Wedgefield Golf Club
About
The course at the Wedgefield Golf & Country Club, although suitable for all golfers, is most appropriate for intermediate players. The affordably priced Wedgefield Golf Club used to be known as Rocket City and Cape Orlando. The course has a classic-Florida style layout with medium sized greens that are guarded by bunkers and fairways lined with cypress trees. There is water on the golf course but it is not a significant factor in the game. However, there is one hole, the par-3 sixth hole that is surrounded on three sides by water. Wedgefield Golf & Country Club, in addition to the course, has a chipping area and putting green as well as a golf school.

A Hidden Gem For The Money
Although the course was not immaculate, it was great for the money and difficult enough to keep this old guy interested
Best Bang for your Buck
This course is in great shape with the fairways and greens looking good. The pace of play was pretty good too…we finished our round in 3 hours and 45 mins. The only disappointment was there was no cart girl. You definitely can’t be the value for your money as we paid $37 for our round.
Nice course
First time playing here. The course was real nice for the money. I would play here again .
Great Layout Needs Some TLC
It was a GN HD for $29 + $3 small bucket. Immediately there was an issue. It was about 10:30 and they were out of carts. It wasn’t that busy and many of the regulars had their own. Tee time wasn’t until 11:20, so it didn’t really impact the round. The carts don’t have GPS, so bring your own. And l didn’t notice any yardage markers on the course. The driving range was adequate, though the balls appeared to be 20 years old and there are no bag stands or yardage markers. The tee boxes were fine. Fairways were also fine, but the rough was a toss up of grasses. The traps had little sand and lots of footprints - no rakes. Staff said the neighborhood kids steal them. The greens were nice. They rolled nicely at about a 9-9.5, and l was pleasantly surprised by the lack of ball marks. Now some quirkiness. The yardage on the card is not what is on the course. The stones at the tees were better. The 9th’s tees are weird. The whites and gold are on the right and go on an angle over water. The blues are directly in line with the fairway 🤔 and 18’s blues are behind 2 trees 🤔 And on one hole (l think the 16th) l was 98 yards out, but the sprinkler head 5’ from me said 171 to the center 🤔 All in all l really enjoyed the layout. It played even tighter than it visually appeared. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Was it worth the $, fuel and tolls - Yes. Would l drive that far again without a good reason - no. But l would recommend it if you’re in the area.
Good deal.
Mid winter conditions, so manage your expectations. Greens in very nice shape, with a few bumpy areas. Overall they are in nice shape and roll true. Overall condition of course is ok .
Not so hidden gem!
There was about 45 min frost delay in the morning, which backed up the course a little. The group in front invited me to play along, and we got in right at about 4 hours with a 5-some! Course is in excellent shape, especially paying $40 for a round. Greens are smooth, fast, and challenging with lots of break. Layout is both tough, and easy, depending on the hole, and how straight you're hitting it. Great day of golf, and there will be many more!
Wedgefeels
Don’t skip this place. It’s off in the middle of nowhere and you might have to wait an hour to tee off, but it’s worth the wait. Course was in better shape than other Orlando courses that charge 4x as much. Range, practice green and even a practice bunker. Staff was cool af. Would definitely go back.
Worth every penny
With local courses raising their prices to well beyond their worth we decided to give the revamped Wedgefield a shot. The course was very well maintained, greens had good speed and fairways/greens/tee boxes are all well groomed. There was frost so our 8:10 became8:30 slightly delayed teeing off but everyone kept good pace. I’d pay $37 every day of the week, greens are 5x better than Twin Rivers.
Great Value
I am staying at Mystic Dunes but do to the cold morning decided take a mini road-trip to Wedgefield. About a 45 minute drive.
Greens were absolutely in great shape while Mystic Dunes are TERRIBLE!
Mystic is $100 + per round compared to Wedgefield GN rate of $45 on a weekend.
Noticed an HUGE improvement in their greens last year and they have done a great job. Hats off to the green keeper ! WELL DONE!
New flagsticks needed
Alway enjoy this course, conditions are improving weekly. I would recommend using the 3 flag system to let the golfer know the pin placement on the green. It would pick up the pace of play.
Great course and greens
The course in general is in great condition with a couple of areas been worked on. The greens are great and fast, sand traps are in decent shape(a bit hard) and ted boxes are in good shape(except one). We really enjoyed playing this course since the layout have a good mix and challenges. The price is good for this time of the year. No beverage cart !!! Will be back
Awesome surprise
Great course and greens were in excellent shape. Challenging course but well worth the drive and money. Thank you for a hidden gem. Will see you again. Thanks Anthony for the great service 👍.
Excellent value
The course is in great shape. Many improvements have been made and are still ongoing. I really like the move of the 18th tee box to hit across the pond. The greens are in the best shape in years. Keep up the good work and my wife and I are looking fwd to our next visit.
