Myrtle Beach National Golf Club - King's North Course

Negatives first. For a 200$ course range balls should be complementary, not 8$. If you are gonna charge 8$ invest in decent balls. Balls were terrible. Golf carts are in desperate need of replacing. They have no sand bottles, no coolers, no gps. I play 50$ courses in upstate SC and all have these. My front wheels locked up 3 times when I made sharp turns. Had to force them to break loose.

Now, for the course itself, absolutely gorgeous! The clubhouse is just massive. The guys inside were very helpful and kind. Spoke for a few minutes with one of the guys that played in the Bryan Bros YouTube video. Really nice guy and helpful as to what to look for as a first time player. Putting and chipping area are huge. Starter was helpful and I'm grateful he told me to play the yardage as a club longer than what I'm used to. The holes were perfectly kept. Greens were rolling slower than normal on purpose in preparation for the fall weather. Shot 84 from the cream tees. On The Gambler I went for the island green but blocked the drive so bad I was in perfect shape on the regular fairway. Had 192 to cover and hit my 5 wood off the wood bulkheads. Made bogey after penalty. Hit Gap on #12 island green. Pulled it left into the bunker. Atrocious lie. Took 2 to get out, made double. And on 18 the bunkers, hit a perfect tee ball with PW in, flew in the back bunker with a back pin, no good made bogey from 135 out. Holes 1 through 18 were fantastic. Not a bad hole in my opinion. They just need to clean up some non course related things.

My wife and I have been coming to Myrtle Beach for over 25 years and I have played all the “premier” courses and MBN Kings North is now my favorite. Every hole is different which adds to the experience. Several holes are unique and very enjoyable to play. Kings North is now my “ go to” course in MB.

Played back 9 first. We finished in 1:45 and at the turn we waited 45 minutes to play again. Front 9 took 2:25

Tough to score and/or have fun with a 45+ minute break in the middle!!

Played today. 5 hrs 20 minutes to get around.

I had higher expectations going into the round. It was very average. Greens were very slow No holes really stood out. I played a lot better courses for a cheaper rate

Course was in very good shape. Some bare spots around the greens, but that is to be expected with all of the rain and heat recently.

The greens, tees and fairways were in great shape. The course renovations have come in great! You will be very pleased with the course conditions if you play here.

The only downside is the carts. They are old. The brakes don’t work well, and there is no GPS. For a course this expensive, the carts should be updated.

I would recommend this course for any player who show shoot below 90!! Otherwise, you won’t appreciate it!

The only thing I could complain if i May say about is the Greens! They are good, not great, about 9 for the Speed!

I would play this course over and over All the Time!

It is a must play course if you are a good Golfer!

Course was very challenging but too much for me at my age. Golf carts need updating. USB broken on ALL carts we checked. No GPS, no built in cooler or sand bottle onboard.

Kings did not disappoint. Could use more water stations on the course. Loved the sand cart paths.

Course was great. Very well maintained. Staff was awesome. It rained right at the end but we did manage to get 18 holes in. Very nice course!

The staff were rigid with their flexibility. Coming in from a delayed flight called ahead no other tee times. Either show up or lose your reservation and will be charged accordingly.

Firm greens to hold but not fast. Running at a 8

One of the best courses i have ever played. If you get a chance this a MUST PLAY!

Played twice at Kings North and like the layout and isn’t easy. Played early on first round and was approached by ranger to keep up with group ahead. I agree we were slow but ranger could have said it more nicely. He must have been a drill sargent in his younger years. Second round in afternoon was longer just over 5 hours.

I played the gambler two ways. First time to the island area but was unsuccessful with reaching the green even using more club on third shot. Took longer route in second round and made par. Fun to have the two options.

This was our first time playing the North course We were beyond impressed. We pulled in and used the bag drop for our clubs. They gave us a cart immediately The tee boxes, fairways and greens were all in perfect condition. Pro shop staff were helpful and friendly. There was a great selection of hats and clothing. We didn’t eat any food, but we did have drinks and the service was good. We hit balls at the range. We hit off mats, but you’re able to stick a tee into the mat to hit your driver. The putting green was in great condition . We were able to practice our chipping onto the practice green and work on our bunker shots out of the pristine sand. Pace of play was great. Played first nine holes in under 2 hours and the second kept the same great pace under 2 hours. We will definitely be back
