About
The 18-hole championship course at Don Shula's Golf Club is one of those courses that just seems to get better as you play your way around.
The first few holes are fairly open and not overly difficult. However, things start to get more difficult as you continue. By the time you make it to the 11th green, you'll know that you're in for a real dogfight. The fairways on the back get tight and there's water on just about every hole. All in all, it's a very enjoyable course from start to finish.
There are tennis courts, multiplex, fitness center etc. There’s something for everyone. The hotel's onsite amenities include upscale dining at the Original Shula's Steak House and casual dinning at the Bull Pen, which serves breakfast lunch and light dinner until 7pm.

Great Course for the money.
This course is in great shape. The greens are nice and big and this time of year they play pure. Fairways are wide open and watered well. The rough isn't the best grass in the area but you still play easily out of it. Tee boxes could use a little work but it looks like the grounds crew is putting in work with the whole course little by little. I've seen this course pretty slammed with golfers but usually the pace of play isn't bad at all. Friendly staff took our bags when we walked in. Asked if we knew the layout and if we had any questions about anything.
Overall a good course to play and play often.
Friendly and challenging
The staff here is very friendly. The course was crowded but we were paired with a nice couple. Course was in good shape though the greens seemed a little slower than we were used to there. The rates are reasonable and the overall quality of the course is very good.

Thank you for your review of Shula's Golf Club. Our greens are currently in great shape. I am not sure what damage you are referring too. Some greens receive more ball mark damage than others. We provide complimentary divot repair tools in season to guests along with a course etiquette card. We will continue to train our staff to remind all golfers on repairing ball marks on greens.
The 19th Hole (Bull Pen) closes at 4pm. The Steak House bar is open at this time for drinks and appetizers. In addition, the bar at Hotel Indigo (on property) is open for food and drinks.

Muz buena cancha pero lenta!!!!
La cancha esta muy buena sobre todo los segundos 9 hoyos pero es muy lenta y no hay un Marshall que se ocupe de apurar a las lineas lentas. Tardamos un monton!!!!
It a nice course, harder on the back due to water
This is a good course always in good conditions. Flat and mostly straight
Not to difficult. If you are hitting straight it could be easy. Two in my group have broken 80 here. Our handicaps are in the low-mid tens to 20.
The back nine is more challenging as it has lots of water in seven holes. Several in both sides, across and behind.
The problem that it has is that it's built very low, so when it rains the water can't run down. If it rains hard it actually runs out from the drainage. As it rains very often in SFL, wet conditions and car path only are common.
Cars should have GPS.
In summer the 19th closes around 3 pm, so for drinks after the round you have to go to the Shula's steakhouse. It's ackword to get there in your sweaty golf outfit. If you don't mind, they don't either.
This last round it was very busy. Long line at the tee. We teedup about 10 minutes late, Wich is not bad- and waited on many holes, and although my fellow players were very linean with their mulligans, (one for every bad shot, of which they had plenty) yet we finished right under 4 hrs.
They did not have cars when I arrived and only one fellow was received and loading bags. When he finally got more cars, he did not put sand buckets on them. I found the ranger on hole 4th and when we started the 6th he already had a bucket for me kudos.
Warning, the one time I used the range and paid with credit card at the dispensing machine, my credit card information was stolen. Could be coincidence, but that was the only change I did that day.

The F&B director has decided to close the Bull Pen early during the summer months due to slow activity. I will make a recommendation to stay open longer when we have golfers on the course.
I have not heard of any credit card info being compromised from the driving range. All credit card info is stored from an external service. Please contact us directly if you feel your card was compromised.

Big trees and lots of water
This course exceeded my expectations. I played from the white tees and it wasn't very long, yet my score was seriously affected by the challenges the course had to offer such as trees and water. The course has lots of water, especially on the back 9. I loved the layout, every hole was very unique. The greens were well maintained, only downside is that Miami residents don't seem to know how to fix divots on the greens (or care to fix them), some greens looked like mine fields (Can't blame the staff for that, it falls on the players). This course requires strategy and precision. I got a great deal by booking online, $30 a person. I definitely want to come back to try to lower my horrible score from the first go around.

Good Track, well laid out, excellent Greens for Public Course
The course plays well, and at an average to short length.
Greens are very soft and reasonably true, receiving low and and high angle shots very well.
Pace is average and aided by cart play only.
Cart Service was good - average.
Course pub has excellent food, albeit the staff are not really that friendly.
Peanuts or chips or "something" would be a nice touch for the pricing of the beverages and the food is closed at 15h00 which is early even for winter time hours.
The carts while functional, are slightly beat up and several carts are grossly mis-aligned. It was well accommodated to change carts as requested.
Front Nine and Back Nine are two totally different courses, which is fine, and a decent challenge.
No blind approaches on entire course, which is always a big plus.

Ok
I am an experienced golfer with a 6 handicap and this course was too hard for me. On the back 9, drives 10 yards left or right were in the water and part 4s required longer second shots than first ones because driver was unusable. Staff was very friendly. I couldn't find scorecards anywhere and they weren't on the carts so I ended up having to go back to the pro shop for one. Good for the money if your up for a challenge. And be prepared to lose a lot of balls.

We have received many reviews from guests of low to high handicappers who find the course very enjoyable. Guests can choose to play 1 of 5 sets of available tees based on the player's handicap. The back 9 does have more water than the front and typically plays 1 to 2 shots higher for most golfers. The more familiar you are with certain holes, the easier it is to play. Course laid out in a very friendly manner.approximately 3-4sets of tees. On every hole .lots of water,l helpful to have a GPS if never played the course so you know where the water is and where to lay up .course condition was excellent ,greens were very friendly ,recommend course for anyone with any handicap. excellent value for the money.

Messy Day
The course was very soggy. Weather conditions on this day was windy, wet and rainy. Played the front side twice as the lower laying back side was cart path only. It's nice and challenging track when the conditions are better. Staff was friendly. Shula's restaurant is excellent and can be pricey.
Overbooked and undermanaged
It's a beautiful course and I'd like to return but not until they make some needed improvements. When I arrived there was no designated bag drop area and no valet present. Once on the course I had to wait and wait between every shot. The management crams way too many players out there and then leaves us without a ranger. I'd also suggest they inform players that the back nine is cart paths only. Older guys might not be able to manage that much walking. I started around 3pm and played 15 holes before it got too late to continue. This was not the pleasure I was hoping for.

Thank you for your review of Shula's Golf Club. We had a very busy day on the day you played. You might have missed the bag drop area due to a morning golf tournament finishing up. Currently we have valet staff scheduled on weekends. We will look at adding valet once the busy season arrives. A ranger was present on the course till 4pm that day. Due to heavy rainfall the day before, our back 9 operated with cart path only restrictions. This will definitely slow the pace of play down. We apologize that you didn't enjoy your experience that day. Did you play as a single that day? Golf starting after 3pm is considered twilight and 18 holes is not guaranteed. This is why rates are cheaper at this time. We hope you visit us again now that we are approaching the dry season.

Need to speed people up
Every thing was pretty great. The back 9 does not hold water very well so if it rains it isn't very fun. They need to get a few rangers out there to encourage people to play a little ready golf. It was slow!!!! The rate was great for a course of this quality though.

Nice layout with great service
First time golfing there and we were pleasantly surprised. Great staff service all around. Only drawback was that we never saw a cart person with beverages on the course. Great layout with a challenging back nine holes. Beautiful scenery. Will be back!
