Decent winter round
A cool breezy winter day of golfing. The course was in decent shape though some greens rolled slower. The carts take some getting used to, a simple brake pedal stops and holds the cart., no extra brake pedal attached
Good day, terrific service
Course was in pretty good shape for December. Staff out front and in shop very friendly, as always. Saw beverage cart a few times during round . . . just right. Always enjoy this course when in town. Played with two younger players (sons) who had a fun day as well. Thanks!
Nice course but Disappointing experience
I was very excited to play this course on my recent trip to Myrtle beach from Connecticut. I heard many good things about it. The course was in nice shape and the layout was good. Unfortunately, we were not able to finish all 18 holes due to darkness and slow play from the group in front of us even with a 1:26 tee time we were only able to finish 15 of 18 holes. Twice on the back nine the group in front of us held up play to buy drinks from the cart girl while in the middle of the fairway. This along with their overall slow play prevented us from finishing the full 18. I’m planned to play the Kings course in Jan but I’m not sure I will. return
Fairway issues
First time playing. Fairways were brown and very tight, almost like hard pan. Was told by staff, fairway sprinkler system was having problems. Greens were slow for my taste, but I did play in the afternoon. Layout and course setup was very traditional and fair. I wouldn’t pay top dollar, but I would play again when fairways come around.
Keep in mind this review is for the west course.
MBN
First time guest from CT. Course was nice and I enjoyed playing it. We had a 1:28 tee time but unfortunately were not able to finish our round due to extremely slow play by the group in front of us. We only could play15 holes. That was very disappointing. Drink carts should end after a certain time and only be allowed at tee boxes. A delay for the drink cart in the middle of the fairway by the group in front of also contributed to not finishing as dusk was setting in. Overall a good course but not sure if I will return on my next trip in January.
Fairways
Fairways were hard panned. Some were completely burnt and the drives bounced higher than if they were frozen.
Great course
This course was perfect for my wife and I as the fairways are open and greens accessible perfect lay out by Mr Palmer
Myrtle Beach National West Course
The conditions were a mess. No grass on tees and fairways. A lot of play- 5 hr round. Greens were good..
We played North course the next day and conditions were very good on all fairways, tees and greens. It was like night and day. We can’t believe they have the same superintendent. Don’ play the West, pay more and play the North.
First time in Myrtle Beach and thought i would start out on an Arnold Palmer Course. So glad I did! This is a must play course when in Myrtle Beach! Excellent all around. Course was perfect!
Nice
Nice course and layout. Greens are a little tricky but in pretty good shape for October. Over all a good course especially if you can get a deal.
Quality old track in Myrtle Beach
Very fine course with a mature layout, semi tight fairways and multiple tees for all abilities. Range is mostly sand so hard to get a good read on your warmup. Staff was excellent and we played in 4 hours. Would recommend though much more reasonable green fees for locals, than vacationers
Fun Layout, Very Playable
Layout was interesting and offered some challenges, but not ridiculously hard. Conditions of greens were above average; rolled true. Tee boxes were horrendous, little to no grass on many of them.
Staff friendliness and helpfulness was top notch.
