The Senator Course at Shula's Golf Club
About
The 18-hole championship course at Don Shula's Golf Club is one of those courses that just seems to get better as you play your way around.
The first few holes are fairly open and not overly difficult. However, things start to get more difficult as you continue. By the time you make it to the 11th green, you'll know that you're in for a real dogfight. The fairways on the back get tight and there's water on just about every hole. All in all, it's a very enjoyable course from start to finish.
There are tennis courts, multiplex, fitness center etc. There’s something for everyone. The hotel's onsite amenities include upscale dining at the Original Shula's Steak House and casual dinning at the Bull Pen, which serves breakfast lunch and light dinner until 7pm.

Beautiful golf course
Nice golf course A+++++I'll recommend this course and the golfNow aplication, beside this I did my first birdie. :-)
Beautiful setting
I appreciated the beautiful setting of the course. All around there are palm trees, ponds and wildlife. The course is a bit short, but if you play from the black tees it is fine. Greens are challenging and always with slopes. Water is around many holes and this requires accuracy. In conclusion it is a quite technical course at medium level of difficulty. Good players would go for birdies in at least half of the holes.Average and amateur players would be straggling the uneven greens and enjoy the scenery.
Not worth it
Don Shula really let his name go on this one. The course was in horrible shape.
Very pleasant course
This course is a very nice and diversed course. It's got just what you want to see af far as water (not too much) and a lot of friendly holes. Greens are a also just as challenging as you would want to them to be and fairways are well maintained.
Unforgettable...
We traveled to Miami for New Year's Eve and brought our sticks with us so we could sample a few of the local golf courses. The experience was so different than what we're used to on the west coast that I can say with all honesty that we'll never forget this round of golf. The bag drop, pro shop and practice range experiences were pretty shaky so I was skeptical about whether or not the golf itself would measure up. I was wrong. The tee boxes were pretty chewed up but the fairways were excellent and the greens were immaculate. The only real complaint I have was the pace. We should have had plenty enough time to complete 18 - but we finished the last two holes in darkness because of slow play and lack of course management. Beyond that -- this course is an amazing subtropical wildlife sanctuary. Four to five-foot orange and green striped iguana's were everywhere -- (one was in a tree overlooking the 11th tee box) -- and incredibly beautiful birds of all sizes shapes and colors were everywhere. If we would have seen flamingoes I would have expected Don Johnson himself to walk out from behind a tree. We had an exquisite dinner at Don Shula's steakhouse afterwards. If you can't afford to golf at Doral or the Biltmore then this is, in my opinion, your best choice for the ultimate Miami golf experience. Unforgettable.
Greens damage
Rangers should enforce divot repairs in greens, terrible damage due to soft Green conditions
Unwelcome
First of all, the Pro Shop was difficult to find (no signs). Parking lot is very small. The starter was very unpleasant and made me feel unwelcome. The driving range is not beside the Pro Shop. They don't allow nonmembers to drive the cart to the range and nonmembers must hit off mats. They don't allow you to drive the cart to your car to unload. The course was in good shape.
Once on the course good
The course was pretty crowded. When I went to the starter he told me that they have still a tournament going on (with shotgun start), so already 6 Flights were late at their teetime. I was happy to got paired up with to other Players with teetime half an hour before so I could start almost on time. The cart we got was very hard to steer and the other members of our Group told us the same. The course itself is beautiful great fairways, Greens in a very good shape, only the Teeboxes did not look very well.
not too hard, not too easy
Course in good shape but structures a bit run down. At one time in past probably a very nice place. Parking lot, carts, clubhouse, a bit dated and needing updates. Not as challenging as Doral white, but for the price more reasonable.
Great Course
Great greens. Nice people. Good service. Nice springy pads on driving range. You can't beat it for the price. Recent renovations are evident. Course well kept. Also location is very convenient.
Overrated but Good
Good course to play if the price is right. The back has a lot of water. The greens are large, undulating and fast. The tee boxes and fairways are in average condition. A ranger was needed to speed up play.
Course is well maintained
The course is in very good condition. Pin placement required almost pin point putting. The greens held the ball well and were smooth. Overall it was enjoyable round.
Wow
Every Sunday my son and I play golf and we travel to different course throught Dade, Broward and Palm beach counties ! Shula's renovated couple years back and wow what a challenging course !
Good times at shulas
Played this course for a week, very friendly staff. Starters Stan and Nevis great help and very happy to help. Course was in great shape. Greens were fantastic and a challenge to read but rolled true. The back 9 is very challenging and will test your game especially if the wind blows. Had a blast as did the others in my group, lots of laughs and good competition. Will be back next year
Back to Reality
Played here on a vacation trip to Florida (I live in Northern CA). After two rounds at Trump/Doral I needed a round that was only charging double digit green fees! Shula's fit the bill. I booked through GolfNow (who wouldn't?), got the discounted rate and headed over for an early tee time. Weekday round just prior to major 4 day holiday weekend meant the course was empty. Starter got me out early, played the round as a single and finished the round in about 2:45. This was important because thunderstorms, dropping temps and increased wind was forecast for later that morning. I was impressed; the fairways were in good shape, the greens were immaculate and even with the early start all the bunkers I visited had been groomed and fully raked. I mention that because the bunkers at Trump White had not been touched yet by the time I ventured into them the day before. So, overall, better bang for the buck and a whole lot less pretentious. Sorry Donald!
Greens were excellent.
Course is in excellent condition. The greens are in excellent and challenging to read.
good comfortable course
Course was nice and in decent shape as usua . Back 9 was an issue as those holes were closed and played the front twice. Other than that, good course.... Would play it again gladly.
Good Value
Course was in nice shape. Interesting layout and it wasn't overly challenging, but then again, there was water.... Fairways, T boxes and greens were in nice shape. Would like to play it again. Ugliest souvenir golf ball EVER. bought it anyway.
