Oyster Reef features elevated tees and lush fairways lined by thick stands of live oak and pine. Numerous doglegs accented by strategically located mounds and fairway bunkers, call for well-planned tee shots. Varying sizes of greens with well-defined tiers place a premium on precise approach shots.

The par-3 sixth hole, which plays 192 yards from the back tees to a green set against a backdrop of Port Royal Sound, is one of the most visually spectacular holes on Hilton Head. Oyster Reef is now a semi-private member-owned club with a limited number of tee times for guest play,

The carefully-maintained facility, designed by noted course architect Rees Jones, continues to be a favorite destination for serious golfers as well as a favorite with locals.

Amazing course, great conditions

Starter needs to take it down a notch. Great course and conditions. Other staff was awesome and really friendly. They let us come back after a down pour and finish our round later in the day. Highly recommend the course.

Dad vrs son

We played Oyster Reef Golf last year will on vacation. So when choosing a course to play this year we both said we wanted to play Oyster Reef again. We were not disappointed very changing but playable. All good and my 40 year old son beat me by one stroke on there 18 hole.

Try it I'm sure you will like the course and price.

First Off The Tee

I joined a member and a 2 some. We were the first off. We finished in 3.5 hours. Majority of the staff was very friendly. Beverages and snacks are limited. $2 cracker is funny and no bar was interesting… Course was in good shape but not great. 6 greens were in below average shape but others were good. The putting green was twice as fast as the greens on the course and the course greens were fairly inconsistent.

All that said, I had a great time and and I’m considering playing again while in town.

Oyster Reef

I really like the layout. Disappointed they had aerified but that’s just the way it was—has to be done. Friendly staff, good range.

Not worth the rate

Course was decent but not worth the rack rate of $140…. Lots of dead spots on the greens, course lay out was nice. More of a $75-$80 course for the rate they are charging you can play a much nicer course in HH

More pluses than minuses

Fun course to play, great layout. Pace of play extremely slow. Too many slow players on the course. Lacking on course beverage cart. Golf staff great…ba/tavern staff need to clean house. Terribly rude and zero customer service.

High price for recovering greens

Nice layout the course bag guy was rude rest of the staff was very pleasant green still healing from aeration and rates were very expensive still I guess that’s what you get in the summertime in Hilton Head. I’ve played the course before and I will probably play it again.

Disappointed

Played in Father’s Day and was last day of aeration recovery. Our 8:20 tee time did not start until 8:35… sad so backed up so early. Most greens were not even close to recovery and were very slow. We paid $75 and were glad that we did not pay $135 normal fee. The course layout was tight with many trees lining course which made it an additional challenge. The staff was friendly and the practice area was very good (unlimited practice balls and good chipping and putting). Really kinda non-descript course and not really pleasing to the eye. Unfortunately would not play again. Had higher hopes with previous reviews.

My wife, son, and I had a fantastic time. Staff was friendly and Bob the starter was fantastic. We will definitely play this course again on our next trip to Hilton Head.
