Finishing up on Man O War Photo submitted by mdPzD0qY6289lECn8Hqg on 12/18/2019
Could be better
Was really looking forward to playing this and the sister courses. But it ended up being the most expensive and least quality experience of my trip. No indication of the greens being aerated this week, until I arrived for my tee time. I checked the recent reviews, checked the golf now listing, and the course website. Was told there was no way to mention the aerated greens on the web. Would definitely call and specifically ask before playing.
There was a little rain the previous night and the course definitely required to be cart path only. Pace of play wasn’t too bad, even though carts were lined up waiting to tee off at their leisure. Layout was great and fairways were nice.
good course
fairways were good greens were biting so you can try for flag. it is a very good course over all, would play again
Better than the famous ones
I have vacationed in MB twice for golf and have played six area courses. Not an expert but I have the strong opinion that the hidden gems only the locals know about are by far the best. On this trip I splurged and dropped serious $$ at two ‘big name highly advertised’ courses and left both frustrated. Snobby staff, sandy greens, just bad experiences
Man o War was a squeeze one more round in pick and I had a blast! Great layout. Perfect grass tee to green, nice pace of play. And a challenge that was fair. Played well for my handicap and the hazards still got a sleeve of balls so pay attention to the course map
Just so much old school straight up challenging fun golf. Yup May just retire nearby to have more trips around this fun layout
Also the hotdogs were good and the soda was cold
Five stars
First time playing the course was alittle wet from the overnight storms but a great course will be back. If you haven’t played this course it is a must. Great for all stages of the game go play it.
Good value, Staff was (mostly) friendly.
Played in the middle of a hot July, with 10:00AM starting time. I thought the rates were reasonable at first, but then each member of our foursome received a coupon for a free lunch (two dogs, two beers, chips), and a $10.00 coupon to the pro shop. This makes MoW a great value! So, we were about 15 minutes from our scheduled staring time, and the starter was a little impatient with us as we wanted to go and hit (literally) 5 or 6 balls each on the range which was close by. He wasn't happy with us as we persisted, and we did as we wished. While playing, we were pleasantly surprised by the rangers coming around with cold water and iced-down towels. They were a godsend!
Great playing condition
Fairways and greens in great condition! Greens hold the ball but played a little slow..
Although the Course is surrounded by water— rarely comes into play.
Course officials did a outstanding job bringing water cooler around the course. Offered ice cold trowels to cool off with in the July heat. Cart girl seen frequently.
Nice little lunch promo with the dogs & beer / thank you
Rainy review ….
I’d like to play again - well groomed, nice layout, and lots of water, but manageable water hazards.
Hosing down the greens
Overall the course was in good shape tee to green and the layout is always a nice one. Only issue was with maintenance workers hosing down many of the greens (not sprinklers) which caused both delays as well as very wet conditions on the greens after hitting onto them. Have not run into this issue before.

Excellent course. Tee boxes were fantastic, fairways were manicured, greens rolled well once they dried out. We had a 7:32am tee time and got started promptly. Front nine played about an hour and fifteen minutes, back nine was slower due to double booking the two sides. Pace of place was still very manageable. Given a $10 off coupon for the pro shop and free lunch and drinks included with a voucher presented by the starter. Great experience. Would recommend to anyone. Very solid value for the cost.
