About
The course at the Wedgefield Golf & Country Club, although suitable for all golfers, is most appropriate for intermediate players. The affordably priced Wedgefield Golf Club used to be known as Rocket City and Cape Orlando. The course has a classic-Florida style layout with medium sized greens that are guarded by bunkers and fairways lined with cypress trees. There is water on the golf course but it is not a significant factor in the game. However, there is one hole, the par-3 sixth hole that is surrounded on three sides by water. Wedgefield Golf & Country Club, in addition to the course, has a chipping area and putting green as well as a golf school.

Golfer Reviews
Fairways need watering
We always see improvements weekly on this course. Since we have not had rain, the fairways are burning up fast. Watering is needed.
Two other points I keep putting is, they need rakes in the bunkers and the 3 colored flag system to show where the hole is cut.
Course is on track
Owner has made tremendous progress over the past 3 years. Greens are nice. Fairways much improved. Nice layout. Pace of play was great- 3hours
Need more carts
The course was in great shape and was enjoyable to play. However, this is the second time we have been there and have had to wait for carts to be available. The need to get more carts in stock. Also, finally the restaurant was open on a Wednesday...and the food was great.
OLD SCHOOL
My wife and I went out as a twosome, no problem, and had a great day. There was a quaint “old school” atmosphere to the place. The course was actually in great shape from tee box to hole. By the way, did I mention how well I played and that it was sunny and 82 (both temperature and score).
Lack of golf carts
Waited 35 minutes past our scheduled tee time for golf carts.. Our group of 4 was just part of the other groups waiting in line. Call before you head over to make sure the carts are ready .
Wedgefield is Fun & Good Condition
This day was HOT, and they let us go off as 2some. I was pleasantly surprised with course conditions: fairways had grass, bunkers had sand, greens were a little Slow -- actually due to a lot of grass & keeping them a little fuzzy due to increased play & hot humid weather. I will advise first-time players of a few notes .......starting with #1, don't go too far left with 2nd shot, or blocked by trees to this narrow opening to approach into par5. You might leave Driver in bag #5&6, which has a rodan green, so watch out. Par3's are of variable distance, but fun --#8 is a good hole. Back9 starts with short par4, then back2back par5s, #12 a narrow 2nd shot landing before the ditch, which crosses over a few holes. Layout has a few 400yrd+ par4s, pretty big for this old guy, but a good short game can remedy shortcomings. My only DbleBogie came #17 with wayward drive in ditch, but other than a few missed short putts, played pretty well. Back9 pace of play slowed considerably, but still played in about 4hrs. Nice club-house gals helped with starting earlier than assigned, and beverages at the turn. Thanx to GolfNow for the Hot Deals, and I'll be back ........gotta break 80.
Pretty impressed for the price
Liked the course having played it for the first time. Guy in the pro shop a bit full of his own importance but you always get them. Greens good and quick although very sloppy if played for the first time and that was us. Main failure was no yardage markers or discs on the fairways and no gps on the carts. My eyes are pretty good but false fronts etc made it easy to under club. Wouldn’t cost much to sort this out but otherwise ok
Great Value Course
Greens were well kept and layout if pretty difficult and varied. fairways and certain spots need some work but you can’t beat the price in season Orlando area
Real nice course!
We played about a year ago and they said they were doing improvements, and they were right! Course conditions are much better than many other courses that are charging more $$'s. Very enjoyable round!
Always improving
It’s nice to see a course invest in improving the conditions. Every time we play there, there is always some new feature they are working on.
If I could suggest one thing. Please put rakes in the bunkers. Not a huge investment, but it would go a long way.
Well layed out
Great weather. Only thing missing was a restroom on the course.
The greens were in way better shape than when we played a few weeks prior. A nice Course and would come again.
much improved
Had not been there for 6-8 months due to pretty poor green conditions on back nine. Glad to see they have been bigly improved. The 3 greens on the back have grown in nicely( still a little bit on bumpy side) but that will go away hopefully. Were somewhat slow but they are contoured enough that real fast they would not be fun..On the negative side the range is not good at all and the bunkers with a very few exceptions are basically just dirt. It's a fun course to play though so we will be returning
I believe there is one between 6 & 7
