Oyster Reef features elevated tees and lush fairways lined by thick stands of live oak and pine. Numerous doglegs accented by strategically located mounds and fairway bunkers, call for well-planned tee shots. Varying sizes of greens with well-defined tiers place a premium on precise approach shots.

The par-3 sixth hole, which plays 192 yards from the back tees to a green set against a backdrop of Port Royal Sound, is one of the most visually spectacular holes on Hilton Head. Oyster Reef is now a semi-private member-owned club with a limited number of tee times for guest play,

The carefully-maintained facility, designed by noted course architect Rees Jones, continues to be a favorite destination for serious golfers as well as a favorite with locals.

Round at sunrise

Was one of the first groups out with a 7:08 tee-time, paired up with a dad and his two teenage boys. All playing the course for the first time. We felt like we had the course to ourselves, played ready golf for the entire round. Greens felt like they were rolling slow that day, might have been early morning and dew causing that though, left a lot of putts short. Overall very nice course, would recommend it and look forward to playing it again my next time down

Resort Golf

Course was in great shape even though the greens had been punched recently they still rolled true. Tee boxes and fairways were plush and the Bermuda rough was high and penalizing as it should be. So keep it in the short grass and you’ll have a blast at this course.

Enjoyable round

Course is beautiful and in great shape except for greens which were good but recently punched. Pace was slow due to glitch in reservAtion software and overbooked but still worth the waiting.

Great Layout

Multiple tee options, greens in good shape for August. Offered a lower rate than the rate reserved online. No cart refreshments on-course but not an issue if you bring your own drinks. Every cart had a cooler with ice.

Course was very playable and scenic, Traditional layout, tree lined , very fair if you hit it where you are supposed to. The only negative was that they had just punched and sanded the greens the day before I played. Maybe that is why I got the "Hot Deal". It would have been nice to know that before spending $75.00. Still had a great time and course was still very playable just played 2 putt max when on the green. I would still recommend playing this course if in Hilton Head.

Horrible

Hated the course. It's a bunch of doglegs left and right. I would not play it twice

Disappointing for such high hopes

They aerate me the greens recently without telling us as they collected full rates. It was impossible to putt or score. They also did not have any water on any of the holes when it was 95 degrees.

Good course

First time at Oyster Reef. Staff very friendly from cart personnel, to pro shop, to starter. Nice layout. Fair. Greens were being aerated. Made putting rough but we’ were forewarned. Got the deal of the day. Otherwise very pricey.

Typical but unexceptional

The greens were inconsistent and had lots of sand on some. The fairways were good, tee boxes were good, and the pace of play was right over 4 hours.

I find the course to be challenging without being difficult, the facilities being nice without being great, and the Marshall being there but not doing anything.

At $80 or less in the market I am fine with this course but don’t think it’s a deal.

Would play this over shipyard but would not pay more money to play it than shipyard.
