Myrtle Beach National Golf Club - King's North Course

About
For years, the King's North Course at Myrtle Beach National has been the most requested and best recognized golf course on the Grand Strand. The par-3, third hole with its island green and South Carolina-shaped sandtraps has become the signature hole for Myrtle Beach. King's North features some dramatic and unique holes. The par-5 sixth hole is nicknamed "The Gambler" and features an unusual island fairway which offers golfers a risk-reward short-cut to the green for a chance at eagle. The 18th hole, nicknamed "The Bull's-eye" by Golf Magazine, is a sight to behold. More than 40 sandtraps guard either side of the fairway and the green reaches out into a lake offering, at times, a very tempting pin placement.

Need to play course
Kings North what a great course layout. Conditions were great except greens were very slow. Needs improvement there.
Bucket and tools on green
Was SUPER excited to play this course. Had an 8:12 tee time and we were the first group out on the back 9 of the kings course. Course was overall in good shape, greens were quick and rolled nice. Some tee boxes could be in better shape, and some crabgrass in the rough but not a huge deal, just thought for the price could have been a little more well kept in rough and between holes. We come to a par 3 and there was a bucket 10 feet from the hole and a few large tools sitting in the green. When you pay over $100 for a round of golf you expect to avoid things like that and for the entire course to be immaculate. I’ve played nicer course for $50 back in Ohio.
Not worth the money
A beautifully difficult course, but getting old and a bit tired. The greens were quite slow. I particularly didn’t care for all the maintenance people out and about who didn’t seem to care if they were disturbing anyone or not. There was a short par four where the golfer had only one option of direction to tee off, yet 150 yards in front of the tee was a blower going back & forth in front of us….then when we wers green side, he was near us again going back & forth as though we weren’t there. The course value in my opinion was about half what the green fee was.
Course was great
First time playing here and found the experience great. Great course and great staff
Great layout
This course was so much fun. Great Staff and the course was just beautiful! I will come back for sure on my next visit. This course is a must play!
So much fun great layout
We got a deal on the t off app 66$ with a cart. Love the course so many fun water holes the Gambler hole was my fav! A must play. I’m from Connecticut and play some nice courses but this was the best. Staff was great showing us where to practice put and chip and gave us some pointers.
Great Course BUT...
While the course itself was great, I have an issue with the staff/rangers. The staff allowed a twosome in front of us to tee off with only one set of clubs. They were extremely slow since each of them also took about 3-4 swings before they made contact with the ball (and the swings were clearly not practice swings). On at least 2 holes I saw a ranger chatting with them, laughing and smiling instead of letting them know they were MANY holes behind the group in front of them For such an excellent course I cannot understand how they could let this twosome even on the course, especially during the morning prime time.
fun course kings north
really enjoyed the course layout. Not super tight really anywhere but still plenty of danger if you hit it way off-line. several holes had more than one option as far as how to play it whether you wanted to take a driver up over a corner around some trees or lay up on the dog leg to around 100 yards or try to reach a par five in two but if you chose wrong on any of those scenarios you were penalized but also rewarded if it worked out. The course was in excellent condition. And I booked as a single on GolfNow with a threesome and the bag attendant immediately told me since I booked as a single he was going to give me my own cart he said you paid your money as a single you shouldn't be stuck riding with who knows what. That was a change from most courses but I will also say the three guys I played with couldn't have been more enjoyable to play with. in fact if I had been playing another day and they had been I wouldn't have minded playing another round with them at all. Starter very friendly the guys in the pro shop very friendly. it may seem expensive but relative to everything else down there it's really not
A Myrtle Beach Must Play
Kings North us know for its water
Arnold Palmer design shows through. With bunker and green placement it’s classic.
Really enjoyed the course, staff was a little tired? They could have made it more special - perhaps members rule this course.
I was blown away by how great this course was
I enjoyed my round at Myrtle Beach National -King’s North. Staff was very accommodating from the minute we pulled up to the bag drop. Pro shop is very nice and has a good mix of merch for anyone looking. There’s a nice practice area for putting and chipping plus a full range. Starter let us tee off on the back nine to avoid some congestion which was much appreciated. We didn’t have to wait on anyone until our 14th hole, which was fine since we weren’t in a rush. The course layout is a little challenging but not daunting like some others in the area. Greens and tee boxes were in good shape too. Didn’t mind the price either; coming from North Jersey it’s pretty much the norm though this is much nicer than our local options. They had a cart girl making the rounds and a photographer who gave us a nice souvenir photo too. Overall this is an awesome place to play and I can’t wait for my next trip back.
