Wedgefield Golf Club
About
The course at the Wedgefield Golf & Country Club, although suitable for all golfers, is most appropriate for intermediate players. The affordably priced Wedgefield Golf Club used to be known as Rocket City and Cape Orlando. The course has a classic-Florida style layout with medium sized greens that are guarded by bunkers and fairways lined with cypress trees. There is water on the golf course but it is not a significant factor in the game. However, there is one hole, the par-3 sixth hole that is surrounded on three sides by water. Wedgefield Golf & Country Club, in addition to the course, has a chipping area and putting green as well as a golf school.

Sooo wet but nice layout!
First time my wife and I played this course after a 4-days-in-row rainy weather. So, the grass was long everywhere and conditions were very wet. (Played lift-clean-and-place so, we were fine) Although we didn’t get any roll f the tee, my wife particularly found this to be « lady-friendly-course » at 4,886y. For me, I wish there were an in-between or combo tees (blues too long at 6,795y and whites would be a bit short, for me, at 6,239 under dry conditions). Now, design-wise, I wished they could have left more holes between the pars fives, which are on holes number 1, 3, 11 and…12. Although we were only 2 following a group of 4 young guns, we made it back to our car under 4 hours. We will definitely play this course again…when it is dry.
play here regularly.
The greens were aeriated a few weeks ago and still a bit of sand on top but not bad really. I live on the east side of town so getting there is quite easy, even if a distance for you might be worth the travel
Great condition
New owner has done a wonderful job restoring this course
Friendly Public Course
Wedgefield was a hidden gem that is a bit off the beaten path, but worth it. It's a smaller club that has both private memberships and public time slots. The staff here are amazing and helpful. Pace of play was pretty good on a busier day, carts were fueled and clean, and the course was pretty well taken care of. The groundskeepers who were roaming around were also super friendly. Overall a good place to play if you're around the MCO airport.
Recovering nicely
Course has gone through some tlc, it is coming along well. Good layout and interesting shots required, will play again.
Punched greens very slow
Greens played slow ..looks like the greens were
Punched recently
Recovering, maintenance in progress.
The greens had a lot of seed/sand spread out, not raked yet made it hard to putt.
Overall is good, however they are in maintenance mode and needs a little time to get settled.
bad day for the greens
They had very recently aeriated the greens 1 through about 11 and had not sanded them so putting was awful. I figure they did not get the rest of the holes done so they were maybe going to sand them all after finishing. I can play on a cow pasture so long as the greens are fairly good...not the case today. Golf Now has had course condition notifications in the past but perhaps Wedgefield did not tell them of the situation.
Good layout but needs maintenance
This course was originally built in the '60s over time. Course has needed maintenance and currently could use more TLC hole markers which were granite were faded and barely legible arrows indicating where the next hole was were either missing or confusing. Front nine was recently aerated but the greens were fine. Fairways average some challenging halls with creeks and or water overall okay but I probably would not rush to play there again 2
Nice to come back
Having played this course last year I was not disappointed to return this year to find it was just as good. Great layout and the staff always friendly. I be back again soon.
