Wedgefield Golf Club

First time playing The Wedge, and I was pleasantly surprised. I saw reviews how this course in "on the comeback trail," but I can't compare to any past experience. The proshop attendant/starter was very pleasant & welcoming, even to this Old Hack (they can see a Hot Deal Special walking in the door). I teamed up with a really nice guy, who knew the course, and good thing too. There are a few doglegs, creeks & water hazards that he clearly pointed out. I was a good student, hit the T-ball well & didn't lose a ball. The greens were a bit slow, but then again, I could tell the new strain of tiff-dwraft that needs some growth time. There is a good mix of short & long holes (a couple of 400yd+ Par4's), but fairways are forgiving to an extent. The greens are undulating, and once they quicken up, will present a whole new challenge to this little course. I could see the constant work on the course ---#18 T-box under construction. Thanx to GN for the Hot Deals, and now that I know the course (short travel from eastern Orlando), I will be back.

Played this course last year and thought it wasn’t for me. Tried it again this year, and it has had quite the turn around. Course is in much better condition, and looks like they are continuing to work on it. The greens are about what the price reflects, but better than the same price range in the area. Staff was great, people were nice, and the layout was fun.

For the last year or so every time I'm at Wedgefield I see the owner out there working sweating and spending his money making improvements to tee boxes, cart paths and greens just to make it a nicer course and it shows. It gets better all the time. If only everyone would repair their Ball marks on the greens and keep the Golf Carts on the path it will remain to get even better.

Course in good shape. Yes, greens could be quicker, but looks as if they are being careful with the new grasses. This is a fun Layout, good mix of short holes with couple of 400yd+ Par4s, and lengthy Par5s; dogleds & plenty of greens' guards -- trees or sand bunkers (which have good sand & in nice shape, although rakes are needed for players to do their part). I played well, just putted poorly due to my own deficient stroke (& slow greens)......should have broken 80. Staff very pleasant & welcoming; we can tell new owner is investing in course improvements. Thanx to GN for the Hot Deals special ..... I'll be back!

Arrived for my 11:30 reservation, the clerk indicated that the reservation was not valid, because Wedgefield have two designated time for hot buy prepaid tee time. He stated that the valid times are 11:08 and 11:21. He stated if I wanted to play I will have to pay the club rate, and it was my responsibility to contact GolfNow for my refund. I objected to the situation, and insisted that this should be an issue between GolfNow and Wedgefield golf club. A short while later, he stated he received a cancellation, so he would make an exception, allowing me to play using the GolfNow reservation. I don’t believe this should have happened. I booked my tee time from the night before, therefore if by chance, there are any concerns with the allotted Hot Buy slots, it should be fixed by club management and GolfNow.

I had read the reviews before booking (some bad and the more recent ones good) so was a little worried as never played here before. I was glad I did book. The course has some interesting holes to make you think about your shots with lots of dog legs !! The Tee boxes were fine, the fairways a little patchy in places and the greens were green. My only complaint about the greens were they were very slow but I put this down to the fact they looked newish and they must have been letting the grass really take root Overall I really enjoyed my round and will be back to play again in the near future. My buddy and I have played the wedge for over 15 years and the course is in the best shape ever for us. we've seen the horrible conditions from years ago but I can honestly say I've never seen a course turn it around as well as Wedgefield. Most notably, the greens are really nice and roll normally instead of abysmally slow as they did for years. Kudos to all involved for the transformation. We've always enjoyed the layout but to have the course in nice condition is just primo! Keep it up, guys!

Played here a few years ago and the course needed a lot of work. That work has paid off. The course is now in fabulous shape. I will be playing here often.

I have been sporadically playing this course since 2018. It is in the best shape ever. Greens run true and fairway are looking great. Excellent improvement

Getting better all the time. Sanded greens today while we were playing.didn't know they were doing it. Made putting difficult. But since it will make more improvements I'm OK with it

Owner is doing a great job. I just hope the rates don't change
