3 sixth hole, which plays 192 yards from the back tees to a green set against a backdrop of Port Royal Sound, is one of the most visually spectacular holes on Hilton Head. Oyster Reef is now a semi-private member-owned club with a limited number of tee times for guest play,

The carefully-maintained facility, designed by noted course architect Rees Jones, continues to be a favorite destination for serious golfers as well as a favorite with locals.

Great layout and nice course.

Greens were extremely fast and several had issues with fungus so were kind of rough.

Not worth the price

The greens on the front nine were sanded, had patches and were not up to par. Should not have been charged full price to play.

Also, employees behind us (A foursome of guests and we played in 3:50. Were constantly pushing and hit into us once without apologizing.

Cart Attendant Cindy

We were out for a walk around the plantation, stopped in to get a drink. The bar wasn’t open yet so we stopped the cart lady to grab a couple. Cindy is the best. She was getting ready to head out, but stopped to give us what we needed. She also stopped back 15 minutes later to see if we needed another round - which we did. She’s awesome!

Course was great but we were sold a tee time which was too late to comfortably finish course.. we were sold a 2:52 teetime and sundown was 6:48. At the turn we were offered a 9 hole certificate to use another time, but we had no other time as we were from out of town. We had 1 hour and 30 minutes. We did finish but it was not a comfortable pace round.

We had to wait about 45 minutes for a carts to free up for our 12:25 round which put us starting

at least 30 minutes after our tee time! Then the ranger scolded us about halfway through our first

nine that we were playing 8 minutes off pace!

The course was beautiful but after waiting so long for carts, learning

cart availablity is a chronic issue from a member, I would not recommend this course.

We also were told the course overbooked by 30 people that day.

I had booked our tee time several weeks in advance because I wanted our visitors to play it.

It was a disappointing experience.
