Wedgefield Golf Club
About
The course at the Wedgefield Golf & Country Club, although suitable for all golfers, is most appropriate for intermediate players. The affordably priced Wedgefield Golf Club used to be known as Rocket City and Cape Orlando. The course has a classic-Florida style layout with medium sized greens that are guarded by bunkers and fairways lined with cypress trees. There is water on the golf course but it is not a significant factor in the game. However, there is one hole, the par-3 sixth hole that is surrounded on three sides by water. Wedgefield Golf & Country Club, in addition to the course, has a chipping area and putting green as well as a golf school.

Golf course in April
The pace of play was slow compared to other times I’ve played here. Partly because they are aerating the fairways now but that’s just maintenance. Also the bunkers were more topsoil instead of sand. Hopefully they will refresh the bunkers soon too. Greens are in good shape.
Good Course but not so good conditions
Wedgefield is a nice, moderately challenging course that is reasonably priced. However, except for the greens, the rest of the course is barren desert like! You can't find a decent patch of grass on the fairway to hit from so, you end up hitting your ball from sand, literally. They have to do something to better the fairway and tee box conditions. Heavy seeding/massive patching may be an idea:-)
Good Course
It was fun to play and the course is tough from the blues.
Good layout that can get long
Pick your tees wisely. There are some short holes and some brutes. It's not a tight course but you can get in trouble easily in some places.
Everything was a bit dry, and the bunkers are pretty much dirt. A couple of tees were rough, but other than that, very playable.
Don’t bother
What a disappointment. Reviews at 4+ stars. Tees and fairways just awful. Greens good but slow. Areas around greens bare dirt. Layout is pretty good. At one time this was likely a great track but no more.
Back Nine Start
Not sure why we started on back 9, but then when we got around to front there 3 foursomes that started on front 9. It became a cluster waiting. In addition, our cart died.
Interesting layout, rundown facilities
Had a really enjoyable round
Upsides:
The course is very interesting.
It offers a decent yet fair challenge
Very friendly staff
Quick speed of play
Very inexpensive
Downsides are:
The pro shop is very poorly stocked (seems the only brand of equipment that they carry is Srixon - so no last minute ProV1s etc)
The halfway house / bar only opens at 4pm (at least this was the case yesterday) - so don’t arrive hungry…
It is a little dried out and has some patchiness, but given the cost of playing it is definitely worth the money.
Groups of 7 and 9
Overall great experience besides running into two groups of 7 people and of 9 people all teeing off and not letting my twosome play through so every hole on the back 9 had a 15 minute wait to tee off.
This course was really good fir the price..layout was good and challenging..some patchy areas but nothing terrible
